Called the admissions office today to ask if they had received the update letter I uploaded to the site. I can't describe it but the admissions officer sounded wary, as if she already knew my fate. I know I sound crazy or as if I'm reading into too much but I'm fairly good at assessing tone as well. My guess is that my app has been tossed in a reject pile already. Blah.
I was just going to ask if they were receptive of pre-interview updates as I have heard nothing since Sept. Sounds like they are, but I am just curious when you were complete and when you ultimately decided to send along the update?

Wow...II a few minutes ago! Crazy, totally wasn't expecting it.

OOS, 3.3/35, experience with underserved in the US and abroad, 3 years of research.

So they interview 400+ for a class of 60...I'm guessing they accept maybe 120?

Hah, looks like they're working on a Sunday! Congrats!! Do you happen to know how many dates are left? When are you interviewing?

The only selections that were available to me were the 14th, 17th, and 21st of this month. I was going to do the 17th, but in the middle of finding plane tickets the 17th date disappeared from the website and was replaced by the 24th. So now I will be interviewing on the 21st.

Moral of the story, if you really want a certain date, you might want to jump on it as soon as you get the invite. Another theory: the administration realized that the 17th was President's Day and took it off the calendar. I'm actually leaning more towards the latter, now that I think about it.

Got an II at around 3. Scheduled for 2/17/14. I think people may have just taken those dates is all.

Late february interviews aren't interviewing for the waitlist, right? Also how are the interviews?

Sorry, I haven't logged in in a while. I sent my update on January 21st and have heard nothing yet.

I wish they would just tell us if we've been sent to the reject pile already?

II today, complete 8/11 OOS. No word since/no updates sent. I will be declining this invite

II today! Complete sometime in mid-August. 3.7, 30, OOS. Non-trad.

Which airport is the best to fly into? Also, how does someone without a driver's license get to the school from the airport?

Thanks!

Well... it's not exactly public transportation friendly. If you're willing to spend a bit of cash, you can fly into HVN airport and then take a taxi... if you want to save a few bucks, you can take the G bus to the C bus out to the campus. It takes a while, though.

I don't actually go to school/live there, though, so maybe someone else can let you know an easier way.

Edit: I should add my congratulations!! 🙂

I live here and johnamo is correct, it isn't very public transport friendly. The best would be to fly into Bradley and take a cab down, it may be costly but it is the easiest. Some at my interview day flew into NYC, took the subway to New Haven and then hopped on a cab there. I will tell you that at the interview they told us that having a DL and a car is a requirement because you will have to travel to their affiliated clinical sites and to your MD mentor's office every week or so. Also, as we mentioned already public transport is horrible here. A current student told us that he rides his bike to campus but that isn't possible in the winter (CT is blistering cold and gets a fair amount of snow). Good luck for you interview day! Its an awesome school and they are very supportive of their students and staff. They are also very accommodating to their interviewees. 🙂

Hi everyone, I'm new to the thread. I have an interview at Netter tomorrow and I'm super excited! I'm a little worried that the weather may cause the school to close again tomorrow, but I'll keep my fingers crossed and hope everything goes as planned. I will give you all some feedback once I'm all done!

I'm back! Good news…similar to another post, I agree that the interview day at Netter is pretty relaxing. We each had two interviews and met with the Associate Dean for Admissions, the Admission Committee Chair, and a couple of other faculty members. Everyone was really nice and the students were very informative. The facilities look great and they are in the process of expansion--there will be a gym right on campus in the Fall!… they said we will probably receive a decision in about 5 weeks.

Congrats and thanks for the updates! Was there any word during the interview day how full the class is/how late they will interview/many more IIs going out... essentially any information for those of us still hoping for an invite? Thanks!

They said class is "definitely not" full yet (but didn't give an exact number). They did say, however, that class size will be 60 again and that they are still interviewing. They have been processing things a little slower than usual because they received more apps this year than anticipated.

Accepted!!! got the email an hour ago.

PS..long time lurker but just created an account so I can post this!

Not sure yet. I am waiting on 2 more schools. But good luck, I got my reply in 6 weeks so hopefully this holds true for you too

Hi everyone!
I was confirmed on 9/8/13, received an II on 3/16/14, and interviewing on 2/28/14.
for anyone who has interviewed, any feedback on what the interview process was like? I have heard that there are two 45-min long interviews with different people...I would love to hear from people who have interviewed already about their experiences talking for so long with professionals and maybe what they asked you? also, did they have your file at hand and ask specific questions from your application?

Those that interviewed me, new everything about me. They did the good cop, bad cop thing but I enjoyed it. It's fairly relaxed and they really just talk to you. It seems like they have everything they want on you already and now they just want to see how you are as a human being. It flows well and my interviews took the entirety even though i thought there was no way i could speak for so long. Don't sweat it, seriously. They are super nice and welcoming!

That's really good to know! Thanks so much for you input!

OOS, 30 MCAT, undergrad GPA 3.2/grad GPA 3.85, with a good amount of clinical experience. Definitely thought I was going to get a rejection so I'm super excited that I got an invite!

Wow, congrats! That give me some hope that interviews remain for early/lower-stat people like me! 😛

Thanks! Haha, I know, best of luck to you! If you get an II this week, hopefully I'll see you or some fellow SDNers next week!

Apart from uploading a document to the portal, is there any e-mail confirmation to verify that the update was received?

No. There is no confirmation, unfortunately (at least for none of the three things I sent them)!
That is a little unfortunate, I keep hoping to hear something from them to know my efforts are not in vain. Though I am at least a little bit hopeful because they did send out that e-mail in January asking for updates.

I had two non-MD interviewers (one OT and one PT). They were very nice (but the PT asked me potentially controversial questions and probed me a little bit), but overall it was just like any other interview. I gave controversial answers, but backed them with my reasoning so I think that worked out well. They didn't seem to know anything about my application, so it's a clean slate and you can direct the conversation where you want

Btw good job on getting the first interview invite post-interview ever in the history of medical school applications 😉
Lol I saw the mixed up dates too and wanted to say something... But then figured someone would... Eventually.

Rejected post interview 🙁... Oh well, no time to cry over split milk... getting ready for next app cycle... Fall 2015 here I come! 🙂
Congrats to everyone accepted and best of luck to those still in the running! Dis **** ain't easy.

Awww. Best of luck to you in the next cycle. I had to re-app myself. It's not fun, but it's not impossible to get in next time 'round.

Hi everyone! I just had my interview today and it was a really positive experience. I had one administrator and one doctor. the doctor probed me a little with challenging questions but the administrator just asked the basics. I really loved the school! they said they will get back with a final answer in 5-6 weeks.
