"On Wednesday, July 1st, we will begin filling any/all openings in our 2015 Freshman Medical Class by DIRECT PHONE CALL to the next candidate, and if "LIVE" contact is not made after using all your available phone numbers, we must continue to proceed down the wait list to the next highest ranked candidate."​

This is a terrible year to be on the waitlist...

Just accepted off the waitlist by direct phone call. I accepted the offer, but I'm not sure what I'm going to do. I just moved into an apartment and I'm set up to go to a DO school in Illinois, where I'm from... I can take the financial hit and pay the rent to go to an MD school or I can stay and go to a DO school. This is easily the hardest decision I've ever had to make.

Yeesh, that's a high pressure spot to be in. But don't you only lose the security deposit? I'd take the MD spot and run, financial hit and all.

I'm pretty sure most responses you're going to get will tell you to take the MD. (Allopathic forum...). However, I think the letters after your name aren't going to matter as much as the work you put in at the school and what you get on your boards. I know DOs in good surgical residencies and an MD in a crappy pediatric one - and I know an MD in a great internal program too. It really came down to motivation in all cases.

If you're going to be a frustrated MD in a DO's body, go to UB. Otherwise, I'd say go to the school you want to go to, UB or the DO.
