April 30: Based on past threads, we should be receiving the "We have filled our class" email. But don't worry; they'll continue offering acceptances to the WL well after this.

Accepted off the waitlist last Friday 5/8. I have decided to withdraw, a tough decision since I really liked Buffalo and for a long time I thought that if they accepted me I'd definitely attend. But I will be going elsewhere (somewhere warmer... I've spent my whole life in WNY and I'm looking forward to a little change)

Best of luck to those still waiting, and I'm glad one of you will be able to take my spot.

Prior to last year, they released relative rankings (Top Third|Middle Third|Bottom Third).

For waitlist acceptances, here's when they made the Top --> Middle Third transition in the past:
2012-2013 May 23
2011-2012 May 29
2010-2011 May 13?
2009-2010 June 2
2008-2009 ??
2007-2008 June 19​

Of course, that doesn't tell us too much for this year. From last year's thread:

And that's despite last year's group being told that they'd reduced the size of the waitlist from previous years. Maybe last year was a statistical fluke. Or maybe UB is getting better at identifying the "ideal UB candidates" -- people who will attend if given the chance.

Either way, I would guess that we've seen at least half of the waitlist movement that we'll see this cycle. So while we shouldn't give up hope yet, it's probably a good idea to work on contingency plans for the coming year.

(Also, it looks like they move to direct phone calls around July 1st.)
 
I received an email from Mr. Rosso that I am accepted yesterday at 8:22 AM. This is my first acceptance. I am in process of deferring the admissions for a year because I have committed to a year long research assistant position. Hopefully Dr. Severin approves the deferral and one of you gets my spot!

By my count, last year saw 5 acceptances in June (at least, 5 that were reported on SDN - 4 members, one friend of a member). They switched to calls around the 17th (email notification was sent then, it looks like, asking for phone numbers). Only one of those 5 came from a call.

Fingers crossed, but ughhhhh.

ETA: I think our sample size is bigger than last year's though. So maybe we'll see a bit more movement?

Hi all! Didn't know there was a wait list thread. Interviewed 9/10, put on wait list 10/14, accepted 6/4. I think I forgot that I even applied here. Such a long wait. Will most likely attend!

Just curious - people from previous years seemed to call Mr. Rosso on a regular basis for wait list movement updates. Has anyone here spoken with him?
 
the list is currently slowed to a "snails pace"according to my last correspondence with JR
 
Ok, I panicked and called him myself. LOL

Mr. Rosso said that this year is seeing more movement than last year, that the list still is moving (though he didn't qualify if it's at a snail's pace or not), and that they expect movement up until August 10th (but that's no surprise). He also mentioned that they had accepted someone this morning.
