Haha finally SDN reduces stress instead of causing itI am oddly comforted.
Does the committee automatically give scholarships if you qualify for it based on merit, need, diversity, etc? In other words, you don't have to apply for it right?
Yea I interviewed on 10/18 as well and have yet to hear from them. my status has not changed from "being reviewed". the dean definitely told us we would know by 5 on 11/20... not sure what to make of it or if checking with admissions would be frowned uponI interviewed on Oct 18 and remember being told that if we were accepted we would hear back Nov. 20 at 5pm.

That's good to know, thanks!I interviewed the second week of October and am in the same situation.
I emailed admissions and they said I would be reviewed at the meeting in December.
The next date acceptances will be sent out is Dec. 11th around 5pm. I believe you will have to wait until then to hear from them so don't freak out even if you do not hear back by next Wednesday. 🙂So confused. I've had the "Decision has been made" status since Wednesday, but no phone call and no email. What does it mean???
I'm half terrified I'll come home to a nasty rejection letter. I guess I'll just have to endure this mounting anxiety until next Wednesday, being that it'll have been 7 days, and call them up.
Whether they got to you or not probably has to do with how fast your interviewer was able to write up his/her report and attend one of the committee meetings. One of the schools I'm waiting on is taking forever and there's been people who've interviewed a month after me who have received a decision. It's all up to how fast the interviewer wants to do it.Hmm it's interesting that they didn't get to some. I'm trying to figure out what it means if they got to me, but I was wait listed. Like do I actually have a chance? This process is so mystifying. Smh.

Well, I interviewed October 4th. My status has been this since decisions went out Wednesday last week (possibly earlier but I was too anxious to check it constantly until my resolve broke):
"A final decision has been reached by the Admissions Committee at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine on your application. Contact the admissions ofice if you do not receive a telephone call, an e-mail or a letter within seven days."
I think I'm the only one who hasn't heard anything that's had that status on Nov 20th. Also just realized they typo'd "ofice". Anyway, any of you folks that got in last week receive your letter in the mail yet?
Got my letter today. Rejected.
Interviewed OCT 4th.
Looking back to last year's thread, I believe I'm the only person to get a rejection letter and not be "wait listed" post-interview. Crazy. Painful. I must have a serious personality problem. Time to reflect on what I'm doing here.

How selective are they when inviting for a secondary app?
They're not; I'm pretty sure their only screen is making sure you're a US citizen. How selective are they when inviting for a secondary app?
Actually I think they are selective. Not sure how selective thoThey're not; I'm pretty sure their only screen is making sure you're a US citizen.
From their website: "Most US citizens and permanent residents of the US will be invited to complete a Supplemental (Secondary) Application." Must not be a very stringent screen if most are invited.Actually I think they are selective. Not sure how selective tho
Hope this helps! How selective are they when inviting for a secondary app?

Same here, although I'm MD/PhD:I still have:
"Your Application is currently under review by the Admissions Committee at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine."
Have had this status since August.
FINALLY a status change!
"Your Application has been reviewed by the Admissions Committee at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. Applicants will be invited to interview based upon their point total from the Admissions Committee review. Applicants who have been reviewed and scored by the Admissions Committee may be notified that they have been selected for an interview between September and April."
Have there been any noticeable patterns after this status pops up? *hoping for an ii*!!
I had that status update last night, and when I checked my status again this morning (i know, i know), it changed to "congratulations, you have been selected to interview...". I still haven't received the actual email invite though but I called them and scheduled it haha. So I would say, check it constantly. 🙂
+1!SO EXCITING!! Congrats to you! This gave me a tiny bit of hope 🙂 I have been complete since July, so any type of progress is, in my opinion, positive.
I had this status change a few days ago but haven't heard anything or had any other changes since.FINALLY a status change!

When'd you interview if you don't mind me askingI finally got a "final decision made" status. Gotta wait another week to see what that decision is....
early NovemberWhen'd you interview if you don't mind me asking
You contact them to ask about why they rejected you/advice for potentially reapplying??
Biochemist, it is such a great outlook. I hope you get good news from somewhere, the best of luck to you!Sent in an email a couple days ago. I'll follow up with a phone call if they don't reply.
Anyway, thanks for the positivity. Felt pretty bad for a couple days, but ultimately this rejection has been a long needed wake up call. I realized I'd been paralyzed with anxiety waiting to hear good news from any med school. Time to get back to living life and stop worrying about things now out of my hands.
Does anyone know if Miami responds to in the area calls/emails? I'm from NY and have interviews at USF and FAU in the same week in January. I was really hoping I would be able to interview at Miami at the same time. It would save me another expensive trip to Florida.

If you have already emailed the interviewer, I would say the time for a handwritten note has passed. Just my $0.02.
As for the chocolates, I recommend you send them to the below address:

Dark, please.
I am a grad student at NYMC, MS-0 for UMiami though 🙂 Accepted on 10/23!
Can't see why anyone would choose u miami these days as it has major financial problems right now due to an overpayment for a hospital and mismanagement of staff..There is very little keeping me from moving to Miami 🙂
^-- lol there's more effective ways to get off the alternate list at U Miami than trying to persuade SDNers from attending the school. Can't see why anyone would choose u miami these days as it has major financial problems right now due to an overpayment for a hospital and mismanagement of staff..
