I didn't have anything to update them on so I didn't send one.
 
I haven't posted in this thread yet, I'm on hold. I was complete late, end of September. LizzyM score is 73. Not optimistic, but it helps seeing others get II after being on hold for a while.
 
So the consensus is that you can still get an II after being put on hold? Was put on pre-II hold in October.
 
Interviewed here yesterday and I have no qualms saying this is my top choice. Essentially everything about this school is a perfect fit for me, and I think I should reiterate it to the adcom. Do you think a letter of interest/update (something new actually came up today at work - ha!) so soon afterward would be a good idea or too eager?
 
I would most definitely not send a letter of interest. You applied to their school and just went there for an interview...obviously you are interested. Not to say that you didn't, but your opportunity to show your interest by showing genuine excitement and knowledge about GW's program during your interview. During my interview at GW, both my interviewers allowed me the chance to ask about anything...so you had the opportunity. IMO (feel free to disagree anyone), sending a letter so soon after your interview would perhaps show impatience, something they are not looking for. And if you got an interview, they are most likely not too concerned with any update. You've made it past the hard part in getting an interview. The interview means they like who you are on paper and want to make sure you're a normal human being. The only reason you would need to send an update at this point would be if you got wait-listed later on, but aside from curing cancer, no update will have much of an impact on their decision.

Send a thank you email, thank them for the opportunity to interview, perhaps mention one part of the school/interview you enjoyed, and express how you are looking forward from hearing back from then.

Take a deep breath, have a beer (or two or three) and enjoy the moment. They said 8-10 weeks and I heard back in under 5, so you might not have to wait as long as they say.

I think a school would be cruel to mark someone as impatient, and count it against them, because they liked a program enough to express after the interview that there experience reaffirmed their interest in the school. A school doesn't know your response to their interview day off-the-bat, it wouldn't hurt you (maybe it wouldn't help, but it shouldn't hurt) to let them know it was a positive one. Maybe I'm wrong though.
 
The difference between an acceptance and a rejection/WL is fit and interest.

Yes, I made a good job expressing exactly why I want to attend (5-6 different highly specific points). But I only have one shot at acceptance here and if I don't give all the reasons in the world for my candidacy, I lost. This time #yolo.

MrMe123...I agree with you that expressing interest after the interview is a good thing, but only if done so in the correct manner. sending a letter to the admissions office anxiously stating your interest, IMO, is a silly move. I think you can express your interest in a concise sentence to your interviewer in your thank you email/letter that you send. they will be the ones speaking on your behalf at the committee meetings anyways. But sending a general letter seems weak IMO. And again, just like your Personal Statement where you need to "show and not tell", you shouldnt have to tell them you are interested and excited, they should be able to tell from your level of excitement, enthusiasm, and knowledge about the program that you expressed during your interview.

I apologize if this has already been discussed earlier in the post, but I'm wondering if anyone knows whether or not GW is receptive to update/ in the area letters pre-interview. Any success stories? Thanks!

Sent an ITA two weeks ago, got put on hold last week... not sure if there's a correlation.

Does anyone know how many students GW interviews vs how many get accepted? Do you have a 50% chance once you make it to the interview?

Congratulations! I would also like to know if you updated them pre or post hold status. I'm currently on hold and contemplating an update.

I did not send in an update...figured I'd leave it up to the fates (plus I've been lucky enough to get two acceptances at this point).
 
For any one who knows, and this is not specific to GW, but after getting accepted, what is the timeline for getting financial aid pacakages?

I REALLY want to go here, but my state school is 20k cheaper a year

Also, any idea what a "typical" financial aid pacakge is here?

Just got put on hold here today. Submitted my secondary on 10/13. Took about 2 weeks to process that I had submitted. Was being reviewed all of last week.

I wonder how much love I'm going to get from GW, my LizzyM is a mere 55.8 🙁

How was the interview style? Laid-back? healthcare system-heavy? ethics-heavy? I'm going to obsessively read the thread to see what people are saying but since you had what seems like a really good experience, I wanted to hear your thoughts!

I interviewed in September and my interviews were both really laid back. I was asked all the standard questions (why medicine/ why gw/ etc), and I didn't get any health-care related or ethical questions.
 
Have any October interviewees heard back yet?

Here's what impressed me best about the school

1. Relaxed and friendly people. Everyone I met was easygoing and more than willing to patiently answer questions (I had quite a few).
2. Kesley, the interview coordinator, is just great. She put on a great tour, was able to answer everyone's questions well, and made us (I'm sure I can speak for everyone) feel really good about being at GW.
3. We got a thank you note for interviewing at GW, and after I sent in my own thank-yous Kelsey confirmed that she'd sent them. I loved that I was acknowledged.
4. Interview was very conversational. Obamacare made an appearance.

Sure! I submitted the secondary on Sep. 22. I have been on hold since around Oct. 17. I haven't submitted any types of updates or anything.
 
No I actually did not I mean I had nothing to send as I am out of school. But I guess just crazy luck.
 
so with GWs blind interviews... i understand they probably want an unbiased interview so they close yur application. but what does that mean for ppl who have red flags on their application that they might want to explain? does that mean when they give u the II they hav determined yu somewhat worthy to attend the school despite the red flag? any insight would help in regards to GWs or any schools blind interview idea.
 
Can any current student answer some questions about the school?
1) Is the grading system P/F?
2) Is there video capture for lectures?
3) How many days/hours a week are you in anatomy lab and how many students per cadaver?
4) As someone looking to go into general surgery, is GW a good place to succeed?
5) Any last overall thoughts?

3-I think a more relevant question is, how do you pick your partners for cadavers? If there's a height difference, you're going to be out of luck.
4-GW honestly seems strong for surgery - they have the Washington Institute of Surgical Education
