How do you know?!
There is a 99 percent chance I will get a no change status, but I am still excited for others to be accepted!

They told us at our interview that the AdCom would be meeting this thursday, yesterday, as it was the last thursday of the month due to Christmas, and that we should be relieved that we are getting some sort of update (today) so close to our interview date.

I know its crazy but I was checking my phone non-stop last night, hoping that like @SmallTownUSA I would get a miracle phone call at 830 pm telling me I was accepted...didn't happen unfortunately lol. I have a feeling I will also get a Status Unchanged e-mail, but am praying for some early, good news!

PS anyone know what time of day the emails go out?

Early afternoon. My status unchanged emails went out at 1pm CST for October and 12pm CST for November.

EDIT: @treschic124 beat me to it lol

Got a call from a Columbia, MO area code. Robo-caller. Excuse me while I change underwear...

Got another "status unchanged" email. No surprise whatsoever there!

Lost in a sea of "Please apply to our law school, we'll waive your fees and give you a scholarship!" emails, a status unchanged email.

+4 for status unchanged; I really hope my score isn't abysmally low lol

Lol thats weird, Mizzou wants you to apply to their law school? And a bunch of other schools? Never heard that one before...

Yea, I know I got a few when I took the LSAT way back just like for the MCAT. But I guess when I sent my score to a few schools with dual degree programs, must've triggered something and now there's a deluge. Good schools too so it's getting tempting with all these hold/reject emails.

If you get an interview here, what's the chance that you'll get an acceptance? How many people do they interview vs how many do they accept?

MSAR.
IS: 74 matriculated/ 297 interviewed
OOS: 22/122
Overall: 96/419
Keeping in mind of course those who choose to enroll elsewhere and the large waitlist movement.

@illinoisgal typo fixed 😉

I'm confused by the math here

Could be people who deferred, though 27 seems like a lot.

I deferred last year, so I'll be matriculating this summer. Good luck to everyone, and hope to see some of you in a few months!

Hey everyone! I have an interview in Feb and I'm trying to make plans as an kinda far OOS. Firstly, what airporr is the best to fly into? Columbia seems most expensive, so I was thinking of flying into Kansas City or STL and then taking a shuttle to Columbia...does anyone have experience with this? Or any suggestions on what to do?

Also what time is interview day typically finished for those with afternoon (1pm and 2pm) interviews?

Lastly, I was thinking of staying at the Hampton Inn, the one walking distance from campus. Any other suggestions or recommendations?

I would appreciate any help! Thank you!

First of all, I believe that St. Louis is closer to Columbia than KC. I don't know if there is a shuttle from the airport to Columbia, but you could check. If not, I would suggest renting a car at the St Louis airport and driving over. The drive is about 1.5 hours and it's super easy. Also, if you rent a car you will be able to drive from the hotel to campus because it's freezing cold and walking seems intense. I stayed at a hampton inn when I interviewed, but it was not within walking distance of the admissions office so I would double check that.

Afternoon interviews are usually over around 4 pm, but they have this system where if your two interviewers disagree about you, they will ask for a third interview. They ask you to wait until 4:30 or so for the interviewers to decide whether you need a third. It's apparently very rare but they'll tell you about it on interview day. I didn't require a third and I got out of there around 4:15. Hope this helps !

My issue is that the flights that I'm finding out of STL after the interview all have departing times before 7pm. I don't think I'd make it back to STL from Columbia in time to catch the flight. Not sure why flights stop leaving after 7...maybe I'm looking it up wrong? I looked up flights using Kayak.com, and they all tell me that flights after 7pm don't exist for the day that I'm trying to leave.

I would try searching on specific airline websites to see if you could find a later flight. Or you could stay an extra night in STL and fly out in the morning depending on your schedule. I would start by checking out airline websites like american and United etc. If you still can't find a later flight I would call the admissions office and discuss the situation with them. They are super nice and will totally try to help you in whatever way they can !

Anyone else interviewing January 29th?

I rented a car out of St. Louis's airport (though I had other interviews also in St. Louis). It took me less than 2 hours. Couldn't find any transportation to Columbia that was cheaper to be honest if you find the right car rental deal. And if you don't stay at the Hampton Inn or with a student, you'll be driving anyways.

Yeah this seems like the most plausible. Has anyone tried flying into Columbia?

I'm pretty sure there isn't a commercial airport in Columbia. Your best bet is STL and maybe try to airbnb near the airport for flights the next morning if you can't get out then. I got a flight at around 6 and I left my interview at 3. I had afternoon interviews, so it could work out.

Ahh I see. So Columbia Regional Airport is a no go? I'm just worried about driving in a state that I don't know, so if possible, I'd like to avoid renting a car. But it's seeming like that might have to be the move.

Well I did a little google search and I'm mistaken, it looks like American flies there somewhat. I'm more of a Delta/United guy, so I am not as much in the know with American.

I did some basic searching and it looks like flight options are pretty limited to just O'Hare in Chicago and Dallas Fort Worth... so if either of those hubs are on your way you could make it in just two flights, otherwise you might be looking at 3, and that is opening you up for more potential for delays/cancellations. I'm sitting in an airport now on a delayed flight that takes off at midnight now.. unnecessary stress before an interview I'd say (but I'm headed to work). STL to Columbia is not that bad of a drive and it is all highway, so I'd encourage you to do that.. it is probably cheaper too.

It is a very straight forward and easy drive--primarily interstate. It is worth renting a car, cheaper than the shuttle (I priced it out) and more convenient.

I really enjoyed interviewing here. The interviewers were very welcoming and the campus is beautiful. Best interview experience I have had throughout this cycle.

What are the interview questions like? Ethical questions? RelAxed vs stressed? I noticed there are two one hour interviews. Do both interviewers ask similar questions?

Most of the questions were about experiences and what you learned from them. Some were more of typical interview-type questions like describe a time that you failed, what are your strengths/weaknesses, why do you want to be a doctor etc. It seemed more relaxed and conversational. I never felt like they were trying to trick me or anything.

Interviewed yesterday. Loved it. Students are friendly and laid back and PBL seems like a great way to learn.

Pretty relaxed interview, though both interviewers had very different styles. One of them pulled out my application and went through it point my point and the other had a list of prepared questions that she asked. Both were very conversational and I didn't feel stressed at all.

I hope one of us at least hears back by the end of this week.
I think the email goes out at the very end of the month. So Jan 30th we'll know whether we're accepted, rejected, or on hold.

The email time might vary. I interviewed nov 12 and was notified of acceptance nov 21. Just FYI. Good luck !!!

Probably due to Thanksgiving being the Thursday after so they didn't meet. That's most likely why you were notified earlier.

Still waiting to hear back. Good luck to everyone!
