2014-2015 Emory University Application Thread

II just now, but there is no "Interview" button at the top of the portal...
I had the same issue when I got my interview offer. I emailed the admissions office, but it looks like it would have been resolved in a couple of hours anyway. I would say it doesn't hurt to email if it makes you feel better, but you could also wait a couple of hours. Good luck on your interview!

Congrats!! May I ask when you were complete?

Ah, I see. thanks!

Complete mid-July, LizzyM ~73 strengths and weaknesses regarding basic stats (also ORM)

If I can get an II after this long, nobody's out of the running yet.

There don't appear to be any current students who have commented in this thread.
Would any care to? Does anybody have the contact info of a current student (perhaps someone
they met at the interview) that would be willing to talk about the school/their experience?

Any recent interviews hopeful for a decision today? Does it seem like most people get passed over at least once post-interview? I have my fingers crossed, but I doubt I'll hear anything this quickly. I'm hoping I won't be waiting until March to hear something.

I got an "Admissions Offer" tab pop up in my application portal this morning. I'm assuming that means accepted.

I can't seem to access my portal at all today. The link to the supplemental won't even load. Anyone else having trouble?

What link are you using? I'm using what they emailed me, which has obviously worked before, but maybe I need to use something else.
I've been using the link that they emailed me for the secondary and it has been working today

Unless this is some Johns Hopkins BS, I got the admissions offer as well?!?!
I can't put into words how happy I feel right now. I know it's just a step on the road to medicine, but I'm beyond happy.

Good luck to everyone. I wish you all the best. Drinks on me.

Came home from the gym tonight and meandered my way upstairs to my bedroom only to find a letter from Emory University SOM on my bed next to a credit card application. I didn't even open it before I started jumping and dancing around like a madman. My mother thought something was wrong so she rushed upstairs. Speechless, I just handed her the letter and we hugged it out real good, sweat and all. Christmas came early this year. I wish the best of luck to you all, and I hope to see you in 2015. If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask here or PM me!

I applied to the MD/PhD combined program at Emory. Was just wondering how their timeline works and if there is still any hope for a chance interview invite being sent out.

I finished the application on 10/20

Hey everyone. Received the best christmas news ever and was accepted to Emory earlier this week. Very grateful to spend the holidays with my family celebrating and to be accepted to such a great school. Really enjoyed my time visiting Emory and Atlanta and excited to potentially start this July. Interviewed late November. Good luck to all still waiting.

if this makes you feel better, I got rejection to the MD/PhD program on Thanksgiving day without an interview invite. So if you haven't received a straight rejection maybe no news is good news. You might still be in for consideration.

That is good perspective. I was not sure if Emory sent out many rejections during the process.

If you don't mind me asking, when did you submit your MD/PhD application (@ngeche)??

Des anyone know if Emory allows biochemistry to substitute for ochem 2? I can email admissions but I thought I'd ask here too

I received my official letter as well while I was home 🙂 I am SO excited (and a little surprised) to have been accepted.

I was also accepted to Georgetown and Jefferson, but Emory seems like a better fit for me especially with the emphasis on research (I applied to MD/MPH) and the clinical experience at Grady. My only concern is that Emory is far from home and I don't know anyone in Atlanta. Jefferson and Georgetown are close to my family and I also have friends living in both cities. Does anyone have any advice? I'm open to and even excited about moving to a new city, but I'm not sure how difficult it is to meet people with the stress of medical school and I am very close with my family.

You will have little choice BUT to make friends with your fellow students, so I wouldn't be terribly concerned about that. Atlanta is a bustling city with plenty to do. There are all types from all over the place here, so it's hard to say that there is a particular city personality. Lots of food, beer, artisan this and that (the hipster vibe is strong), and culture to sample. Emory will certainly give you clinical variation galore.

I live in Atlanta if you want to PM me any specific questions.

My opinion - you might want to move away from your comforts and distractions to fully focus on medical school. This is an adventure, right?

For everyone - traffic near Emory is the pits. Live close and on a shuttle line. Decatur and nearby are lovely and somewhat affordable. Toco Hills and N. Druid areas are more affordable. Virginia Highland is more fun...if you think you will have time for that. 🙂

Thank you for your advice! That's definitely the way I'm leaning and Atlanta does seem like an awesome place.

Has anyone found an accepted applicant facebook page yet?

I submitted mine on October 9, which was rather late.

Guys, is there any hope for someone passed over the last two acceptance decision days? This is my dream school :S

Here's a post to those of you who have already interviewed and/or know the area really well. Where did you stay? I haven't made any hotels reservations yet and my interview is this month. Anyone else interviewing soon and wants to share?

everyone don't forget to get your FAFSA information in to all your schools, in or not! the earlier the better I've heard!

Is this really a thing? How does it affect their decision?

I stayed with a student the night before my interview, and I would definitely recommend doing that. It's nice to get a feel for where students are living and to get another student perspective.

I interviewed on Friday, so I stayed for the rest of the weekend as well in the University Inn at Emory. It's very close to campus (I walked there after my interview) and they have a discount for interviewees. Comfortable room and breakfast is included 🙂 but really the best part is how close you will be to Emory. Ask for one of the renovated rooms.

Anyone accepted received their financial packages yet? I am a post-bacc completing pre-req courses and this is a school I am heavily interested in. I am just trying to get an idea of the cost per semester.

Just got an interview invite today. Complete mid-August.

I saw that someone mentioned receiving a schedule of the decision dates at their interview. Does anyone know how many are left and when they are? My fiance is going to move wherever I end up going, so he's just wondering when he would be able to start looking for jobs, if I get in.

There are 3 dates left-- 2 in Feb and 1 in March. Good luck, the Emory campus is awesome, I had a great visit!

When I signed up for my interview (yesterday), the March date was not available, so they might be releasing a few dates at a time. There might be more dates added, so there is hope.

Sorry for the confusion--I was referring to the decision dates. Emory has a finite number of dates upon which they release admissions decisions post-interview. Good luck with your upcoming interview/visit!

Awesome, thank you! The good part about interviewing so late is that I guess I won't have too long to wait for a decision, even if it's the March date.

So sorry for the confusion, I misread the original question.

I understood. Booked my interview for February, so the most I'll have to wait is a month for a decision from them, which is better than some of the other schools I've applied to. Thanks for your help!

Does anyone who has already interviewed remember when they send out the second look invite? I feel like I'm remembering March something...

Hey everyone,

I submitted my application a while ago and haven't heard back in a long time (I'm a Canadian). I've been offered 2 interviews elsewhere but I still want to interview at as many places possible. I'd love to be interviewed here but I'm losing hope. Should I send a letter of interest?

Have any accepted applicants started the background check process? I thought the AAMC was sending background check info to all accepted applicants after January 1, but I have yet to receive anything.

Does anyone know the likelihood of getting an acceptance after not hearing anything for the past 3 batches of letters?
