Wait listed too. Kind of bummed but oh well.
Where is everyone checking their status at?
This is on the secondary:
"Indicate the name and year, if known, of relative(s) with relationships with our insitution: currently enrolled at or alumnus of Wake Forest University School of Medicine or Wake Forest University; House Officer of North Carolina Baptist Hospital; on the Faculty of Wake Forest University Health Sciences."
What do they mean by "year." Birth year of relative? Age? Year in school (but what if relative is a graduate)? Year of graduation?
Where you actually enter the value, it says "Years" if that helps at all.
Your assistance is appreciated.
Accepted!!!!!!!!!
I got into both of these two as well? Which are you leaning towards. I'm pretty sure I'll be choosing SLU!! 😀
Just out of curiosity...what makes you choose SLU over Wake?

It's so hard because I totally fell in love with both programs. I'll probably choose Wake because I'm an NC resident, but it's a tough call. I'm going to see if Ii recieve a substantially better financial aide package from one or the other. Congratulations! I'm sure you feel just as elated as I do.
One thing to remember if you're interested in staying in NC for the long term:
For Wake Forest, the state of NC will loan you up to $56,000 throughout your four years of medical school. Then, after residency, if you practice in NC for at least four years in ANY specialty in ANY region, the $56,000 loan will be entirely forgiven. If you leave NC, it just becomes a regular loan. More info here: http://www.cfnc.org/FELS
Of course, the same program applies at UNC and ECU...just imagine how cheap THOSE schools would be if you utilized this loan repayment program!! 🙂
That's amazing! I'm surprised they didn't mention it in financial aide talk at Wake, although I guess they aren't catering exclusively to NC residents. Certainly something very useful to keep in mind. $56,000 is quite a chunk of change!

Interviewing on December 3. Just to confirm, Wake doesn't have student hosting?
I am doing the secondary, and I'm having trouble finding unique information about Wake.
So I got verified early October (very late I know) and I have received secondaries from all the schools I applied to except for this one. I have a 37 mcat and a 3.9+ Gpa, so I dont think it is a screening issue. Is it normal for Wake to take a long time to send the secondary?
Thanks.

MDApps says they were offered a scholarship at SLU? I agree with hmoactktey, open up some spots for the rest of us!The acceptance train is starting to fill up. I want to be able to join the club after my interview and not have to sit at the waiting station!
Well tell Wake now and help out the rest of us!
Alternate list...How soon should I send a letter of intent? Is there a such thing as too soon? Can any current students out there comment on how they wrote the letter? Thanks.
Yeah, I'm a first year here, I wrote my letter of intent April 1st, I had a very scattered interview schedule, so I was interviewing though March, I knew Wake was my #1 choice, but I wanted to give all the schools a fair shot. I would say finish out a comfortable number of interviews first, and then write it, another school may surprise you. Also, to clear up some falsities on this thread, Wake is hardly a 'primary care' focused school. Yes, wake has the Community practice experience as part of their curriculum, but so do Duke and UNC, and with the rising board scores here over the past few years, Wake is looking to keep it's match list competitive with Duke, Vandy, MUSC and UNC. We are certainly very different from a school like ECU, which is heavily primary care oriented. Surgery is huge here, especially plastics, ortho, and trauma,Alternate list...How soon should I send a letter of intent? Is there a such thing as too soon? It will be hard to demonstrate a special interest in the school when you took so long to send the secondary (or maybe you just got the secondary, but that would mean you didn't designate them on AMCAS until way late). Unless you can come up with something convincing, it may be in your best interest to just be honest (not make something up about why you like them) and hope they like the rest of your application.
Finally got my secondary. Is it common to leave the personal statement section blank? I usually do not answer additional comment sections, but this one is asked in a way where it seems more mandatory.
What did you guys do?

So I was searching through the thread, and I don't think the U.S. news stats have been posted on here yet. Could someone who has access post them? (applied, interviewed, accepted, matric, etc). Thanks!

I got an interview without writing the optional essay
