2014-2015 Texas Tech University - Lubbock Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
It also says the $100 isn't required to accept the offer, but necessary to matriculate...but according to an above poster it is. I paid it just in case but they really should be more explictly clear on what we need to do to make sure the offer stands.

Seconded. I accepted the offer a long time ago, but was really confused about the payment. Like you, I paid it just in case.

Yeah, I agree with what you guys said. I was confused about what was required for accepting the offer vs. for matriculation since someone mentioned that the payment was necessary by the 2-week deadline even though the wording seemed to indicate otherwise. Makes sense about the transcripts though since most people haven't graduated (even though I have, ha)

I asked explicitly about the $100 when I called the SOM and they said you had to pay it to accept the offer. Then again the guy I talked to didn't seem to be very in the know and kept putting me on hold to go ask someone else.

Received II this morning for 12/5- that was the only date available! 😵
Congrats! How long did it take u to hear from them?
Is 12/5 the last interview of the year?

Just got an II and the site only showed 12/5 as being available for me also. I can't attend that day because of another interview, so I called and they told me there were spots available 12/12, 12/15, 1/7, and 1/13. (I may have forgotten one other date they listed). They were super nice and confirmed me for 1/7, so definitely feel free to contact them if you can't make the date that shows up on the website!

If you don't mind me asking, when were you complete? Also any stats you feel comfortable with sharing?

They're also planning a date on 1/9

I was complete at the end of July, Stats about 3.7, mcat 32. Just got an interview invite early this week.

I was complete by the end of Aug, and transmitted near the end of Sept. Thanks for the tips! I'll give them a call and see if I can change my date.

No problem! I was transmitted early/mid October and stats wise I have a 3.73 gpa and 33 MCAT.

Good luck to everyone!!

Just spoke with admissions about changing my date, since my work schedule wouldn't allow me to go this Friday. They were very nice and we were able to work it out, but there are actually only two dates available: Mon, Dec 15th & Tues, Jan 13th. The rest of the dates are full.

Did anybody get an acceptance phone call? They mentioned in the interview that they typically do that. Prematch email received 11/15

So did another batch of acceptances go out yesterday, the 5th?

Did anyone receive scholarship offers with their prematch? Do any current students know how that typically works? TIA

I received a scholarship offer a few days after my prematch. How long do other Tx schools have to offer a scholarship?

If you have already been accepted, you can go to the link sent in the acceptance email—it's also the same site we used to complete the secondary. Then, go to the "offer" tab on the top, in the left hand corner there will be a link to scholarship information. Assuming you received a scholarship, you will find the information there. If not, I assume the tab will not be there or it will say you did not receive a scholarship, yet. I put yet because I assume once people turn down the prematch offer they will be able to allocate those funds to different students—so don't lose hope!

Thanks for the info!

Accepted into the FMAT!!

Can current FMAT students share their experience? I am wondering how the accelerated timeframe affects keeping up with the coursework; if there are any overall differences in grades/exam scores between FMAT and the regular program students? I understand it would very much depend on individual efforts, but still.. for ex., I think there would be the added responsibilities of FMAT2 & FMAT3 around the time when one is taking the USMLE exams..

Thank you

Congrats! When did you interview?

Does anybody know if Tech is done sending out pre matches?

^hey fellow frog! I think they should have one more round to send out

Well, looks like I snagged a spot on the last interview day (available on the portal, at least): Jan 9th. How are the interviews at Tech Lubbock and how can I give myself the best shot possible?

Does anyone know when OOS decisions will be made? Is there a waitlist for OOS applicants?

Thanks!

Very laid-back and conversational, nothing to worry about 🙂 Be able to talk about what you mentioned in your essays and why you'd want to come here, just like any other interview. For me, it really helped to read over the SDN interview feedback page, just to make sure I had answers for everything on there.

Just got an interview invite, but it's a little tricky as I am supposed to go back to school this weekend (tx res, undergrad oos) and the last day is their only day, Jan 13. But I sent an email as suggested and we'll see what happens...
Money money money....sigh.

Edit: long story short, they offered to see if the 9th opened up, but it's just too late of a notice, so, I'll talk to my parents and see if the 13th is possible, otherwise I'll let someone else have an opportunity.

Edit UPDATE: I'll be going on the 13th. Guess I'll be missing the first day of classes, again lol.
