Does anyone know anything about Albany's "MD w/ Distinction in Service" program?

It's nothing too exciting, but it's neat. You can get a distinction in a few things such as research or advocacy. It's a way to get more experience in one of these fields or activities with the help of a mentor. I plan on doing a distinction in research.

this was really the one I was interested in also. do you know the requirements to complete the distinction?

They're fuzzy on what the "requirements" are. They help set you up with a research mentor and a project you can do in the summer between 1st and 2nd year.

For those that have interviewed...

If my interview day is scheduled to get over at 1 is a 240 flight out of Albany doable?

We finished earlier by something like 10-15 minutes. Catching a 2:40 is possible but there will be some risk of missing it.

Yeah, you have to think about whether or not you want that hanging over you during the interview day...

Eeeeek!! Decisions decisions. If I don't fly out at 2:40 I am stuck there until around 6, which will suck. How far is the airport from the school? I am guessing it is a small airport and security doesn't take too long?

Wow, I was in the same dilemma. Ended up with the 6ish flight. School is about 20-30 mins from the airport depending on traffic. I thought it'd be better to be safe and not stress out about rushing to the airport right after the interview.

6 isn't really that late... That's what I did and just hung out and studied a few hours. It's actually not a terrible airport (there were Starbucks, bars/restaurants etc)

Anyone else who interviewed 9/24 on here? Have you heard anything?

I think they said 3rd is the earliest that they expect decisions but best intentions and all that, it is not that likely that they'll be ready at the earliest possible time. 🙂 But that's ok, I'm more than willing to wait for this. 🙂

Rejected today, no interview.
Same. I was complete sometime in August and Albany was my first choice.

I volunteered at Albany Memorial and have a 4.0 at SUNY Albany, I'm a decorated combat vet, but I didn't even get an interview.

I've heard that they weigh the MCAT the heaviest now and don't want anyone below a 30. I have a 28.

Is that certain? A bunch of people complete around my complete date and after me have received IIs. I didn't receive a II but I haven't been rejected yet either.

Not sure. I applied with a 4.0 and a 29 and received an interview for September. A friend of mine that interviewed on the same day had even lower scores with a 28 and 3.3.

Does anyone know when we will receive our post-interview decisions? November? 4-6 weeks post interview? Thanks!

a couple people mentioned we could hear as early as Nov. 3, but last years decisions went out around Nov. 18. hard to say for sure, but those would be my best guesses

Rejected (pre-interview)... I'm getting far too used to this. 🙁:arghh:

Interviewing on 11/07... does anyone want to split a room? I'll be driving in on Thursday night sometime after classes end. I'm a guy FYI

Interviewing on 12/05 and will be getting a room at the Hilton, flying in sometime around 8pm on 12/04, if anyone wants to throw some money down to split the room let me know...I've got no preference of roommate but for your info I am a guy

Echoing what others have said about a long wait time between submitting the secondary and being marked complete- I submitted the last of my materials on 9/25 and never received a status change. I called the office a few minutes ago, got through to someone quickly and was informed that my application had been processed this morning and that I should see the status change within 48 hours. Don't be shy to call the office if you haven't heard anything for a long time!

Anyone interviewing on Dec 5th? I'm going to book the hotel right next door and they have an option for 2 queen beds. If anyone wants to split the room let me know.

I'm a dude, if that matters to you.
