I am in the same position as well, submitted/complete in late August and been under review for months. not really sure what to think at this point.

Maybe a call or e-mail to admissions inquiring about our status may help get our applications actually under review?

I just read the initial post incorrectly/ I'm losing my mind-- I submitted back in Aug but I'm not stuck at the "under review" status; rather, I've had the " we evaluated you already, you freaking suck, bye bye" status for months haha.

Actual status reads:
Your Application has been reviewed by the Admissions Committee at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. Applicants will be invited to interview based upon their point total from the Admissions Committee review. Applicants who have been reviewed and scored by the Admissions Committee may be notified that they have been selected for an interview between September and April.

I think if you get that status, you are likely to get an II. I believe I had that status for about a month before receiving the actual II.

I've had this status for quite a few months, actually. I hope you're right, though 🙂

Same here, but I submitted mine in early November. I check the page every single day nevertheless, hoping the status might change. No luck yet!

Will the status not change from Under Review until the person receives a rejection in May?

FYI- my friend has called twice and no one has given him/her a straight answer.

Your status will change from 'under review' to one that says something along the lines of 'reviewed and ranked' and then, finally, an interview status if you are invited to interview. I don't know what the rejection status will say/ if there is one. I guess we'll find out eventually one way or another.
 
Does anyone know what this status means?

"Your application has been reviewed by the Admissions Committee at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. At this time, a final decision has not been reached on your application."

I have not been interviewed.
 
For those who have interviewed--what's the interview format? Does anyone know if they ask any questions in Spanish if you put that you became proficient in undergrad on your app? Anything else about the interview/interview day that's good to know? Thanks!
 
That's good to hear! I have yet to find an SDNer describing a (non-MMI) interview that is not chill. Then again I've only been following a dozen threads or so.

Also, I'm not sure if this is the case for everyone, but my interviewer was the one who had reviewed my primary/secondary and decided that I should get an interview. In other words, there's a good chance that your interviewer already likes you, even before the interview starts. Super chill!
 
8 days! I'm sooo excited! Also, to answer your question, I believe everyone is interviewed by the person who liked their primary/secondary... which means you can just be yourself and answer the questions honestly! They just want to get to know you and see if you really meant what you said in your file. I had a few specific questions about my app and a lot of ethical/scenerio questions.

Anyone know where I can find information for housing options for students attending Miller?
 
does anyone know if scholarship awards will be given on the same day as acceptances?

mI don't think that they are. I have a friend who was accepted back in October and she got her scholarship offer in November or December.

Quick question.

Does anybody know if a "final decision made" status could also mean you've been wait listed? Or does "final" mean they've decided whether to accept or reject you?

I think it can mean all of them

This is accurate - at the ADCOM meeting they will decide if accepting, no action, waitlist. For now, Final decision just means "scored."
 
I searched earlier in this thread and on Miami's website but found nothing.
I'm trying to plan some travel for this semester; does anyone know when second look is? I saw that in a previous year it was the second week of April.
 
Interview invite today OOS, but will be withdrawing my app. Good luck everyone!

I've had the same status since September as some others in this thread - "Your application to the UM Miller School of Medicine is complete and currently being reviewed by the Admissions Committee." I am IS public school GPA ~3.9 MCAT >35. Just wondering if this is normal for Miami. If anyone has knowledge from previous cycles...

For what it's worth, I interviewed at Miami back in October. I received my invitation about a week after I submitted my secondary (I'm not saying this to brag, just to hopefully give some insight in this random process). My stats are well below Methodical's and I'm OOS.
When they gave us the spiel on how they select interviewees they said that at least three people from the committee must give you the thumbs up and one of those people will be your interviewer. A good chunk of my interview was spent talking about some of my hobbies which the interviewer shared.

So, my point in saying all of that is that I think stats are important up to a point. The rest of it falls on who you are which, pre-interview, can only come from the secondary prompts. I think (pure speculation) one of the biggest things that led to my interview was the fact that I answered in detail all but one of the optional prompts (I skipped the one on fine arts as I can barely write my name). I don't know if anyone still on hold did or did not answer the optional prompts, but maybe that will shed some light on the process.

Ethical and scenario questions? Really? I thought that was more of an mmi thing and that traditional interviews tend to focus on the application. Looks like it depends on the interviewer!

Yeah, he asked me questions like "Why do you think STDs are still so prominent in our society?" I gave him an answer then he asked me "Let's role play- if you were the president, how would you reduce it?"

"What do you think if the US adopted a healthcare policy like that of the UK or Canada?"
"What affect will ACA have on future physicians?"
"How do you feel about the ACA?"
"What would you do if a patient has no insurance?"

Among others.. but he was really nice. My advice would be to think before you speak, be confident in your answer.. try to explain and support your responses.

Edit: Also got asked the typical- strengths, weaknesses, why UM, etc. Also had a lot of ?s regarding my app.. what did you mean when you said "..."
