How long did it take people to get LORs accepted by UI?

Received at AMCAS: 8/7
Imported from AMCAS: 8/12
But still blank for Accepted by CCOM

My secondary app/questions was completed 8/8

have any of you guys been marked as "complete"? i submitted my app a week ago (8/12) and also paid the fee a week ago, but it still says i'm incomplete. i know there's 2 optional sections (academic record update and additional info) that i didn't do so is that the reason i'm marked as incomplete? it's kind of making me nervous. for those sections it says "none received" am i supposed to hit submit on the blank page for each of those sections or what?

they've also had my letters since 8/7 but haven't been labeled as "accepted by CCOM"

Right there with you.

First off congrats to you and all the others with interviews!!! Make sure you check out the interview feedback page for Iowa because their interviews are a little bit different... And enjoy the interview day - it was one of my favorites for sure.

Wow, didn't know those existed. Thank you!

any updates on your guys' completion status? i finished my app 8/12 and still incomplete

Interview Invite!
Secondary received: 8/2
Submitted: 8/12
Invite: 8/22

OOS, no ties

How do you know the completion date doesn't mean much? If you don't mind my asking..

LizzyM (adcom) quote from a recent thread:

Until the school sends you a rejection letter or stops sending interview invites, you are still in the running. I've been doing this for >10 years and I'm still not exactly sure how they choose which applications to send to me and when. I slog through and sometimes it is not in the order that they were received OR best first but more or less randomly or alphabetically, or idiosyncratically.

Being "passed over" does not mean anything. You are in the running until you receive a rejection letter.

Congrats to those who have received interviews! We look forward to meeting you all soon 🙂

For those who would like to more regarding the interview day, make sure to check the interview feedback page my classmate markyb03 mentioned. If you have any other questions I will do my best to a answer them, as I am sure markyb03 will do as well.

For those concerned about their status, rest assured that you all will be reviewed and marked complete soon. Admissions has been busy with us 🙂. This last week was orientation.

Does anyone know how strict Iowa is on the Committee Letter?

The secondary e-mail I received stressed the importance of applying early...I have all my letters but my committee doesn't meet until school starts 😡 so they probably won't have my letter until at least the end of Sept.

II!!! OOS, Complete 8/20! 100% thrilled! Congrats everyone!

Side note: What are your impressions of the case based learning session mentioned in the interview email?

Haha I just went back and read the email. It would be nice to know what to expect if we're going to be evaluated through it.

Definitely don't stress about this guys. It is actually really pretty enjoyable and a nice break from the regular stress of an interview day. The session is usually run by a medical student ( mine was a fourth year) and they just make sure everyone gets along and it runs smooth. He actually told us as long as everyone talks and inputs just a little bit then we would all get full marks.

As far as information you need, if you've ever seen an episode of house or scrubs that's about the level you need 🙂

Congrats to all the new interview invitees!!! Hope to see you guys around campus pretty soon.

II! Will be there early October 🙂 OOS, no ties

I've got to say, I've been very impressed by everyone I've heard from and everything I've read about Carver, it seems like an amazing school with amazing people. Really excited to get to see the school and Iowa City

so my letters and all that have been accepted but I'm still not complete. is there something else that I'm supposed to do, or does someone on their side have to mark me complete manually?

Nothing you can do, just wait. Took me a while to be marked as complete

Is there a separate complete status I'm missing? I just have "complete" indications for Final Application and Supplemental Questions and my letters were accepted by CCOM today, but no specific indication that my application is in fact complete.

Hi Y'all,

I am also an M1 student at University of Iowa. Congrats on the interview invites so far. Those applying to Iowa should know that this medical school is quite the "hidden gem." It is a darn good medical school that does not get too many applicants [probably since it is in the Midwest, and name recognition isn't as strong].

Some great traits of Iowa Med:

1. The orthopedics and ophthalmology program are nationally ranked. So as a Med student, you have invaluable access to these programs - in shadowing, research opportunities, rotations, etc.

2. Very supportive staff. The staff really wants their medical students to achieve here. There are free tutor programs offered thru the school. Plus there is a special library to check out textbooks and board review books for the semester.

3. Communities for the medical students. Each medical student gets assigned to a community which has their own hangers, fridge, furniture, rooms, computers, small library, etc. It is open 24/7.

4. Distinction tracks that let students pursue their interest [research, global health, teaching, humanities]

And of course many more.

Best of Luck on your application and II. :luck:

Hey folks with an II, what are the dates for Iowa like? All Mondays/Tuesdays? Were there Friday/Saturday dates available?

I think interviews are offered on all weekdays, or maybe just Monday/Wednesday/Friday...I can't remember for sure. But there aren't any Saturday dates.

Interview Invite!! I'm not sure if I'm IS or OOS since I had to "apply" for re-classification but in any case... :biglove:

Interview invite. No email, just had the interview tab pop up.

Edit: and status still marked as complete so no change in that

I got so excited hearing this and checked if I could be so lucky.. No dice, but congrats!!! Virtual high five ; )

Gahh, there are no cheap and easy flights to Cedar Rapids. Does anyone how hard it is to get from the airport at Moline to Iowa City?

From Moline (quad cities) it's only an hour. And it's a straight shot on I-80.

If you are talking Des Moines it's more like 1.75 hours, but same straight on I-80.

Thanks! Though unfortunately I won't have a car. I heard from someone that there was a shuttle from quad cities to Iowa City. Anyone have experience with how reliable or available it is? =)

Sorry for going missing everyone. We had our first test this week!

Try looking into Allegiant Air. They are a smaller airliner and have specific cities/days they fly out of. If you can find a flight that works for you can fly into Cedar Rapids for cheap. I plan on flying home during thanksgiving break with them. Their flights to Sanford, FL (essentially Orlando) is around $150 round trip. Pretty great of you ask me.

AHHH!!! II this morning! Complete 9/10. So happy! I toured the campus for undergrad and absolutely loved it. Can't wait! Scheduled for 10/18, so grateful they have Friday interviews.

:soexcited: :soexcited:

Interview invite today, complete early september, no email. Check the application status page if you're waiting.

Any IS applicants out there that have received II yet?
