Can anyone else not see Miami as an option to pick in the list of medical schools? It's disappeared on me even though I haven't already selected it.

Its not listed as University of Miami, but rather "The University of Miami".
Search under T instead of U
 
Just got an email informing me that they've received my amcas application and that they are currently deciding to send me a secondary.
 
Does miami waive off all secondary fees for fap qualifier?
 
Has anybody gotten this secondary yet? Dang how serious is this screen? lol
 
I haven't gotten a secondary yet. This screen is probably pretty in-depth.
 
Before we all start freaking out, the people that got it first day did you guys have your submitted day June 10? I submitted June 12

wait, some people have received the secondary already?
 
Just to verify, the Medical School Admissions Reply Card is not the secondary itself, right? They ask you what factors led you to apply to Miami and I just wanted to make sure this wasn't THE essay. The reply card is just the entree into the secondary?

Can you explain what you're talking about? I don't remember seeing a reply card...
 
"If your mother or father received their MD degree from the University of Miami, or if your mother or father is a full-time regular faculty member at the Miller School of Medicine, go to the web site below and fill out and submit an acknowledgement card. If your parents do not meet either of these criteria, do not fill out the card. All applications will be processed in the order in which they are received, regardless of whether you complete and return the card or not. All information submitted is subject to verification."

This is from the original email sent after they receive the verified application. The card is only if your parents received their MD's or are regular faculty at Miami
 
Can someone post the prompts from this year? I am considering to submit here, but will probably skip if the secondary is anything like last year's monstrosity.
 
so is the secondary about what factor led you to apply to miami miller?

Just saw this and wanted to post a reply in case some people are still worried about getting screened. The online version of the MSAR has an "Application Deadlines and Requirements" section for every school. This section includes the question "Who is sent a secondary application?" U Miami's response is "All U.S. citizens and permanent residents."

If there is a screen, it is not too stringent by the sound of it. In other words - don't worry! The secondary will probably come soon 🙂

says the instructions to complete the secondary are attached but my email doesn't have any attachments....

Major, major spelling error in the title of this "Secondary Applicantion" ... not impressed so far!
 
i received the secondary but the attachment i downloaded just a folder of .xml files and it just shows web code when i open them. anyone else having this issue?
 
still no secondary yet.. verified 6/28; OOS 3.6/34

I talked about this in my PS... so do they not want me to talk about it again? or they want me to reword it...? i can't have more than one MOST significant experience...
 
Can't really respond to the "Why Miller" question due to there not being an admissions brochure of any sort...guess this secondary will just have to sit on the back burner

So for the first question (most significant clinical experience), would it be a bad idea to discuss an interaction from high school?

I know this is frowned upon in terms of listing activities in AMCAS and writing the personal statement, but the truth is that the most significant experience I had occurred towards the end of high school. Further experiences in college only confirmed and strengthened my desire to pursue medicine... Thanks!

so i was going to write about playing guitar for #8 but that's also a hobby of mine? do hobbies not count as fine arts or sports? i would call a recreational sport such as in #9 as a hobby as well.
 
So do you guys think Miami reads your primary app at all? what's the purpose for asking for the EXACT same info on the secondary?

did you take biochem lab? I called and they were saying how all that behavioral science and biochem LAB and lecture were required before matriculation. ............... she said no subsitutions either. I m having a hard time believing her b.c she seems like she doesnt know what shes saying.
