I'm in a similar boat. IS, submitted the first day and haven't heard back (however, my residency form is complete). But I do remember hearing/reading somewhere that interview invites were not contingent on residency completeness since you have until next August or something to get them in.

Let me know if you end up calling and asking, I'm really starting to wonder what is going on myself.

Does anyone know if they have sent out rejections to in state people or only invites and "on hold"?

I emailed the admissions last night and got an email early this morning. Apparently my application was never considered for review nor complete due to my residency determination. The fixed the error right away, and my application has been put on the top of the list for review... OH MY GOD..... This anxiety is killing me more than waiting now that I know they're going to look at my file real soon. But then again, what are the chances they're gonna look at it until next week?

I did research throughout all four years of med school; it's very doable if you're good at managing your time.

Can you give an estimate of how many of your classmates do research throughout the school year?

If one was to find a very flexible research position (i.e. come and go as you please, any day of the week), would dedicating 10 hours per week be reasonable to accomplish during ms1 and ms2?

...I would plan on doing the "video lecture" schedule, if that makes a difference.

Dr. Hansen was recently kind enough to update those of us who have been helping with the admissions process and I thought I would pass along the numbers he provided.

"We are pleased to share with you where we are year to date with our interviews.

This year - 275 interviewed (out of an estimated 550)

Last year at this time - 222 interviewed.

72 accepted (out of a class size of 175)"

Happy Thanksgiving and good luck everyone!

I assume that is both IS and OOS combined(?).

Happy Thanksgiving!

Got my official letter today! Hope to see some of you guys for Second Visit on April 13, 2013!

Just looking for a bit of reassurance, but they don't accept/reject edit *all* people from the same interview day on the same day do they?

huh? If they got to your file during the review your decision will be released at the same time. they don't review all ~30 or so people from a single interview day at the same time though

I also have the same issue and would like to know. I still haven't heard back either and I'm IS as well.

I called this morning and explained my situation. Found out my file was reviewed October 2nd and is on hold for further review. I suggest if you were complete in August/September you give them a call and see what's up.

There is now an incoming class of 2013 facebook group that they are emailing out invites to.

Just got a letter in the mail. Rejected. IS. Interviewed 10/19.

No words.

Has anyone IS who interviewed on 10/26 heard back yet? So I could get an idea about my verdict!!!!

Can a previous interviewee talk about the social? I know it's pretty informal, but can I get away with wearing jeans and a nice blouse or should I go for a more formal look? Don't want to be excessively under/overdressed....thanks!

VERY informal, but it doesn't hurt to look a little nice 🙂 It's just a time for you to ask questions about the school and tell you more about the interview. I just saw it as a way to make interviewees less nervous and prevent them from getting lost on the interview day.

What your are thinking of wearing sounds fine. The social is just a nice way to meet some of the other applicants before the interview day and ask any questions you might have regarding what to expect to some of the current students. You literally sit around a big table, eat some snacks and chat.

Received my rejection pre-interview through email this afternoon. 🙁 Good luck to all the rest of you guys! Keep up hope! :luck:

got my II today! woot woot! finally!!! After forgetting about me for so long!

In State
Secondary submitted 8/19

Has anyone who interviewed on 11/9 heard anything yet? I know it's a little soon. Just waiting on pins and needles here. Does anyone know if they call everyone accepted? Has anyone just gotten an acceptance letter? Thanks. :xf:

i interviewed 11/2 and haven't heard. it looks like there are people from 10/26 who still haven't heard yet either.

i'm also wondering if everyone gets called? has anyone who got accepted JUST received the letter and no call?

Are any accepted students planning on taking an online biochemistry course? I am looking into UC-Berkeley's course and it seems like a real pain to do. How do they proctor exams? 😕

Hello, could anyone who has recently been invited to interview please give information on their application completion date/residency status? Thank you!

ACCEPTED!!!! Got the call at 9:30AM this morning from Dr. Hansen!

IS, interviewed on 10/26

Good luck everyone else!!!

Did you interview on 10/26? I had mine on 11/2, so I'm trying to guess how long of a wait I have left. Thanks!

Received a II yesterday after being "on hold" since October.

Also, reading through last years thread people were saying that the interview is weighted less than most schools; it's more or less like another letter of recommendation. Anyone know if there's any truth to this?

I'm suspicious of that given the fact that MSAR has 134 IS matriculating, and one can assume that they accept roughly double that number. That means they decide to give 100 people the ax based on an interview that isn't worth much. Or they just re-evaluate your holistic application after the interview and reconsider... It's all speculation anyway. You have roughly a 60% if you are IS once you get an interview, which is pretty good.

anyone from 11/2 hear yet? anyone know what day they meet? very nervous aaaaahhh

Thanks for pointing that out. It helped calm the nerves a bit.

Has anyone heard that interviewed 11/9? I see some heard from 11/2 and I'm really getting anxious!! Also, does anyone know how often the admissions committee meets? Once a week? :xf:

I think they meet every week and make calls on Monday and Tuesdays.

to anyone wondering where they are in the review, I called and they said that I am up for review next week (i interviewed 11/2) so they must be about halfway through that interview day

Thanks for the update. Looks like anyone that interviewed after 11/9 won't hear back until after the holidays
