Is 6 considered a good number?
um its typically the average I've been hearing for most schools I've interviewed at, 5-6. however some much smaller schools tend to have 4 per body. but 5-6 is the average for most classes of 150+ ppl

Sorry I don't want to get too specific. It was within the first week of the month.

ok thanks. I just wanted to get an idea when will I hear back. I interviewed the second week of October.

I interviewed early October and got placed on the waitlist on 11/11. I know the email said we could send updates through the application portal but if I wanted to send GW a letter of interest should I email them directly or do it through the application portal as well? Thanks!

Rejected pre interview after being on hold for a little while. Complete 10/6 LizzyM - 74

I would do it only via the portal!

Sorry about the rejections everyone. It is a sad state of affairs when you are happy to not be hearing anything back...ugh. Put on hold within days of being complete in early October.

Rejected yesterday. Complete 9/16, On Hold 11/10. 32 MCAT 3.8 GPA. Good luck to everyone.

Been on hold since mid July and have gotten absolutely nothing yet. I wonder if I just got lost in the shuffle somewhere with the other thousands of applications.
I have been on hold too and I applied mid-August. My LizzyM is ~68 not counting my grad GPA which would push it higher. But I see that recently a lot of people with higher stats have been rejected. I hope you hear some good news soon.
And by hold I mean my application has been reviewed once and they didn't come to a decision and will be reviewed later.

Has anyone heard back post-interview lately? I interviewed on 10/28, and I'm dying here.

so sorry to hear of all the recent rejections! 🙁

on hold since august/september... nothing but silence since 🙁

I interviewed in the first week of October and heard back on 11/17. I would say you've got a few weeks more of waiting. I feel ya though, it's psychological torture 🙁

do yu mind me asking if yu were accepted? and did yu send in any updates post-interview?

+1 with very similar dates and stats

Yes, same boat with similar LizzyM. I've noticed some very high GPA/MCAT combos be rejected, so I'm fishing for a possible trend here.. My application is definitely not typical - first gen college student, always worked through school, and a few other peculiarities. Anyone else similar to this?

I was complete 9/8. Put on hold early October. Silence since then. I guess still being on hold is better than rejection.

BTW, OOS. 30 MCAT, 3.8 GPA.

Ditto. Similar stats, but a bit earlier completed, later held. They seem to send out II's on Thursday/Friday so here's to wishful thinking and refreshing my email neurotically the next 36 hours.

I was placed on the alternate list...but am remaining hopeful!! And I did send an update after interviewing.

I would definitely say that GW doesn't seem to put the ultimate focus on stats and is more interested in applicants being well rounded and having a wide variety of experiences. I have a 27 MCAT, cGPA 3.85, sGPA 3.68, was complete in mid July, II in early August, interviewed in October.

i got my II on a tuesday... sorry to throw off ur pattern. however, GW only interviews candidates on tuesdays, thursdays, and fridays, so maybe they only send out II those days also. maybe those days are solely dedicated to prospective students in terms of interviewing and sending out IIs? just a thought

+1 on your theory

I want to believe I'm still in the running, but I feel like the axe is inevitable based on the recent bloodshed here ;( Love this school

Chin up. Stay positive. As much as it's a bummer to see the rejection comments, each day you're not one means there's a higher shot of an II. There's still a bunch of time left, they're only scheduling mid-January now (going off the last person I saw here).

does anyone know if we have to include contact information for new activities were including in our update letters like we did for amcas? like if i started a new scribe position, should i list phone #, email, location address, person of contact and etc. for verification purposes?

Couldn't hurt. I don't think it needs to be quite so formal but if you have new activities I would certainly let them know about it.

I didn't list all of those things in my update for a new position, but I did give the name of my reference and offered to provided any other information that may be needed (or said something along those lines).

Do you guys think that an interview in December most likely be for the waitlist?

I think that you should walk in prepared to wow them every single time. No school has stopped accepting great students, and you never know when you can wow a committee enough to win your slot. If you assume a certain outcome your are not giving it your best effort! As far as I know, nothing is decided until the acceptances are finalized and the school stops looking.

Schools don't take the time/ spend the money on interviewing people for their waitlist. GW already has an enormous waitlist formed from all the interviews they have done. They are still looking to find people that they want to accept outright.

Not to pile on, but it's important to remember that these schools are also competing for us. All of us. Not just the 3.9s & 37 MCATS, but all applicants who they interview. Look at MSAR and US News, acceptances are often 150%-200% their matriculation rate, not just for GWU but most. Go into your interview and be brilliant, personable and positive and if you're the type of student they want, you're in.

Also tell them that Cyril is still waiting on his interview invite and would appreciate that happening after Thanksgiving.
