I think we find out whether we are accepted, rejected, or on hold via email. At least that's what I remember hearing.
 
Status unchanged aswell. Any idea whether sending them a letter of intent would be a worthwhile endeavor?

I doubt it. From what I understand, your file is completely closed post-interview and your spot on the list cannot be altered.

+1 that is what I heard as well

Also, status unchanged for me as well.
 
This is very random...but what is the parking situation like for med students? Should I try for an apartment that is walking distance to campus? Or is it feasible to expect to drive to campus and find parking? I come from a large state school where parking on campus is horrendous, so excuse me for asking such a trivial question.

Congrats on your interview! They are pretty low stress and nothing to worry about. The interviewers just want to know more about you. If you got an interview, you've got the stats to get in. Just smile and show them you are someone people can get along with and that you are committed to medicine. The interviewers aren't there to make you nervous. Everyone here is very personable!

I came from a slightly smaller college so I was excited to come to Mizzou and experience the college town atmosphere. I love sports and got season tickets to football and basketball last year but only got football this year because I'm and M2 and we take the first part of our boards at the end of the year so I won't have time to go to games. Columbia itself is an awesome town. It's small enough that you can get around to everything quickly but there is always plenty to do. I lived here over the summer and was never bored. If you like hiking or bike riding, the Katy Trail is fantastic. There are tons of local restaurants with great food and some really awesome local breweries if you're into that.

As a med student you don't have a ton of interaction with the undergrads because everything we need is all connected (the med school and hospital are attached so we don't even have to go outside if we don't want to). The PBL curriculum is great. It's a little scary at first but you have lectures that help indicate what material in important and it is just re-emphasized and explored more deeply in your PBL small group. One great thing is that you actually get exposure to medical problem solving and reading images and labs during the first week of class. By Thanksgiving, you'll be able to interpret your relative's bloodwork thoroughly (believe me, they'll ask you about any tests they get lol). You rotate small groups (of 8-9 people) every 8 weeks so you get to know another set of your class each time which is much better than sitting in lecture for 8 hours a day. We also get to use the simulation center where they pay people to act like they have medical conditions and you interview them (you start learning this the first week so you get right into it which is scary but awesome) and eventually practice the physical exam. It's really a state of the art facility.

The fact that we have no grades but are pass-fail is AMAZING! Knowing that I only need a 70% on an exam and that I don't have to worry about getting that 93% to get the A relieves a lot of stress. However, we don't have homework or tests other than the exams we have at the end of each block (blocks are basically like quarters from high school). So there is an added level of stress there. But if you don't end up passing, you can retake the exam. On the bright side, residency programs don't really care about your first two years all that much. As long as you ultimately pass, that's what they want. So having a P/F grading system is awesome overall. I should also note that our Step 1 board exam scores are consistently in the top 15% in the country so we must be doing something right!

That's a totally legitimate question! We are fortunate that there is a parking garage literally right next to the med school that we can park in. You do have to buy a pass but the price is reasonable. You won't have any issues finding a spot. However, there are places close to campus you can live in and walk from if you want (mind you they will be slightly more expensive than the apartments further away due to the convenience factor). There are a decent amount of people that choose that route but the majority of my class drives to school. Hope that answers your question!
 
Don't know if this is the right forum, but........

Got rejected within a week of final LOR being sent (in mid Dec). They said this is why I was rejected. Late app. Otherwise my file is competitive.

I'm reapplying in the summer. Should I take MedPrep II? Any accepted people take it?

I took MedPrep II last summer and was accepted this year!
 
For those of us with 'unchanged status' will we hear back again at the end of Feb. or March 15th?

In my interview Alison said they were finishing the application process early this year and that we would hear in February. I'm not sure when though.

At my interview this week, they said that there are 29 more spots, 3 more adcom meetings, and that the next status update will be a final update status with either accept, reject, or waitlist!

Welp, it's been a fun run guys, but I'm not feeling this one since I've had "status unchanged" since October. Here's to everyone giving their best shot!

Only 29 more acceptances? I thought they accepted the majority of people at the end of the cycle?

Thanks 🙂 You never know, though. I have massively incorrectly predicted the results of two of my other interviews. Thought one was awesome and one was "meh," but got accepted immediately to the latter and it's been 5 months of silence from the former. 😛
 
Welp, unless something drastic happens, it's time to start gearing for 2016.
 
They'll undoubtedly be accepting from the waitlist up until school starts. I was told that they've had a student drop out during orientation (pretty sure I know this guy, he was accepted to Wash U last minute) and they called the next person on the waitlist.

I pretty sure you can get your waitlist rank once interview season is over. I think the top quartile is pretty much guaranteed to get in and then you still stand a good chance in the next quartile.
 
Ad Comm meeting tonight!
Interviews are finished next week and the final admissions decisions will be decided then.

Ahhhh, I hope I hear some good news.... is there a tentative date when finial decisions will be released? - mid March?
 
I think final decisions will be next Friday since they are done interviewing next Thursday and will have the adcom meeting that night.
 
So if we interview that week we'll hear back by the end of it? Can it really be so quick?
 
Every other interviewee will have their score by then. So once the people who interview next week are evaluated in next Thursday's adcom meeting, everyone will have their place in the list after that meeting.
 
That is...horrifying. No pressure, eh?

Horrifying but exciting, I should say. I'd rather this than a several month wait time.

I agree. I had to wait three weeks. That was enough time to go from "My interview went well, I'll probably get accepted" to "Ugh, I probably won't be accepted woe is me".

Fortunately I did get the acceptance at the end of January.

Try hearing it right before your interview. But I agree.
 
I am just wondering how many people do you think they interview every week?
 
My guess is the total number of interviews offered will end up being very close to previous years. I guess if you want to calculate #/week just do a rough estimate and it would be pretty close.
 
I've been following for awhile, but have decided to chime in. So, the final adcom meeting is tomorrow and that means that within less than 48 hours we should be hearing back, is that correct?
 
That's my understanding. I'm simultaneously really nervous and satisfied in ignorant bliss.
 
What time of the day should we expect to hear?? I'll be in another interview so I might turn my phone off lol
 
Tomorrow is the indefinite release of applicant ranking? I had a feeling it was sometime in March...
 
Guys, nobody has confirmed the ranking comes out tomorrow. I was under the impression it would be in march as well.
 
At this point, I don't really care when it comes out lol.
