Rejected via mail. 3.8+ 34R. Kinda surprised actually.

That was the most pathetic rejection letter I've ever read. Oh well, Tennessee is too hot for me, anyway. 😛

Any post secondary rejections?

No secondary after more than a month....anxiously awaiting that snail mail rejection as well

I'd really like to know too.

Doesn't look like it. All the snail mail rejections so far seem to be pre-secondary. And besides they've only given IIs to those in the first group batch of secondaries (released around 7/13) thus far so I'd wait around at least until IIs to those in your batch of secondaries have been coming out to get worried.

There has actually been one II from the second wave reported. Don't know that this means much though

What the hell. My AMCAS application was verified on 8/14 and I have yet to receive a secondary from Vanderbilt! I applied to 20 schools and all my secondaries are complete except for this one. I just want to be done.... anyone know when the next round of secondaries will go out?😕

the secondary prompts are available in this forum, so if you just want to be done, you can prewrite them. vandy does a pretty intense screen, most people dont get the secondary.

First, 80-90% of applicants don't even receive a secondary.

Also, the last batch went out around 8/29 and that was for the beginning of August at latest so they likely haven't reached you yet (I'm guessing this is the peak time for most applications coming in so it takes longer and longer time to review compared to if you submitted in the very first batch). I also don't think they review strictly by when they received your primary application. I know for the people who were verified by late June early July, some people received their secondary invites in the first batch in mid July and some received them in the second batch (when the first batch secondaries got their interview invites) in mid-August.

Hope that helps. Might as well just move on and start preparing for the interview season. One secondary shouldn't stop your preparation for that (especially since you applied to 20 schools).

Been verified since 6/8 and no secondary response yet. Should I call?

You could call but I don't know what else you could ask them besides whether they have received all the materials (your primary) and they'll probably give you a vague/standard answer on the status of your application. I don't think it would hurt to do that though. Since they've already started sending rejections via snail-mail and you haven't gotten a rejection, I'd say you're still in the running. wish you :luck: in getting a secondary.

Anybody know if post-secondary rejections are sent in the mail?

Anybody know if post-secondary rejections are sent in the mail?

Don't think anyone would really know because they've been giving out the combined secondary/interview invites for at least the past few years and its the first year they would have such a thing as post secondary rejections. I would think that it would be the same method as pre-secondary rejections but that's just speculation. Then again, I dont even think its 100% clear that they even do give out post-secondary rejections so we'll have to see.

I submitted my amcas the day it opened, it was verified probably the day after and I got my secondary 8/29. So it looks like as long as you aren't rejected, you're still in the running. and, for the record, i got the secondary despite a 3.2 cGPA so they're definitely looking closely at these apps for something beyond stats.

In honor of the first years starting anatomy I present you with a picture of the anatomy lab.

Took almost a month to get the blue marks? I should stop checking everyday then 🙁 Hope you hear from them soon!

does anybody know how many people vanderbilt is going to interview this year? around 850 like last year?

When did all the people who got rejected get the application received email?

For the people who are offered secondaries, only half of them will be receiving interviews.

Yeah same here finally, and I submitted on the 20th.

Thanks for the info, do you have a source for this?

I talked with someone on the admissions committee

Thanks for the info! Did you get any idea about how many people are being given secondaries or how many people are going to receive IIs?

Anyone with knowledge about the "new" curriculum care to share some insight? It seems like a pretty radical change from the previous curriculum. Specifically, can someone give more info about what exactly immersion blocks are? Their descriptions on the website are very broad...

Immersion blocks are basically electives that normally will be used for one of the following:

- elective clinical rotations

- "immersion courses"
The idea behind this is to learn/relearn the basic science behind what you are applying in clinic. For example, an immersion course in cardiac drugs might have you go over the pharm and physio of the heart and applicable target drugs as a didactic portion while also rotating with the cardiology service in the hospital. These immersion courses would be selected from a list of course offerings.

- research elective time

- global health elective

Also to note--these are all movable within the last two years, so you can individualize when and where you do what.
The course map found here is one example layout: https://medschool.vanderbilt.edu/ume/curriculum-2-schematic

Vanderbilt is looking for a new medical school admissions director. I saw the ad on Indeed.com. Anybody with a master's degree and experience in admissions? Go for it and lit some light on the admissions secret!!! LOL 😀

Does anyone know if they will be sending out any more secondaries?

Edit:: Stupid question. They obviously will send out more if the application deadline hasn't rolled around yet. How long was it between people's "received" email and a rejection letter? My 8 weeks will be up on Wednesday and I haven't heard yet...
