2013-2014 New York University (NYU) Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
possibly background check?? Not sure. Good luck to you!

I thought that my MMI at NYU went well but if I get waitlisted or rejected this week, I am going to start worrying about my other MMIs.
NYU was my only MMI, but I can totally understand what you're saying.
Don't worry though, guys. We're all getting good news in the next 48 hours.

just thought i would mention that last year NYU released a statement saying that decisions would be released by march 1st, and they were released on march 1st.maybe decisions will come out on jan 31 this year. so everyone can relax for now (easier said than done, i know 😛).

The question is if acceptances came out on march 1!

if I remember properly, it was just rejections and waitlists.
blahhhh this sucks. I'm comforting myself by the fact that I know 2 other people who interviewed there from my high school and 2 other people from my university and based on probability at least one of us should get an acceptance and since none of did....it means that more acceptance should be coming out. i know. twisted logic. but it helps.

This is sound logic.
Additionally, look at all the SDN'ers that didn't get an acceptance yet!
Bieber pic or not, I know that good news is coming.

I hope that you are right.

If nyu seriously waits until the last day of notification to tell applicants that they are waitlisted/rejection, then that is the saddest thing ever. I so desperately want to believe that this wouldn't be the case, but I think i realistically think that most/all acceptance offers are out at this point. Just lack of reporting

I think it's unlikely anymore "outright" acceptances will be released. However, this does not paint as grim a picture as it seems, as there seems to be significant movement on NYU's waitlist.

Good luck everyone!

Do update letters have to be uploaded under the Documents section of the application website, or are these emailed?

So, it seems that the waitlist is unranked. What does one do now?

Waitlisted here as well. Interviewed 10/31.

Waitlist... Are they for real? Save this for thel ast day?

Rejected 🙁

Congrats to those who were waitlisted, and to those who were accepted already

Waitlisted. Interviewed 2nd week November.

Any idea as to how much waitlist movement NYU typically has? (Sorry if I'm beating a dead horse here or about to kill a horse to be beaten repeatedly)

Waitlisted. Interviewed late October. Ah well. It was a bad fit to begin with. Congrats to the acceptances.

I think in the end about 1 out of every 2 people who interviewed eventually gets an acceptance.
Is that of people who show initiative? or just generally? Also I had a more general question about updates? I haven't really been doing anything new senior year so should I not send an update/ just send a letter of interest ? I've done a few additional things for the clubs I'm already in etc. but nothing major. Also when would be a good time for people send stuff in because we don't want it to be too soon right ?

Waitlisted. Interviewed in October. The waitlist must be ranked. I'm sure they just don't tell us about our position on it.

I would guess that showing initiative and demonstrating you really want to go there will help you get off the waitlist. Here's the USNews stats from an earlier post in the thread.

Applied: 8351
Interviewed: 968
Accepted: 488
Enrolled: 158

Waitlisted. But I have JHU to accept me today!
I dont hear from JHU till end of march. JDAHSDKJSAHDSKAHDKJHDSKJSAHDJSHADK. SO LONG. but after being waitlisted at yu i am convinced jhu would never want me .

Waitlisted! I'll take it!!

Interviewed mid-December. Secondary sent mid-November (spent a lot of time on it).

Congrats and good luck to everyone! See you in April...
