2013-2014 Dartmouth College (Geisel) Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
When I read your comment I imagined someone calling me on the phone to tell me I was waitlisted. I think that'd be kinda mean haha.

Waitlisted over email, interviewed early September. Probably withdrawing from waitlist though.

Makes me think we sound good on paper but horrible in real life haha

Anyone know if Dartmouth is still sending out interviews? I submitted an update and they said they are still reviewing my file but it's getting kind of late in the cycle now.

I believe they interview until April, so they probably are still sending IIs

Great news, thank you! That kind of stinks though seeing as some schools have a multiple acceptance deadline of March 15th. You think med schools would try to make this easier for everyone by having similar deadlines!

I thought the May 15th deadline was an AAMC trafficking rule for all MD schools. How can some have their own deadline?

I've never heard of that either. Id be interested to know what schools have a march deadline.

I've never heard March. I know some schools have a April deadline (the ones that start in July like U of Arizona).

Drexel does not give you your deposit back after March 15th :-/ so I guess it isn't a formal multiple acceptance deadline but you have withdraw by then if you want your money back.

I've been complete since late September and haven't heard anything yet. Should I take it as a silent rejection? I was thinking to write a LOI as a last attempt to get an interview idk. This is my top choice (although I'm sure it is for many).

Finally rejected today 🙁 definitely sad about this one.
Was complete end of August

Sorry terp, dont give up
Thanks 🙂
Was always holding out hope for Dartmouth but at least now I know and am not waiting. And i have been fortunate with the rest of my cycle so it's all good in the long run

Slash does anyone know what interview dates/group they're shifting through now during the Committee Meetings?

Rejected this morning. Stats on MDapps.

Complete late September. Good luck to those still waiting!

This is just speculation, but on last year's thread the last interviews were given out around mid March... Each year is different but I wouldn't throw in the towel yet!

Even though the rest of my app is strong, if I get an interview with a 30 on my MCAT with 9s on 2 sections I might actually crap my pants I'll be so excited/shocked. I'm a pessimist so I'm thinking my rejection is just waiting to be sent

I submitted my secondary a few days before the deadline, and predictably I haven't heard anything about an interview offer as of now. Has anyone else who submitted the secondary a few days before the deadline heard back yet? Thanks

Also what is the latest interview date someone has been offered / when did you receive the offer?

Rejected just now...complete early August...was still hoping for a shot but what can you do

Anyone know when Geisel starts post-interview rejections?

For those that have been accepted, are we suppose to receive something in the mail? (Large package detailing the next steps?) If so when does this usually arrive... just curious. Thanks!

Rejected. Complete in July. Not sure I had any business applying here in the first place. Good luck to everyone else!

Yes, it actually just contains a handwritten card and a letter you have to sign to maintain your spot.

Hey guys!

Just got an II! Super excited.

Ps it was right after I sent an "in the area" email. They were very nice about trying to work with my schedule - which made me like this school even more!

They had 3 dates available, March 11th being the latest one.

For those of you who have already interviewed there, would you recommend me having a car during my visit? I am in BOS right now and am debating whether I should take the Dartmouth Coach or just get a rental and have more flexibility. Any thoughts?

Dartmouth coach seemed great to me. Comfy seats, WiFi, on-board DVD movie, and free water bottles and pretzels.

Dartmouth Coach is awesome. If you're already in Boston, definitely don't get a car. It takes you directly into campus, which is within walking distance of the medical school.

I guess it's coming down to the wire now. March 11 possibly the last interview date?

In addition to being super convenient, the Dartmouth Coach tends to be cheaper than a rental car!

Do you mind sharing stats? Thank you and good luck!

Thank you!!

Non-traditional, 3.8 gpa and 33 MCAT.

Also do you guys know about the student host list? It doesn't say anything on my interview invitation email.

I received a wait list email a few weeks ago. I interviewed on November 21st.

congrats! you'll receive a follow-up email with the student host website info once you confirm your date!

Does anyone think it is worth it to send a letter of interest preinterview with a 3.9 gpa 30 mcat or is the mcat too low?

I thought Dartmouth was one of those schools that interview until April?
Based on last years thread, the last interview was around mid march. So I think it'll be March 11 this year, if the guy above only had 3 dates left to choose from, the last one being March 11

They give you three dates to choose from. There could very well be interviews after the days they give you.
