2013-2014 Frank H. Netter MD School of Medicine at Quinnipiac University

Since the interview is open file do your interviewers have your entire application including letters of recommendation, gpa, and mcat?
Yes, they know everything about you and will even ask you about specifics you had on your application/essay. So know what you wrote on your application/essay if you write it a while ago

I had two non-MD interviewers (one OT and one PT). They were very nice (but the PT asked me potentially controversial questions and probed me a little bit), but overall it was just like any other interview. I gave controversial answers, but backed them with my reasoning so I think that worked out well. They didn't seem to know anything about my application, so it's a clean slate and you can direct the conversation where you want

Btw good job on getting the first interview invite post-interview ever in the history of medical school applications 😉
lol..oops. clearly messed up my dates

This is one of the 2 schools I'm still waiting on 🙁

Does anyone know whether rejections happen by email or snail mail?

and they send the acceptances/rejections via email. My friend got it exactly a month from his interview date.

What time does the interview day typically end? I know they say plan to be there for 6 hours - is that actually the case? My flight is out of LGA, and I'm wondering if I should plan to cab it...

I'm really excited for this interview!!

Mine ended exactly at 5pm

I actually left Quinnipiac at 5:22pm. I would leave some time for the tour to run longer and to stay after and personally thank some of the administrators.

When I called last month they said that interview invites would be going out until mid march and then those who didn't get an ii would get their final notification at the end of March.
Ok, thanks!

All quiet on the western front here since secondary in october...

For those who haven't gotten the memo: the class size got increased from 60 to 90. Good news for those still in the running! 🙂

Wow, just got the email! Wonder if this means that they're going to be slightly more liberal with the recent interviewees, or if they're just going to invite more people to interview.

hmm, haven't received an email today, that's odd...but I do remember hearing that the class is increasing this year (I think it is supposed to increase over the next few years until they get to 120ish? I could be wrong)

Got the email this morning and almost had a heart attack thinking it was a final decision email. I guess this means that we all have a better shot at acceptance, though, so it's still a good news email!

Yep, to 125 eventually. Still, an increase to 90 in only the second year is fast, meaning that the LCME must be pretty confident in the administration, the faculty, and the school in general.

Page 5 of this AAMC document on new med schools is very interesting. According to that table, Netter (90) is second only to Central Michigan (100) in terms of second class size. Even more interesting, Netter will have the largest (125) third class size out of all the new med schools, pending LCME approval. This makes me even more confident that the administration knows what it's doing.

I would be surprised if the administration had not been operating under the assumption that this would happen. I doubt this was a surprise to them. They were probably basing their admissions off of the assumption that the class size would increase. Or am I totally worng?

yeah, i'm sort of confused as to why this was "news"...maybe they just got officially approved? i also still have not received the email so i'm not sure if i should be concerned...

On my interview day, they said that they "may be" increasing the class to 90, which to me sounded either like uncertainty or hedging their bets.

In any case, it would be irresponsible of them to assume that the expansion would be approved, even if there was a 1% possibility that it wouldn't. That would possibly mean rescinding acceptances or abruptly cutting off interviews, if the class expansion was denied.

I didn't get it either haha

Hopefully the increase to 90 gives all of us a better shot ! =)

For those of you still interviewing, I just wanted to share how my interview day went:
Everyone there is superrrrr friendly. The day started at 11 and ended just before 5 for me. There are 2 45 minute interviews back-to-back (maybe a 15 minute break in between if you end on time/early) after the introductions, school/financial aid presentations, and lunch with the students. My two interviews were pretty different -- the first one was very laidback and conversational, and my second one was based off a structured series of questions that were more scenario-based than based on my application. I would recommend looking at some of the questions on the SDN interview feedback, because some of the other interviewees in my group said they had some unusual questions that they saw on there. I was also told that the turnaround time on hearing back from the interview is 5-7 weeks.

All in all, it was a very positive experience! The school is great, the faculty is super nice, and the student are so friendly! Best of luck to everyone 🙂

Hmmm...I didn't get an email about this. Does that mean I've been silently rejected?

Echoing others, I don't think this would be the case. Did they know it was a possibility? I'm sure. I doubt they assumed it, though, because overaccepting could have been a disaster scenario.

Or it would just mean less waitlist movement if they didn't get it...

Maybe others can chime in.. was the email only sent to those accepted or those who interviewed at Netter already? I got it, but I was accepted.

I got the email and have not been accepted/waitlisted/rejected, but I interviewed on 2/28. Also, I believe it was the Associate Dean of Admissions or perhaps the Director of Admissions that mentioned the potential of the class size increasing, pending the decision from the LCME, so I don't believe they knew until very recently that they would have a class of 90 rather than 60.

I got the email and have not received a decision but did attend an interview.

Also, on my interview day someone (a current student, I think?) mentioned that they will only allow as many people to hold acceptances here as there are spots available in the class. So an increase in class size would definitely mean more acceptances in the next month and a half!

I also got the e-mail, no decision yet, but also attended an interview.

So there is some evidence to support the hypothesis that unlike the Dear Mr. Firstname Lastname email, this one only went out to those who interviewed. And so far no evidence to refute it.

Plus accepted and waitlisted

True. I figured "interviewed" was a catch-all, since to be accepted or waitlisted, you had to be interviewed.

Maybe the e-mail only went out to those that interviewed since they told us at the interviews they anticipate the class size will only be 60? It's possibly just an update from them so we're not misinformed.

Just called Netter, something I've never done with any school. Ms. Taylor told me they are interviewing till the end of the month, and, naturally, asked that I remain"patient."

Second time calling netter. They said march 31 the interviews will be done. Waitlist people will hear from them april 15 or may 15.

What was the quickest II date to the actual Interview date people have had?... 2 weeks? If they are only interviewing until March 31st then I am suspecting II's are pretty much done and over

I e-mailed them this morning and I was told that they still plan to issue a few more II's later this week and possibly early next week.

I got the II a week before the earliest date for an interview, so don't give up just yet!

Just to add on -- I had an II that I received on a Monday and the next open date was the Friday of the same week. Don't lose hope!
