II as well...dam people pull the trigger quickly.

Was contemplating the one October date and went to call someone to talk about it and by the time I came back it was gone!

Congrats to everyone else that got the II's though! and everyone else keep up the hope! It seems they still have a bunch of dates open

also just got II, submitted in Augustbut marked complete early Sept.; this is my 2nd II in 2 days, after months of sitting on 0 interviews (&several rejections) I can't even begin to describe how relieved I am feeling! LM 63-66
do you have to finish the update & photo before selecting a date? can't upload photo right now but want to choose a date 🙁

Must use Firefox browser if you're on a Windows PC to upload the photo. I think someone mentioned Safari works for Mac as well.

II today also, I'll be going out there in January. Would be too stressful to schedule this interview any sooner.

do I have to fill out the optional update part at the same time, or can I fill it out later after choosing a date?

Unsure. I filled out the update clicked next, then uploaded the photo, then got to choose a date. I don't think there is a separate tab for the date selection.

Wow! People got October dates?! I got the II two hours ago but was only able to schedule a Jan interview just now. Dang, people are fast

Mine was open until the night before the interview, I have not checked after that.

I'm from Albany. Traffic is really bad and parking is even worse. Definitely double (at least) whatever time your GPS gives you. Honestly, you probably won't go to Boston or NYC except maybe once a year because it's just far enough to not be worth it. Normally people go to Saratoga on weekends or Lake George in the Summer. There isn't a huge night life here at all. There's lot of malls and restaurants though.

Parking is "bad" inasmuch as the draconian laws about switching sides of the street every night in the neighborhood around the campus. With that said, it doesn't cost anything and it is not difficult to find parking in the morning a block or two away to the west and north if you are commuting by car.

Traffic is not great but I've seen worse. The most annoying thing to me is that the stop lights are timed rather than having sensors, and timed poorly at that. Traffic is generally much better than most places in the northeast, but that probably shouldn't be a factor in deciding where to attend med school.

There are people at AMC who never go to NYC or Boston, yet there are people who go to NYC twice monthly. There are three big cities less than four hours away, counting Montreal. People go to those three all the time. As far as the great outdoors, there is lots of skiing nearby in the wintertime, and when the weather warms up, there are some great places in all directions for outdoor activities such as camping, hiking, whatever. It is actually quite beautiful here and it takes very little time to get out of the metro area to the countryside.

anyone with any tips to prepare for this interview? is there really much you can do to prep for it?

I think the MMI is set up so there really isn't much to prepare for. What I might suggest is finding a practicing doctor who is a friend to the family or whatever and ask him if he will practice interviewing with you. He or she should have a good idea about what a medical school would want to see in a candidate.

You have obviously heard the advice to "be yourself", but it is important. As someone who has interviewed many candidates to AMC, it gets pretty easy to sniff out "phonies", those who seem to be simply answering to impress me or guessing what I think is the correct answer.

Hope that helps.

I enjoyed reading this so much..

On a serious note, how long did it take you guys to be marked complete? On the website I've had a "yes" next to everything for a few weeks now but I still have a "no" next to the "application complete and ready for review" section.

When should I consider giving them a call?

email them. they will mark it complete and respond fairly quickly, from my experiences. they're admissions office is very helpful and friendly from what I've seen!

has anyone looked at last year's Albany thread? many people withdrawing interviews before even having acceptances. seems like a lot of unwarranted negativity on last year's thread.

I agree with you in that it's unwarranted. The major complaints seemed to be around people not being serious enough on interview day and that many of the students admitted that they only went to AMC because it was the one school that accepted them. I don't know about you, but both of those things are total non-issues for me. I have no problem with a relaxed interview, and I didn't even know that looking down on someone who was only accepted to one medical school was a thing. Is this a thing? God, I hope not, especially for the people that will (hopefully) be my fellow students. I'm not sure how I'd deal with such arrogance. Anyway, I could be wrong and maybe they were on to something, but the match list looks solid. Other than that, I'm reserving judgment until I see the place.

TL;DR: Haters, etc.

As someone who interviewed there I do think much of the negative hype is unwarranted. The admissions staff is PHENOMENAL. It is still a good school. I think it is the location that is a turn off to many.

well said, and couldn't agree more. when did getting accepted to any US allopathic med school become easy or not an accomplishment? the school seems fantastic, everyone is very nice, and I know I'd personally be honored to attend. anyone who feels differently is missing the main point here.

you're triggering my entitlement complex....TRIGGERINGGGGGG

I'm a first year, and the current second years are - each and every one - phenomenal people. The culture they created for us, from even before the week of orientation festivities and activities, is amazing. I promise you that when the time comes we're going to do our damndest to pass it on.

that's extremely reassuring, and I wanna get accepted even more now! haha. thank you for that

I submitted 8/18! I don't know when they changed my status to "yes" but I guess it doesn't matter I'm interviewing there Jan. 28th! That was the earliest date available on the list. The other dates were from Feb to March :0

anyone know when they send out the first round of acceptances? I heard mid November but idk how accurate that is.

Is it too late for me to second in my secondary now?

Hey guys! Hope interviews and applications are going well for everyone! Any sub-30 interview invites/WLs/acceptances? If so, when were you complete and what were your stats? Thanks for the information and good luck to all applicants!
