3.6 is Vandy's 10th percentile, so technically, he's right. 😛

Edit: Since I know people will ask...

cGPA

10th: 3.601
Median: 3.851
90th: 3.991

MCAT
10th: 31.1
Median: 35.1
90th: 40.1

Estimated Cuttoffs for c/o 2017

> 5,500 applications
< 1,000 secondaries (18%)
~ 500 interviews (9%)
104 person class (< 2%)

Looks about right. One thing to add is that there are normally around 225-275ish acceptances to fill the final class. So The actual "acceptance rate" is a little higher than the 2%, closer to 5-6%.

I still have the red Xs for my LOR status even though they were already in AMCAS more than 3 weeks ago.. I called them and asked about it and they said they were just doing it manually so that's why it is so slow. Is anyone else having this problem?

Yes...im pushing 4 weeks.

i submitted last tuesday, and had the red X's for LOR's for about a week.

checked yesterday, and it had switched to check marks!

edit: didnt last batch of II's and secondaries come out on the same day?

Nice! My LORs are still a red crossed out box and I was in before you 😳

Got the secondary yesterday, pretty excited to apply here. Now I just need to actually write it....

it's actually pretty tough...but a piece of cake compared to Duke's or UMiami's.

Do you need to complete Pre reqs for vandy before applying or before matriculation??

I think for most schools, Vanderbilt included, you only have to complete them before matriculation. You should, however, have most of them completed because it's important for the schools to see your performance in those courses to evaluate you as an applicant as well.

In case you didn't already all know, VMS Classes 2017 (you guys) and later will have a one year preclinical curriculum.

This means that you will have all of your rotations done by the end of the second year, before you take Step 1.

Here is a curriculum map (entering 2013): https://medschool.vanderbilt.edu/ume/curriculum-2-schematic

Hi guys,

So my amcas was verified 7/28 and I still haven't gotten a secondary invitation..I probably was screened out...but was curious if a lot of other people who were verified after that have already gotten secondaries?

thanks!

Verified 7/30 and still waiting... Holding out hope a little longer at least

if it is of any help, I got a secondary on 8/29; I was verified 8/2; so they take their sweet time.

From verification to secondary it took about a month and a half for me, so no worries, guys.

GL then! Im assuming u already pre-wrote...if not, do so if u have the time.

haha didn't pre-write... i lack self confidence i think haha and vandy will be secondary #30... so can't make myself do it and get even more disappointed 🙁

wow...30? yea..ur stats can't really be that bad unless u applied to all top 20s.

i have 10 reaches based on stats... (though every school feels like a reach these days) low mcat 🙁 but i left the country so didn't get to retake sigh... so vandy is a long shot IMO... let's see... hope the app cycle is going well for u! thanks for the optimism 🙂

also the BU quick rejection isn't rlly helping with the low self esteem issues haha i need to attend some sort of premed self empowerment support group at some point... maybe i'll start a thread for it ;P

😉 U'll do fine this cycle...get off SDN once in a while...the neuroticism here is not really helpful.

U Right homie ... lemme get offline and finish NU's secondary since I finally got that one three days ago sigh... 😳

are we supposed to get a "complete e-mail" after submitting the secondary app??😕

After reading some of the posts from this thread, I feel like my judgement day is coming soon. Verified 8/6, and applied with 3.72/34. Did anyone get a secondary with similar stats? I feel like this is gonna be a super reach, but it's a dream school for me 😳.

ORM, because I'm Asian.

I just looked at your MDapps page. My God. How did you manage to fit all those ECs into 3 years of undergrad AND find the time to study to get those stats? If I ever need an organ transplant, I want you performing the operation.

Haha I was thinking the same thing about him as well. /bow to Mr. KDizzle

Quite honestly I'm disappointed in the non symmetry among the subscores. A 13 in VR isn't going to cut it, sir.

To make this a somewhat relevant post, I'm now awaiting my pre-secondary rejection.

Secondary Received 8/29 in the middle of another school's interview haha. Damn glad I had my phone off for that. Anyone know how many secondaries they plan on giving and how many interviews?

EDIT: Nevermind about the secondary and interview info. I scrolled up.

Received sometime in the second round, and submitted about 4 days later.

Similar stats and received a secondary in the second batch (though I was verified a while earlier than you). Still hoping for a chance to interview here but no news as of yet. It seems as though they really do take their time and obviously are concerned with more than stats... This whole process is a crap-shoot. With that said, keep the faith and good luck!

I would agree with this. Admissions may be a crap shoot, but I really respect how Vandy handles their admissions process. I hope they give me a shot at an interview as well. I too, am anxiously awaiting my fate. 😍:xf:

Rejected (snail mail). HUGE reach, so not really disappointing since I wasn't hoping for much there. Good luck to all!

Would any of the Vandy students (?Nymphicus, please?) be able to tell me what a good hotel to stay in is? Something kind of close? Also, if you could comment on how to get from the hotel to the interview area that would be great. Thanks!

Received my rejection via mail today too to the surprise of no one haha I'll survive though. Good luck everyone!

Rejected via snail mail today. Not shocked. Good luck to everyone who's still in the running!

I would actually recommend student hosting.

Other than that, there is the Loews Vanderbilt which is where they put us for second look. It's about a 20 minute walk through the campus to get to the medical school. The Loews might be a bit on the pricy side, but I know there is also a Holiday Inn near there and some other hotels on West End or Division St that are close-ish.

There is also a conference center called the Scarrit-Bennett center across the street and I know some people stayed there for interviews.

Rejected via snail mail.....ah well. 🙁
