Just withdrew my application over break, so hopefully another OOS applicant will be offered an interview soon. As beautiful as WV is, it is hard to put up $$$ for tuition.

Do we call them to find out where we stand on the waiting list? I also emailed WVU about sending in my fall transcript but still haven't received a reply. Does it have to be from the school? Will an unofficial transcript suffice?

They won't indicate your place on the list. email Beth Ann if you haven't already for advice on the transcript.

Interview on Monday. I'm assuming its pretty laid back as with most other interviews, but welcoming any last minute tips. From reading here, I can see all the OOS are waitlisted anyway so not much harm in interviewing this late, eh? 😀

Good luck, it was a pretty laid back and easy going day and interview. And yea Beth Ann said that they do not rank those on the waitlist so I don't think it'll affect you too much.

Hey guys! I'm interviewing on January 16th. Anyone else?

I should see you there on the 16th. It's a blood expensive flight from Oregon, but I am certain it is worth it. Plus it'd be my first time back since I had to leave to the West Coast.

The admissions committee assigns a score to each applicant from 1-9 which determines your place on the wait list. WVU does not release this info to the applicants as to score or place on the list.

I was just telling you guys what she wrote in my email.

"We do not rank our waitlist so I can’t tell you where you are on the list, sorry" Beth Ann

Does anyone know what time/ what room number we meet? I'm interviewing Monday and on my way to Morgantown and I just realized I forgot my paper! I don't think anyone will answer my emails in time! I'm going to be so embarrassed if I have to call Monday morning.

the verbiage from my interview offer:

"Please arrive by 10:00 am and report to the School of Medicine Student Services Office, Room 1146, 1st Floor, Health Science Center North"

hope this is of help to you, good luck!

If there is one thing I've learned, never trust a middle man/woman. It's not that they are evil and going to lie to you just for fun, it's just that the people they are dealing with are unlikely to like the truth. And as the middle person, you never really know what changes and, there is nothing one can do. It's easier to just say "we do not rank" rather than "we won't tell."

Congrats to everyone accepted!

Unfortunately I didn't apply until REALLY LATE (didn't get my secondary complete till mid December)! AHHH... Anyways, I'm to interview Feb. 4th, anyone have any idea of how many slots are still open?

Thanks! I'll still call and check but I at least know what building I'm going to. I'm liking Morgantown so far! Goodluck to everyone else interviewing!

about how long after the interview did you guys hear? have some OOS been accepted?

Where did you guys stay?

I stayed at the Hampton Inn. It was a really nice hotel within walking distance from the school. I tried to do the Medstay, but because of a mail issue ended up not getting my invite until 2 weeks before my interview. So if you have no one to stay with, I highly recommend the Hampton.

What do you think my chances are, I only applied to WVU. I am graduating with a doctorate from pharmacy school in may with a 3.9 graduate GPA and 3.96 undergraduate GPA. I didn't have much time to study for the MCAT so ended up with a 25Q. My interview went great, I have a ton of extra curricular activities, and years of healthcare experience including working with physicians. I am a WV resident. Honestly, what do you think my chances are?

I am have interviewed and am just awaiting my letter. Thanks.

Hmm I think you have a decent chance since WVU has very stronge in-state bias. If you don't mind me asking, why did you do pharm and then now apply for an MD degree?

As I told the interviewers, I enjoy the clinical aspect of medicine. I like diagnosing patients and treating them.. The problem solving associated with doctors is amazing. I truly went to pharmacy school fully intending to practice pharmacy. Yes there are clinical positions in pharmacy, but they are few and far between and not the same depth that I desire. I believe pharmacy is a great base of knowledge for medicine and I pray to god that things work in my favor.

i'd say your chances are good for a straight up acceptance, but dont be surprised to start out on the waitlist. good luck!

When will we see movement on the waitlist? (I don't feel like combing for the answer  )

For the most part, May. In March I think last year they moved a little, but most people on it either got rejected or told "keep on waiting."

Pretty much not until after may 15th, that's the date that people holding multiple acceptance letters have to make a decision on one and withdraw the others.

To mikemskatet: Congrats on your acceptance! I read your earlier post, and just wondering, did you interview January 2 by any chance?? And already get your letter? I interviewed on that day so just wondering when I should expect to hear! 🙂

I am interviewing Friday and I have a couple of quick questions (this is my first interview): When you enter the room and greet the interviewers are you able to shake their hands or something or is it just a verbal greeting and sit? Also, did they ask any questions about the essay questions we answered for the secondary? Were there any questions that stuck out for anybody? So far it seems everyone had pretty straightforward interviews based on their application...

My interview experience did have a lot of questions off of my application, and also some questions about personal strengths and weaknesses. They also asked me an ethical question so I'd be prepared for that in case. Good luck!

Also there were no questions from the secondary, you do get to shake their hands, and other than the ethical type questions there was nothing aside from what was on my application. It was also my first interview so I was nervous, but you'll feel so much better once it's done!

My questions where about my application, I actually got asked some of the essay questions like what was the biggest obstacle you overcame. I, however, did not get an ethical question but its always good to expect one just in case, you don't want to be caught off guard. Ultimately it was a relaxed and easy interview, and if you look over your application for the school and have a general idea of what strengths and weaknesses or significant experiences you want to talk about if asked, you should be comfortable for this and almost any interview, in my opinion. Good luck!

Hmm. I didn't have a single question that wasnt about my application when I interviewed in October. I am OOS and was wait listed if anyone wanted to know

Thanks, and if you don't mind me asking, what was the ethical question like?
