2013-2014 George Washington University Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Do they send out post-interview decisions only on Tuesday?

For those of you who got waitlisted and/or accepted, did you send in a letter of continued interest AFTER your interview?

Does the adcom only offer acceptances via phone, or do they email you, too? I had to change my phone number recently, and updated the new number via AMCAS, but fear that they will try calling my old number and not even get through to me! I know, I'm paranoid :nailbiting::nailbiting:
It seems a little excessive to send updates to schools with a mere phone number....

My acceptance was via email only. I have had 0 phone correspondence with GW other than to call them on the morning of my interview to tell them I was going to be late because of traffic haha. Damn you and your traffic DC!

Alternate list today :/
Interviewed Feb 11th and sent an update letter/LOI last night.
3.85/35

Still waiting on II after hold. Sent in LOI. Professed my Love. Nothing. Time to give up? Ugh

Good to know, thank you and congrats! This school is pretty much my only shot at a med school acceptance this cycle...I don't wanna mess it up! :scared::xf:

Can anyone speak for how much wait list movement typically happens at GW?
I know it varies from year to year-- but can any existing students possibly comment on what % of each class typically comes from the WL?

Just got an II from GW a few minutes ago... Couldn't believe it.. Especially so late in the season.
Omg, congrats! Would you mind sharing some info--like complete date and when you scheduled it for? Are you nearby the DC area? That's awesome!!

Thanks! I was complete October 27th and my interview is scheduled for March 28th. I am about an hour outside of DC so it's pretty easy for me to get there on short notice.

Accepted!!! Yaay. Interviewed January 30th. I will be moving from Seattle. Anyone know where a good place to live with a family in Virginia closer to the train station?

Alexandria/Arlington are very good places to live, though overly expensive. Most areas surrounding DC are very expensive. But if you want to stay close to DC in a suburb, I would suggest those two places.

Congratulations! How very exciting. Can I ask when you were notified that you were accepted? I'm trying to figure out where GW is in terms of offering acceptances, related to interview dates.

I live in DC. GW is at Foggy Bottom Metro station, on the Orange AND Blue lines of the metro. If you plan to metro in from Virginia you might wanna consider living in walking distance to those metro lines, though clearly that increases your rent, as you get closer to the metro. 🙂

Honestly I don't remember but I believe it was sometime in February.

did anyone here interview today? i saw a large group at gw that looked like interviewees. how did it go?

Out of curiosity, did anyone who was recently accepted interview in February?

As an alternate, I'm wondering whether they even had a seat available for me or if my interview just didn't cut it.

Interviewed 2/20, just alternate listed today by email (really surprised, not so great stats). Anyone know how big the alternate list is? How many students typically come off per cycle? Is there also an accepted pending seats list in front of me?

I read the FAQs section on their website but was wondering if I could get the DL here, lol. Thanks for any info.

Has anyone on the alternate list been accepted so far? Can we alternates expect to hear back in April? Or wait till May 15th and beyond?
I'm wondering how big the wailist is and what percentage of the class come off the waitlist

Hi 🙂 I'm new on here. Interviewed in March and was wondering the same thing!

Also, for the March interviewers, it should take them less than 8-10 weeks to get back to us right?
Can anyone who was already accepted shed some light on this? Thanks!!

Still no news here after being placed on hold in mid-August
>3.9, 30
published clinical research, lots of clinical stuff
re-applicant (but not to this school)

has anybody that interviewed on 2/25 heard with acceptances/wait list?

Just received an email (3:15) placing me in the alternate pool. Double dang. Interviewed 2/20.

Good luck everyone.

Withdrew my acceptance.

I hope that it can go to one of you beautiful people on here 🙂

Good luck everyone!

Does anyone know how often the admissions committee at GW meets and if these meetings only include admissions people or also the interviewers

Is anyone else still on a pre-interview hold? Should I maintain hope or just figure it's a rejection at this point? 😛

I'm on pre-interview hold. I posted some posts above with details...I thought I saw on last years thread that those still on hold at some point got an email asking if they were interested and why. Wondering if they will send that email this time.

I interviewed at GW last Thursday and someone asked when they would be done with interviews. The interview coordinator said they hadn't decided on a final date yet and were still going to conduct some interviews, so don't lose hope yet! (I was on pre-interview hold for months and finally got an II after 2 updates).

Great, thanks! 🙂

Placed on the alternate list today. Interviewed 2/28. The email was slightly optimistic:

"Moreover, many alternates are ultimately offered acceptance to this program."
