Haha nice! I hope this means there will be lots of waitlist movement for OOS people.

and i sure hope they take care of the IS people first and foremost 😀

Oh whoops I thought it said you were OOS haha. Well in that case, I hope there is a lot of waitlist movement period 👍

I have an interview January 3rd. Just got my letter this week do to issues with the mail, so I am very excited and nervous. This will be my first interview. I'm OOS so I am having issues finding affordable tickets. =/
I'm hoping even though I am OOS that since I have relatively strong ties to WV I have a chance of getting in. Wish me luck! Is any one else interviewing that day or does anyone have any advice since I have never been to Morgantown and have not had an interview yet?

About the town I dont know too much but the interview day itself is pretty great, one of my favorites. The faculty (Sherryl & Beth Ann) are real nice and helpful. You simply get a small talk on what to expect for the day, they show you a video about each campus and at one point the dean comes by to answer any questions. You then get a tour of the school and lunch at which point you can ask the students (they are the ones who take you to lunch and show you the school) anything you want, and they are pretty honest and candid about their thoughts. Once all that is over you go back to the room you started your day in and wait for your interviews as a group, getting called one by one. Your interview is 30 mins long and with 2 interviewers at the same time. Seems daunting but I thought it was extremely laid back and like everyone else has said, they just ask about your application. Beyond questions on your app they also have a list of generic questions (why WVU?, Name a strong and weak point you see in yourself?, and Hardship you have had to overcome?) those where the questions I got that I can remember. Once you are done interviewing you may leave, so you got to hope you are one of the first to go otherwise you are waiting for a bit. Overall WVU really surprised me as I originally went to do my due diligence but didn't think I would go there if accepted. Looking back I am glad I went because I can definitely see myself going to school there (if accepted).

I know i went a bit into detail but just been cooped up at work all day so figured I could use this as a break and reflect on my time there.

Good Luck!

No, thank you for being so detailed. I am glad to know what to expect, though I will still probably be very nervous when I get there. I can't wait to see the area. I have only been around Huntington and Charleston.
Thank you again, and hope you hear good news soon!

Don't be nervous, the interview is VERY laid back. The interviewers I had were very easy going. The only thing that bugged me was that it was hot in the room and I was sweating a little (tiny bit) and it might have made it seem like i was nervous.

Also Morgantown is a hell of a town, so freaking hilly. Like the residential streets are pretty much 45 degrees inclines or more, i was scared my little car wouldn't make it.

dont ask why, but i just dont feel hopeful about getting in off the WL, even as an IS applicant. i need to be more patient and just be happy i'm sitting on an acceptance already i suppose.

Tell me about it. I must lose 10 pounds a day sweating from walking up and down hills on my way to work and out with my dog (of course I then gain it all back 😛). Getting around in Morgantown is it's own form of exercise.

Yea, you got me beat. I'm riding the waitlist train. With multiple tickets to unknown destinations with possibilities of rejection-town, acceptance-ville, and perpetual limbo.

That I am excited about, I live in Florida. A 4 foot hill is a mountain to us. lol. Spent my summer is WV though. Love the mountains. Fingers crossed I get to spend the next four years living there. 🙂

Interview on November 19th, accepted November 26th. Quick turnaround but I am IS so it makes sense.

Hey all,

New to SDN, thought I'd jump in on the action. Secondary Submitted 9/10, Interviewed 12/6, Wait listed as of 12/17. I am OOS from Buffalo, NY (no ties to WV) with 3.89 GPA and 32Q MCAT since people likes to hear stats. Overall I loved the school, everyone was super nice, highly recommend the MedStay program and the interview process is pretty laid back.

Best of luck to everyone and happy holidays!

Hey guys, so I know they meet the Tuesday after the interview and send letters out on Wed. Would sending in an updated transcript matter at all? I did pretty well this semester and I thought it might be a good thing to do but I wanted you all's input on it.

I personally think that updates are usually welcome after interviews at most schools. Moreover, they show you have continued interest and in your case strengthen your candidacy, so I would say yes, send in an update.

Good luck!

Edit: Nevermind...checked spam and got one haha

Aw man. I was hoping it was some kind of sign that I was accepted and my email was put in the system 🙁 Too good to be true.

Had my interview on 12-14 and haven't heard anything back- IS. Kinda worries me that I didn't get one.

Hey guys for the waitlist, just copy the previous one, delete the quotes at the beginning and end, and add your name to the list.

So, I never had a premed advisor or anyone to counsel me on the proper processes of applying for schools and updates etc. I was wondering if anyone could answer a couple questions regarding updates.

Is it necessary or should I update schools that I have added on one semester to take a course in cell bio and now am graduating spring '13 instead of dec '12? Should I only update those who I have scheduled interviews for or all that I have sent out a secondary to?

Also I have elected not to send out secondarys to a hand full of schools that I submitted an amcas application at. Do I need to update them that I am withdrawing my application or can I just leave it as is?

I had waited to let WVU know that I had added on one semester at the interview and I am not sure if that was unwise and possibly hurt me or if that is a non issue... Any advise/feedback is appreciated.

Yikes, and this is just who is on this thread. Is there a point where they send you a letter announcing what your position is on the waitlist or has anyone tried calling to find out if they will provide more info as to how large the waitlist is etc.?

I could be wrong, but I thought that I read they DO reject post interview. However judging from this thread it doesn't seem like it.

adcom scores each applicant on a scale of 1-9. the policy is not to disclose the applicants score nor indicate where they are on the WL.

Hi all!

Just found this thread and thought I'd share. Got an interview Jan 28! Very excited as my MCAT score was pretty low ( B8 P9 V8 = 25.) GPA 3.7. IS, Returned Peace Corps Volunteer. Hoping they appreciate a unique applicant!

Well congrats, you are instate so you have a shot. The med student I stayed with had an mcat of 24 or 25 I think. Good luck

Anyone waitlisted or rejected AND receive a Happy Holidays email from WVU?

I'm OOS waitlisted, and I received a Happy Holidays email from WVU.

I'm at home now and I had my letter sent to my present address 🙁 Gotta go and see if I'm waitlisted or rejected.
