This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
they had oct dates?? my portal only showed nov dates. maybe you took the only oct date lol

Yeah, 1 date in October. It went fast.

I went out for a lunch break and when I came back, it was no longer an option =(.

November 7th here, looking forward to meeting some of you!

II as well! complete early August, scheduled for 11/7. I had to download firefox for this II.

So I'm signed up for 11/07 morning interview (It's a friday). I'll be flying in sometime Thursday evening/night - anyone want to share a room or something? Everything is getting so expensive >:[

I'm on 11/07, I may be up for sharing a room Thursday night.

Congrats to everyone! So nobody got an email confirming their interview date?

II on 11/12! There's no confirmation email but the tab that you used to sign up for the interview turns into a confirmation page. When I interviewed here last year, the confirmation email for my interview date arrived around a week after I scheduled it.

I submitted 8/27 and everything says yes except the complete status. Anyone know how long it takes to be marked complete? I know it says 10 days but still...

You will get a confirmation email several days later.

Scheduled an interview for Novemeber 7th! Any one else going the same day want to share a hotel room? I'll be flying in on Thursday and leaving Friday after the interview.

It took my app 19 days - I submitted on 8/1 and wasn't marked complete until 8/20. At this stage in the cycle it will vary depending on how many apps they have received.

So is there anywhere worth going/seeing in Albany? Or else I will just be around the hotel doing homework lol.. I'm getting there tomorrow for my interview Friday!

Empire State Plaza is kinda cool and worth walking to if you have some time to kill. The State Museum is right there, and is free. Some cool 9/11 and natural history stuff. You can walk into the Capitol building across the street too, even though it looks like you can't.

II today! Had to download Firefox to get it to save my picture, but totally happy to do that for an II 🙂

Confirmed for 11/14...OOS, submitted 8/4, LizzyM ~68

Also submitted 8/7 and a big red NO next to complete. I'm not sure how exactly this works- as some people who submitted after us have already been completed, while some who submitted before us are still not complete either...!!? I called a few weeks ago and admissions basically said they were really backed up, and to expect it to be completed soon.

Same problem...it's soooo annoying

It took me a full month to go from the red "no" to the red "yes" next to complete. When I finally saw it I was almost as happy as I would've been with an II! I submitted around 08/11 and was marked complete 9/10. I think they individually go through and make sure you've met their requirements, since it says something along those lines.

If it wasn't done by today (4 week mark) I was going to call.

Anyone who has interviewed, can you share your experience?

Does anyone know the statistics of what your chances of getting accepted are after an interview?

From what I remember from last year's thread: They interview a lot of people, around 1000 for about 100 seats. Around 300 get offers.

I really enjoyed the school and the interview day. The students seem very happy and the faculty and staff we interacted with were very enthusiastic and supportive.

As for the MMI, I can't say much about the questions because of the confidentiality agreement. I will say that I enjoyed it and felt good about it. It had some unique characteristics to it compared to other MMIs I have done or read online. The point of the MMI is that there is a limit to how much you can prepare for it.

I also wanted to add that the interview day really opened my eyes to things about the school I really did not appreciate prior. Mainly that they are the main hospital system for a huge area, you get to see a great diversity of patients and cases, and you don't have to 'fight' over the really good cases because there is no competition with other major hospital systems.

I am guessing the hotel of choice is Hilton Garden Inn? I am interviewing on 11/07 and could be potentially open to splitting a room!

There's no student hosting program for those interviewing, right?
No formal program, though there used to be. Sometimes you can email admissions or student services and they'll put out an email to the whole student body so maybe you'll be able to find someone to host you. Maybe if enough people bug them, they'll try and set this program back up again. But when they transitioned to MMIs they were just so busy trying to nail down the logistics of coordinating all the interviewers for that process that hosting fell to the wayside. I think staying with student hosts is a great experience if you can. It makes interviewing cheaper, of course, but gives you a sense of the housing around the area, and most importantly gives you time to pick the brains of a current student. Otherwise, make sure to ask lots of questions during the student panel and the student-led tour.

Obviously this is a late response and no longer useful to you as your interview is over! But, for future interviewees - Albany has a lot of outdoorsy stuff if you have a car and want to go for a hike or whatever. If you're looking for bars/restaurants, check out Lark street (between Madison and Central), north Pearl Street (between Madison and Clinton-ish), or maybe Delaware Ave (area between Holland and Whitehall). There might be some stuff going on in Washington Park, and the Empire state plaza suggestion is good, too. AllOverAlbany.com is a blog that often lists stuff going on locally (such as Pearl Palooza, a yearly big street fair happening today, for example). I wouldn't say there's anything you *have* to do, but if you're looking for *something* to do, those are some suggestions.

I was complete mid august. Guessing they'll start hitting those dates in the next 2 weeks.

Does anyone know if they are open to pre-II update letters?

Their portal says they don't accept any updates outside of necessary materials for completeness. Log in and read what it says.

Does anyone know how long it takes for the application completion status to read "yes" after all the necessary documents come in?

I submitted last month, everything is checked off, yet I'm still not complete somehow...

I had the same issue. I emailed their admissions office and they responded within a few hours. They told me me that the delay in the website update is just due to the large volume of apps, and they changed the complete status to a "yes"

I don't really know if they were just happened to receive all my materials or whether my email prompted them to mark me as complete

Thanks for letting me know! I'll email them as well.

Sorry meant to add this in earlier but was out of the country. I received an II on Aug. 19 (submitted Jul. 23) and I'm scheduled for Oct. 15 if anyone else is too!

I never got a complete email, but I submitted 8-13. I live fifteen minutes from the college and it's my first choice. I'm obviously in state, a combat vet, shadowing, volunteering, 4.0S 3.7C and 28 MCAT and I haven't heard a thing.... I seriously hope I at least get an II. =(

Lol my status still says no and I submitted mid/late July

Out of state heading for an interview here Dec. 5th, looking forward to meeting some of you!!!

Same here. I'll be driving up from Boston so if people want to meet up for dinner or something, let me know.

+1 for emailing if it's been a while and your secondary isn't complete. I emailed and they just sent back saying it's complete
