I only have like 400 hours of community service (300 of which are clinical) and haven't been rejected. Not sure if they're actually still considering me or if I'm on the list to be given the ax and they just haven't contacted me yet. TBH I don't know why my application would stand out to Rush so I'm pretty surprised I haven't been rejected yet.

Kind of in the same boat. They value leadership, community service, healthcare exposure and research but have rejected quality people while I'm still in the running despite being completely average.

Forgot to post here but I got an interview invitation on Friday! Scheduled for early January. I don't know how many interviewees they accept, but if I get into this school it would be the greatest day of my life.

They interview around 450 and accept around 250-260

They did not disclose this during my interview day. However, there were roughly 20 interviewees there and I think they only interview on Wednesdays. So you can try to do the math if you are curious.

Just interested what it means to be this late in the game, having applied so early, yet still avoiding some of these mass rejection slaughters. All any of us can do is some pretty blind conjecture. Or just try to ignore it until we get the final decision. Both seem unsatisfying.

Post II. Six months ago I would have told you that I *know* you can't be wait-listed without a II, but if this application cycle has taught me anything it's that I don't know anything about everything.

They didn't mention anything in particular about it during the interview day; other than them telling us I have no idea how you'd acquire that kinda info.

I am still waiting on 13 of 26 with two interview invites and 11 rejections. The rejections suck, but its the silence that really gets me!

I'm in the same boat. I hope Rush sends an invite my way, but after the mass rejections the other day I'm slowly losing hope.

Rush sucks. Some people feel deceived by the admissions committee. Rush is not as collaborative or caring as they make it out to be. The administration is not here to help us succeed. In fact the non-MDs in charge like Dr. Leven are so caught up in power trips that they default to saying no to whatever requests we have. They forget we are here to be doctors, and instead treat us like wiley children, chastising us constantly for random things. If I could sum up the administration thus far, two words: incompetent and unprofessional. Do not come here. If I had known back then what I know now, I would not choose Rush.

The email from Jill said that there's 250 people offered admission for a class size of 128, including the offers for the waitlist. I'm assuming "including" here means "as well as".

Did everyone who interviewed but didn't get accepted get waitlisted?? If so, that's probably about TWO HUNDRED people that are waitlisted. Idk, but that seems crazy.

I guess to me, this seems bad for those waitlisted. Can anyone else confirm this and, if true, explain what this might entail?

This is wrong sorry. There have been people in this forum rejected post ii. Jill told us interview day that around 120 people get waitlisted and around 20 come off so the odds aren't great anyway.

I'd be interested in hearing some examples of this as well. So far from students and faculty I've only heard good things.

Hi, I haven't heard anything at all- submitted secondary August 6th. I have been accepted for a 2 month medical research position in London, England for the late spring/summer and wanted to update them on this.

I went to a recruiting visit back in October. One of the students asked Alyssa about pre II updates. Her response is that they do not accept them. However, that doesn't mean you can't try. I don't think it can hurt your application.

Yeah. Rechecked old threads as well. there are no post interview rejections. I think you only get rejected by rush post ii if you botch it, otherwise it's accepted or waitlist.

Just because it isn't posted on SDN, does not necessarily mean there are no post-interview rejections. That being said, it's apparent that the overwhelming majority of decisions are acceptance or waitlist after the interview.

Many people are on these forums, just so you know this. This is not where you should be venting your frustration with administration and faculty. The admissions committee is separate from the teaching faculty, obviously. I agree there is a disconnect between the quality of the admissions committee and some faculty for the first two years. However, the first two years of medical school really is self learning for the most part with occasional mandatory meetings.

I take it you are an M1 and you are whining about having to take some physicianship ethics final right before the block final--or something ridiculous like that. I can tell you that looking back on those pre-clinical years and talking to students at UIC, Loyola, and CMS... we have it better. Also, Rush shines during clinical years so just buckle down til you can set foot in the near-billion dollar tower okay?

EDIT: Obviously something has happened to you recently that made you pissed off. I think it is important to remember that although you are upset at this moment, the comments you make here on SDN impact quite a few people and for a long duration.

1) Did anybody bring a suitcase to the interview? I will need to check out of my hotel and leave my luggage somewhere during the interview.
2) Did anybody take the subway in to the school? I was thinking about catching a train near my hotel (by Grant Park) in to the medical complex. It appears there is a stop right near by both for the blue line train.

Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks!

I had a suitcase with me. They're fine with that.

The subway stop right near there is about a five minute walk to the medical school. I did it in heels, it's not far 🙂

I interview next week but I live in Chicago so hopefully I can be of some help! I don't know where exactly in Grant Park you are, but both the pink and blue L lines stop at the Paulina St. station, which is a 5 minute walk from Rush.

I asked this question a few posts back, I believe the response (according to boilermaker, who was accepted) was that the waitlist is probably a hundred people but the movement, at best, is around twenty.

So is it 12o applicants waitlisted PLUS 250 accepted? or does the 250 accepted applicants include those that got waitlisted?

In general, the "accepted" statistic at any school includes those accepted by any means throughout the cycle--be if outright, off a hold, off a waitlist, etc.
