I interviewed this week, and they told me that They probably won't present me to the committee for two more weeks because they still have a lot of applicants to present. It all depends.They meet every Tuesday. So if you are OOS my guess is that it will take at least a month to receive a letter. Stay positive.

Mine lasted about 40-45 minutes.

Mine says the same thing as well. I think they put it on all of our letters to provide a false sense of hope. It would be nice if they were more discriminate about the language used in their letters. And it would be even nicer if I am wrong and it really does mean we're higher on the list. Here's to hoping!

it is strong wording. i can't say that i have been favorably impressed too often in my life 😳

during the interview day lunch, I asked a med student whether it was true that most OOS applicants get waitlisted at first. and she was so awkward about it and wouldn't answer the question...

Guess we know the answer...

I think they keep the class fairly open until May in order to see all of the applicants first and decide from there. I've heard they are particularly interested in seeing all of the IS applicants before making decisions. At least being on the waitlist at WVU means you have a pretty decent shot?

I personally think it's a bad idea for them to waitlist everyone. I know if I had been waitlisted I would have probably committed to another school by now just so I didn't have to wait until May to know where I was moving. I bet they miss out on some good applicants because of that.

Applicants are ranked on a scale from 1 to 9.

Someone told me they knew someone who got rejected, but based on this thread I'm not 100% sure they didn't mean waitlisted.

Well if you look at the list on here is not very long. I was told that about 75 seats are for Instate and the rest so about 40-45 seats are for OOS. the class can be from 110-120 seats, I think thats what one of the students mention. maybe they are accepting most WL candidates. I am still waiting on the letter. I know that the board meets tomorrow, so I will be praying really hard. Good luck to everyone.

Someone told me they knew someone who got rejected, but based on this thread I'm not 100% sure they didn't mean waitlisted.

They definitely do REJECT (and by reject, I mean reject) post-interview. It seems pretty rare, but it does happen. I know of an instance of this, and if you browse through previous years' threads you will see evidence of this on SDN too.

it was a single letter dated 2/13 that also included a 4 page packet describing the expectation and demands of being a medical student. you are to sign the back page indicating your intentions to accept or not and return to beth ann.
