Accepted! 😀 OOS, interviewed last week of September. I got an email telling me to check the status page, and there was a welcome video from the dean welcoming us to the class of 2018 🙂
 
Accepted via email this morning. Snail mail to come. 3.9 34 IS. interviewed Oct 2.

Yeah I think they appear to send out rolling acceptances about 3 weeks to a month after interviews, looking at trends from previous year. Pulling for you Mondo!

Can't wait to see all y'all at second look weekend/next year!

Are the acceptances out on Thursdays only, then? I thought it looked like they came out on Tuesdays from last year's thread. Oh god! I loved this school. :scared: Thanks for the kind words. Congrats and hope to see you there next year!
 
Yep they did Tuesdays last year, so I was really surprised to hear today. Maybe the ADCOM is meeting on a different day of the week this year? Who knows?
 
I interviewed 9/23 but didn't hear anything. I'm assuming either: a) my interviewers didn't make it today or b) I'm being deferred?
 
Hi everyone! I am preparing to make travel arrangements for my interview here, but I have a question. I'm OOS, so what is a good way to get there?

If you're flying in from Cedar Rapids Airport, take the Cedar Rapids Airport Shuttle (~$70 round trip). I couldn't find any other shuttle company. They dropped me off/picked me up on time.
 
Just got a letter in the mail saying that I was selected to receive a $16,000 per year merit scholarship! I'm so excited, I loved Iowa when I was there for interview 🙂

Unfortunately, nope. 10/18 interviewee here. Loved this school so much. I'm hoping they start giving us feedback in like 2 weeks or so?! A month is decent turnaround time, right? Jeez, this wait is KILLER. Way worse than the secondary-->II wait.

Oct.14 here, hoping to get good news soon as well. I really enjoyed the school and area

Same. My boyfriend and I hit up Short's burger joint on campus and that was, I'd have to say, the best burger I've ever had. Reason enough to attend a school?? :hungry:

I interviewed 9/23 or something like that. I'm running out of stupid things to do to occupy my mind and time

Looks like they did an in-state review today. 10/18 OOS interviewee. I feel sick to my stomachhh with this waittt.

Looks like they did review oos I spoke too soon!! Haven't passed my 10/18 date but they're flirting with it. Augh. So nervous. I loved this school.

I didn't student host, I stayed at that discount place for $55 a night. I didn't see student hosting as an option on that list, and I know a bunch of the people in my interview group were at a hotel as well.

I stayed with a host -- can't recall how I arranged it, but it's definitely an option 👍

If you go the interview tab on the secondary app website, and scroll down a bit there will be an "Accommodations" list, and the last item on it is the student HOST program info. They require a two weeks notice, though. Hope this helps! And good luck at your interview! 🙂
 
Every notification I see from this thread gets my heart racing. I assume it's an acceptance past my interview date. I think I'm going nuts.

I got all the stuff listed in 2012/2011, etc. "Why medicine?" "How do you handle stress?" Those were 2/4 structured. I can't friggin' remember the other 2, I'm sorry. But they were on that list. I also got "What would you do with a noncompliant patient?" "Tell us about your volunteer/shadowing experiences." "What field of medicine are you interested in?" "Do you have any questions for us?" "How would you address increasing health care costs in America?" And then we talked about Big 10 sports for a little bit.

Thanks I see it now. Its all a matter of booking a flight now. Any word on if that 6-7 hour day is true, as in does the interview day conclude at 5:00 and I should plan my return flight accordingly or is that kind of a rough estimate? Any insight would be appreciated, I'm trying to save as much money as I possibly can.
