2014-2015 George Washington University Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
They will re-review those on hold for interviews throughout the cycle, so it's definitely not a type of rejection. Just from what I've seen on this thread, there have been people that have been post-secondary rejected already, but not very many. It seems like the majority of us have been put on hold, but my opinion is that the group of people who use SDN isn't always indicative of the overall applicant pool. The only thing you can do now is wait and stay positive!

I've been following this thread since my HOLD in July and haven't come across any rejections. Did I miss them?

I've also been on hold since early August. I saw someone post about a rejection but I just checked back and they corrected themselves about posting in the wrong thread. I guess everyone really is getting put on hold!

Yea, alrighty. So it's hard to say whether a "hold" holds a glimmer of hope. 🙁

Just placed on hold today as well; I was complete 8/24. LizzyM ~69. I guess this isn't good, but it isn't bad either?

I was on their website and I believe I read two or three times that being on hold is just part of their admissions process. Though I do think it's a bad sign at other schools, this school it doesn't necessarily have to be.

Why does it feel like they placed everybody on hold that was complete late August? Does this mean that they're already running out of interview spots and will be more selective of who they grant interviews too now?

Directly from their admissions website: "Files may be read multiple times before a decision is made with regards to extending an interview, and it is quite common that files are put on hold before an interview invitation is extended. As such, we recommend that applicants keep their file as updated as possible by using the online application portal."

So I guess this means we're okay for now...

On hold too, submitted 8/22 or something like that, LizzyM in high 60s.

Anyone recently get an II who submitted in late August? I might surmise that the admissions office is like super busy right now with earlier waves of applicants, maybe even making admissions decisions for people who have interviewed? Then moving on to us again...?!

No, I don't think so. I think that it just means they're still reviewing our application. A hold sounds like a more thorough consideration than anything, especially from what I read on their website. I think we're fine. Just send updates if you have any. Sit tight. Or at least that's what I'm going to do.

Nice.

It's just there haven't been any rejections...

So like everyone's on hold lol

The latest posted SDN II I've seen has been August 15. But it seems like they are in the process reviewing August apps now? Keep hope

Hey guys, sorry if this has been asked already, but is there an overnight student host program? If so, who do I contact?

EDIT: nevermind, Its on the website

I know there are a couple interview feedbacks on here already, but could anyone else who has interviewed recently share their interview experience? Any trick or tough questions?

I was complete late July but no change in my status and no word from GW. Should I be concerned?

I was complete mid August and placed on a hold today for my September MCAT score

Just found out about SDN but I've been a member of the "hold" party for awhile...
submitted 7/29
hold 8/28
LizzyM ~70

Would a 26 MCAT be too low for admissions here for an African American/URM?

New to SDN so wanted to share my dates/stats

Complete 8/5
II 9/23
Scheduled for 11/11

29 MCAT (9/7/13)
3.6 GPA
OOS

Question regarding the application update section on their portal. Does the update have to be a file or can I just type a message into the box provided without any supporting documents?

Sorry if this has been previously asked, but does anyone know if GW is open to "in the area" emails? Thanks!

Just realized that I was put on hold but not sure how long that has been...Has there been any outright rejections?

On hold as well, sometime between 10/3 and now (10/6). Complete late August.

or rejections :/
I agree with @goldfish91 lol. As long as you have good EC's and LORs I'd be more inclined to say narrowing down for interviews. I know stats aren't everything, but for what it's worth I am LizzyM ~71, complete a month after you and was placed on hold. You might just have an II in your future. Best of luck to you!

To the people who have interviewed already, I was wondering if you had any tips for my interview. This is my first one and I am a little shaky on my interview skills! I have done some lurking in the threads, and I have gathered that its pretty laid back, but I would appreciate any tips! Thanks!

Does anyone know if GW looks at LOR pre-interview invite?

Is there a way to tell the date that my application was put on hold?

Emailed II today!

Secondary submitted 8/16. They automatically scheduled me for a day in December. They interview only on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.
