2015-2016 Stanford University Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Unless they're deliberately leading us low MCAT folks on so that they can reject us later in the spring. That sounds about right. 😉

Wow... I hadn't been on SDN for awhile and all this action happened the past few days. Also still in the running unbelievably so 😵. Complete first week of August, LizzyM 67.

First time SDN post-er here. I joined hoping to contribute to the rather amazing MD/PhD thread but figured I should help the data collection across the SDN community (and hopefully to allay the nerves of "late" submitters such as myself--hang in there!).

II earlier this week. Completed late September.

First time posting as well....
Anyone from 10/6 interview hear back?

congrats! stats if you don't mind?

For anybody who has heard back good news, did they email you along with the call? Or did the email come after the call? Thanks in advance!

anyone else having a hard time contacting the admissions office? Been trying a while now and to no avail...Things appear to run differently this year as the have in the past (and yes, I'm aware there is a new Dean and Director).

Complete 8/13 haven't heard anything back....not holding my breathe though.

To people who interviewed on 10/6 or earlier and didn't get an acceptance call, were you notified of your status? continued or rejected?

Haven't heard anything. From previous years' threads it seems that our applications are basically deferred until the Spring. :/ Or maybe since they did Pre-interview rejections earlier this year we'll hear in January about Waitlist or Rejection. Who knows, but I doubt the prognosis is good.

On my interview day, Arturo said to call them for a status update if we don't hear anything from them. Might be worth a call

Hey All, I interviewed on Oct 6 as well and haven't heard anything either.

During my interview day, I remember Arturo also mentioning that if we don't hear back from them by mid-December, we could contact them (I can't remember if he meant by email or phone). In any case, I am definitely way too much of a chicken to contact them. If they need more time to decide that they want to accept me, I'd love to give it to them, rather than receive a rejection right away.

That being said, it did seem like Arturo meant that by mid-Dec they should have a definitive answer for us. It almost seemed like if we don't hear from them by then, it was only bc they accidentally overlooked us or inadvertently hadn't gotten around to emailing us.

In light of that, what do you mean by "we'll hear in January about Waitlist or Rejection. Who knows, but I doubt the prognosis is good". Do you really think that just bc some people from our interview date got accepted already, we definitely won't be? I'm really really hoping I'm still in the running bc this is my dream school!

I just noticed from last years' threads no one mentioned getting an acceptance call once people from later interview dates had said they had received acceptance calls. Most of the people that were "skipped" over (just left in the dark) ended up getting waitlisted or rejected in Feb-March. It's just a pessimistic speculation though.

I also interviewed on 10/6 and haven't received the call so I gave them a call yesterday and actually talked to a person. They said (at least for me) a letter (snail mail) was sent out and I should get it soon. Didn't tell me what the letter says. I am guessing it's either deferred/waitlisted/rejected. I guess I will find out in a few days. BUT, I am not sure if this applies to everyone who hasn't received the acceptance call.

II invite last week as well! ^_^ submitted close to the deadline.
For people who have recently been invited, did you also have dates only in February?
Also, after scheduling II, did you receive "further details" regarding the II day?
Thanks!

Is anyone else unable to login to the MMI website? I'm using the username/password they provided along with the interview information but it's not allowing me to login, even though the same credentials worked ~1 week ago. 🙁

it's anonymous and decoupled, supposedly?

Supposedly, but then why do it at all, especially inside your application? Not that I think they're bald face lying but it feels prickly.

Haha I hope so. One less thing I'll be judged on then

Actually, I think it could theoretically be used in evaluation. Mining the old threads, I came across this:

"Health Belief and Attitude Survey
Give YOUR opinion for each item using the responses below. Prior to any data entry for the potential use of this information for any research purpose, your name and unique identifiers will be removed from the data set to ensure anonymity.

If you read the wording carefully, they're only assuring you that if this survey is used as part of larger research they'll make you anonymous. They're not saying that your survey will be detached from your app. "

I don't have access to the survey anymore to check the wording, but I wouldn't be surprised if they used it somehow. Anyone have any more specific insight?

^ I remember someone being nearly instantly rejected after submitting their secondary. It made me think that perhaps there are "wrong" answers to that survey that will get your app thrown out.

I have no evidence to support my hypothesis.

Heh, I thought the same thing when it happened, but who knows what the adcoms would be looking for, if they even are using the survey answers that way.

This makes me nervous. I also interviewed on 10/6 and haven't heard, oh well.

Anyone know which interview day they're processing next now after 10/6?

Seeing as how they only meet once a week on Thursday or Friday and this Monday someone got a call from an Oct 6th date, probably whichever date came next/finishing up date 10/6.
Anyone know which interview day they're processing next now after 10/6?

It's also weird how few calls are going out and how random it seems. I haven't heard anyone on my interview date hearing back at all and as of right now there's been about 1 person per interview day who's heard back (while there were 30 people on each day and statistically if they accept about 180/450 interviewees they should accept about 12 people per interview day)

Edit: Welp **** wait listed
