Do you remember, does everyone get letters (i.e. whether accept, waitlist, reject)? Or is the waitlist silent?
According to a document given to us on interview day:

How Does the Final Review by the Admissions Committee Work?
Following your interview today, your complete application file will undergo a final review by the UW SMPH Admission Committee to determine whether you will be Accepted, placed on the Alternate List, or Not Accepted. The Admisssions Committee meets regularly and will complete the final review of your application as soon as possible after your interview. However, scheduling and other considerations can delay the review process, particularly during breaks in the academic year.

How Do You Notify Me - Can I Check My Status?
You will be notified via U.S. Mail of the Admissions Committee's final decision regarding your application. Please wait until at least six weeks after your interview to contact us about the status of your application. If you do not receive a decision letter within the six weeks following your interview, please send us an email at (email address & phone number).

That last sentence suggests that they'll mail for all three outcomes. However, I heard people interviewing during the first day were told to wait 5 weeks, and those interviewing afterwards were told to wait 7+ weeks. Can anyone substantiate this?

Browsing last year's thread, it seems that they churn through about 15 interviewees per week. In addition, last year they had an extended review waitlist, wherein you were still in the air between acceptance and waitlist. Don't know if these trends will continue, but if so, everyone who interviewed on Sep-21 should have been decided on...

thanks for the insight! 👍

I have a question about writing a letter of intent following an interview. I have read that wisco does not accept application updates following the submission of the secondary application, but are they open to a letter of intent? And would this reach the committee before they make their final decision on my application?

After the interview Wisconsin does NOT accept any updates. Once you leave the interview they "close" your file for final review.

Thanks for the WARM feedback everyone - I got my interview invite today! 🙂 Hope to see some of you on Nov. 9th!

How long were you small pooled before you got the interview invite? If possible can you provide stats

Got my interview invite today for 11/20

WARM program interview invite today as well for Dec. 14th, congrats to others who got them today too! Hope those waiting for decisions and invites hear good news soon!

How do interview invites get sent out? Just by email? Or is there somewhere on the status page to check? Thank you!

As far as I know email is the only form of notification. You can check the status of your application online, but that only pertains to it being complete or not.

What is the character count/word limit of the disciplinary actions essay?

No mail today, maybe something tomorrow.

I'm starting to think my nervousness around this time of the cycle is not because I'm getting relatively few IIs (two thus far) but more because I really just want to hear from UW. Here's to hoping.

Last year, I received my acceptance via phone call from Dr. Hansen and I am not in the WARM program, so this is a possibility. Not sure how they decide to do it, but it has happened and will probably continue to happen.

I did not apply to WARM and recieved a phone call early this morning I was on a plane but googled the number and saw it was Dr. Hansen. I then recieved an email entitled "Please Call Me" from Dr. Hansen just saying we have good news and I will be out of the oiffice all day tomorrow so call me back. That's what went down... and brbEightball I think I do remember you from my interview. Good luck!

I caved and gave the Admissions office a call. Becky said that some students would receive phone calls, and some wouldn't. It would largely depend on how well they're moving and what sort of special consideration some students have--each acceptance packet is presumably tailored to each student, and the processing of these materials may play a role in who gets a call. This seems consistent with the 2011-2012 application thread, where most students just reported receiving their decision via snail mail.

Didn't ask about my decision though.

Maybe October88 can answer that 😀

Not positive myself. I'm sure scholarships are an example, in addition to multicultural, URM, or IS/OOS considerations. She didn't mention anything explicitly though, so this is all intuition & conjecture.

EDIT: Also of note, Admissions office hours end at 4pm (cst of course) each day. So, I'll stop holding my breath for a call today in an hour.

I am really not sure. All he said was I was accepted and had me remind him of what I was doing in my gap year and that was that. I will be receiving a letter in the mail.

Well good luck, you need it since you're obviously having a disappointing app cycle 😉

Are there any other OOSers who were complete mid-July and still have not heard anything? I keep waiting for the rejection letter/email, and I'm hoping this post doesn't jinx me into getting it this week.

I heard that interviews that they send out now are for the waitlist? Is this true?

I saw Madison, WI on my caller ID and actually had to stop and breath for a second before answering. SO EXCITED!!

Also, interviewed last week of September for those of you wondering.

Congrats to both of you, glad someone made it.

I came back to the apartment, found a letter in the mail. I was rejected, interview date Sep. 28th (stats in MDapp). I'm shell-shocked right now, I pretty much had my heart set on Madison. Can't understand why rejection, either.

Congrats to both of you! I hope you enjoyed your interview day. Let me know if there are any further questions that a current M1 can answer.

dang so sorry to hear this! best of luck everywhere else. (I know this feeling)..

FWIW the admissions committee is pretty transparent, not sure if they'll talk to you about it this early in the app cycle, but I know that down the line they're happy to discuss why decisions were made. again, good luck at your other schools

Uhhh...I still haven't heard anything concrete about a student host and I'll be there on Thursday. And the connections I thought I had haven't gotten back to me...I'm starting to wonder if I should be making reservations somewhere, not that I really have extra money to throw at that.

edit: nevermind! They emailed me this morning.

I want an interview so badly, but I'm not holding my breath at all.

So what's up with all the Californians applying to the 2 Wisconsin schools? A big portion of MCW is California residents and there were some at my UW interview. Is it that there are just a lot of CA applicants or is WI desirable? I'm just interested because it's something I've noticed.

i could be wrong but I think it's probably mostly bc of how competitive it is for CA residents, there were a ton at my creighton interview as well and similarly, a large portion of their class is from ca

as much as we wisconsin-ites like to think wisco is da bomb I don't know if californians are flocking here just for the beer and cheese 😉

No, it is because they are finally acknowledging that happy cows DON'T come from California... Wisconsin is the place to be! 😎
