So how many people are going to the interview on Friday? Anyone have any tips for us? What kind of stuff do they ask during the interview? They are really big on research right?

Great to know...do you mind elaborating on how its become more of an emphasis? Do you think Wake's performance during the match this year is a direct result of that? (i.e what else could the variable be?)

Actually Wake's performance during our most recent match was not a function of their Step 1 scores... that class's step 1 cumulative performance was pretty bad, which is one of the main reasons it has become more of an emphasis in subsequent years. But the fact is, plenty of students in their class did fine on Step 1, and therefore they matched just fine; the class average isn't important in determining individual match results. The average can be indicative, however, of how well the school does to prepare its students for Step 1. Administrators here love to emphasize that our students do really well on Step 2, but have only recently seemed to recognize that we really need better preparation for Step 1 as well. And thus far they have not made any major curricular changes to that end, but they have been better about providing students with prep materials and guidance... [As an aside, my suspicion is also that student selection has changed in some way. My class was selected by a different dean of admissions than previous classes. I'm not sure how their criteria changed, but my class is widely believed to be more ambitious than previous classes, and that definitely reflects in our scores.]

So, will we get some decisions on the 12th, or is the committee meeting on the 12th and we'll hear back on the 13th?

I think they said they're meeting on the 12th. If you look through the thread it looks like statuses are usually updated the day after the committee meeting, though they told us it might take til Dec. 19.

Has anyone been accepted off the alternate list after sending in a LOI yet this year? If so, to whom should a LOI be addressed and which email address should it be sent to?

See below. Not sure what email address to send it to, but I would check Wake's website for the admissions email address.

I was put on the waitlist on the 10/15, sent a LOI, and then got accepted on 11/8! So they do look at the waitlist at each committee meeting 🙂

I called the admissions office and the lady I spoke to told me to address it to Dr. Grier. Hope that helps!

Hi, can someone who's interviewed tell me whether or not the interviews are open or closed filed. On the interview feedback section it seems like some people had open file interviews while others had closed file interviews which is confusing. Sorry if this has already been addressed in one of the previous 16 pages.

Thank you!

Edit: I just read that the interviewers have access only to our secondary essays and personal statement. Can someone confirm this? Thanks again.

I interviewed and it was kinda hard to tell, but I think they just have your personal statement and secondary essay. No grades for sure, but I'm not sure about the activities in AMCAS. It didn't seem they did, but maybe.

My interviewers told me they only had my personal statement, so not sure if they have secondary essays or not. Definitely nothing else from your AMCAS application. I thought the interviews were short and not stressful which was nice. Good luck!

Committee meeting today! :xf: Good luck to everyone under review

i think the news from the meeting today will go out tomorrow.

Rejected from md/phd, got the email this morning

Incredibly quiet around these parts...

I've basically been in a catatonic state for the past few days waiting for news. Oh Wake, where art thou..?

FEELS SO GREAT!!!!!!!!....to still be on the waitlist

Put on the waitlist. Stats in MDApps. Interviewed on November 27th.

Accepted 😀 Interviewed Nov 28th, So happy about this one. Liked everything about the school 👍 Good luck to everyone else.

Just want to say good luck to everyone on this thread. I was an '07 undergraduate at Wake Forest and loved every second of it. I'll be attending Robert Wood Johnson (Rutgers) for medical school, but might be back down there in 4 years for a residency.

Good luck! You guys will love it...

and three words: MOUNTAIN FRIED CHICKEN! Go there.

What do you mean, your status page? When do you get a "status page?"
In one of the earlier e-mails from Wake Forest you get a link to a page where you can check you application status. You also get an app ID and some other number you need to sign into it to check.

Do we know the next date that they're going to extend acceptances?

For those of you who have already been accepted here and received your letter was there an official reply paper included in there or are we supposed to just write some kind of reply on our own? I think my acceptance letter was mailed to my apt but I am out of town for a whole month so I won't actually have my letter in hand.

You have to write on your own...

I didn't get anything in the mail. I sent an email accepting my place in the class, and the admissions office confirmed that they'd received the email and are holding a spot for me.

Thanks! Do you know if we have to send the deposit in right away? Or if FAP applicants can get a waiver for the deposit? Another school I was accepted to did that.

Hm, not sure! The pdf only gives an explicit deadline for notifying them whether we accept or decline their offer. I sent in my deposit yesterday; I would call the school to ask about getting a waiver.

I can't seem to find a match list for Wake online (only a list of how many people placed in each specialty). Is there a more comprehensive list somewhere? Also, what percentage of Wake students match?

I know a lot of people say that match lists shouldn't factor in to my choice of med school, but I'm wondering if going to Wake will make it harder for me to get a residency spot at a non-southern hospital?

Going to Wake won't make it harder to get a residency elsewhere in the country per se, but remember that it's always easier to get a local residency when you graduate med school, meaning if you want a west coast or northeast residency you should go to a west coast or northeast school, respectively.

Anyone know where I can find last years match list?

II, OOS, complete in August 🙂

Can't remember if I posted in here but I interviewed last month. 3.2ish/33

Sent from my SGH-T999 using SDN Mobile

Are they receptive to pre interview update letters?

Interviewing here tomorrow... Anyone who has interviewed already have any last minute advice??
