2014-2015 Hofstra University Application Thread

Interviewed 10/28 and has not heard anything, but it's okay I don't think I want to come here but I think it is a bit ridiculous that vague timeline was given and that I still have not been given any type of notification yet

I interviewed in November and haven't heard anything yet while others in my interview session were accepted. I'm pretty sure I'm getting either a W/L or rejection at this point. Seems like they haven't doled out anything but post II acceptances yet. Kinda annoying.

Same with me 🙁

for anyone who has been accepted--the instructions for securing your seat are a bit vague--is paying the deposit the same as automatically "accepting terms and conditions"?

Seem like it is, I just paid the deposit and got a confirmation e-mail that says my seat is now being held. I guess paying the deposit includes accepting the terms and conditions 😵.

Hofstra is one of the new schools that favors high MCAT applicants. Their step scores were also pretty good and now they have 2 years worth of them. I'm more interested in their match results this year.

I think the weather has messed up the schedule a bit. Only saying that because it seems there haven't been acceptances for a few weeks now, unless people just aren't posting.
Yeah I'm hoping the lack of acceptances lately translates into the school not having sent out very many. Otherwise, March is going to be a real doom-and-gloom event for us in the thread! One of my interviewers was an M4 so she's probably so busy that a two month wait isn't unreasonable....right....guys?

I will say that I looked at last year's thread, and the people who had to wait until March did not have good outcomes...

This is what it said right? "Thank you for submitting your deposit to hold your seat at the Hofstra North Shore-LIJ School of Medicine. Please continue to check your Hofstra Portal for additional information regarding requirements for matriculation."

At the my interview in early Jan someone asked when we could expect to hear back and the assistant admissions dude said, "At the end of February we'll start letting people know if they're on the waitlist." It made it sound like no one would be given an outright acceptance. When we tried to get clarification, he just sort of repeated the same thing.

It was odd but, as the end of February approaches with no acceptances, I'm starting to think that was the truth?

Yep, pretty much all it said, guess we should be okay.

I interviewed there the other day and they made it seem like if you get accepted you hear back in 2-3 weeks and it not you'll know what's going on by mid-march when they "release the waitlist"

Pretty much the same impression i got at my interview

To those who signed up for revisit weekend: did you receive an e-mail confirmation after filling out the online registration?

has anyone from 1/23 or later interview heard any news?

A quick note for those loosing hope: i dont know how much the WL moves but i at least know one person who was accepted off of it

Can it just be mid-March so we can get this waiting over with already? Geez

When do they usually have their admissions meetings?
I think it's Mondays, because I received my admissions decision early Tuesday morning. But n=1 and they may have it on different days each week so there's really no definite answer.

I received mine on a Wednesday, for what it's worth.

I called them today, they said they'd send out the decisions for this batch of interviews in 2-3 weeks.

what about some of us who haven't heard in months?
Last year the huge wave of WLs and rejections came out March 10th, a Monday. Following the same logic, we should know March 9th(ish) this year.

At my interview in late Jan, they didnt give us a time frame, but said everyone would know where they stand by mid march

They definitely said the same thing at my interview about everyone knowing by mid-march, but they also seemed to strongly hint that those hearing good news would find out in two or so weeks and everyone else would find out after that. I am at the two week mark this week and have heard nothing. It seems like the last acceptance posted on here was from a mid January interview. . . has anyone else heard anything since then?

Hmm, but why would they wait so long to tell you if they've decided to reject you? Maybe they do it so they could decide later on who to put on the waitlist?

Based on the FB group, about 10 ppl have been added in the last week. Dunno if it means they were accepted recently or just didn't join the group until now, but it seems like they're pretty consistent with acceptances (every 2 weeks).

Anyone else having difficulty with the 03/20 deadline for their parents tax transcript? Does not look like I'm gonna make it.
Yeah, may also have a problem with that one. What happens to your aid if you miss these deadlines?
