Mannn im reaalllyy hoping i jump on that next round of interviews.

I received an email saying that they received my secondary, but I never got one saying that my application was under review. Do they send an "application complete" or "under review" email at all?

@ SouthernPreDoc, I believe that that TT ElPaso only send out "application complete" emails. There is no under review email.

"
Dear J1988,

This is to confirm that your secondary application and fee have been received.

Thank you....
"

The above is what your email should say.

Okay cool! That's the last email I got. Thanks!

Just going off the amount of replies this thread has compared to other Texas schools, is there less interest in this one?

Seems to be less II here than other Texas schools or may be no updates from people.

Congrats! Mind if I ask what your stats are?

My bad, I definitely should have thought of posting that when I posted! 3.54 cGPA / 3.52 sGPA / 35 MCAT.

Congrats @texaspremed44! Can you share when you where complete and what interview dates were offered?

I was complete on July 4th and they offered me September 10th and September 17th. I went for the closer date, so I'll be there on the 10th! 🙂

Wait what? Isn't it past August?

When were you completed? Stats also if you don't mind.
My application was complete on June 27th. Seems like a great school, however I think I am going to decline the invite. Im OOS and traveling is getting really expensive... LizzyM= 76

Was everyone only offered two dates? One is the day before my galveston interview and the other is on a day I planned to fly out of town for something personal a long time ago 🙁
If I call, are these excuses too weak? :/

"Please describe any personal experiences or disadvantage (educational, financial or otherwise) and their significance to you in your pursuit of a medical degree. If not applicable, please so indicate." -- Does this include positive personal experiences that contributed to my pursuit of medicine or is this intended to be more of road bump/struggle question?

Hey guys, I'm an IS with 3.3 cGPA, 3.07 sGPA, 38 MCAT. Do you guys think that it's too late for me to start a TMDSAS application for Tech?

II today. Complete 7/28.

Guys, my mom doesn't want me to interview here because she thinks it's unsafe and I have six other interviews thus far. What can you guys say about safety? I don't want to leave any stone unturned.

Congrats on the II! I interviewed in El Paso about a month ago. The city seemed very safe to me. I drove to several places around town and didn't see anything even remotely scary looking. The staff at the school emphasized several times that El Paso is the safest large city in the US, but that they would strongly prefer that students do not go across the border for now. I don't think your mom needs to be worried.

In addition, the Foster school is just lovely and you'd really be missing out if you don't see the awesome way they have set up their curriculum.

II, 10/1. Anyone else coming this date? I'm so excited! Heard a lot of good things about this school!

I completed June 1st. My stats weren't the best so I've been worried but now so happy! 🙂

Wow that's such a late turnover. My secondary was submitted and processed on 8/12 so I don't even know if I have any chance of hearing back from them. But I would love to interview here!

It's a great school when you take a really close look. Their curriculum is really set up well. Their Step 1 scores are very solid. Also, it's a smaller class. Couple this with the school being on a P/F system for the first two years, and it creates a great group learning dynamic. Besides that, El Paso is a great city, with a great culture. Congrats on the interview!

I hope you will get your interview soon! I wouldn't worry too much. Mine was probably late because of my stats. I'm super excited and I'm practicing for my interview! Has anyone been offered rooming with a med student there? Is it an easy process? I signed up for one and am crossing my fingers!

First, you're applying for medical school. You are an adult. That being said, El Paso is one of the safest cites in the U.S. safer than the other Texas cities.

It's funny because El Paso was ranked as one of the safest cities in America for like the 4th consecutive year. Juarez however is a completely different story... just don't do any adventuring across the border during your time there, it's pretty simple. PLFSOM is a good school though and they surely impressed me during my interview there. It's still pretty low on my list, not because of being next to the border but because it is in the middle of nowhere and I'd prefer being connected to a medical center in a larger city such as UTH, UTHSCSA, UTSW ect... But anyway, if there is no possibility that you would want to attend that school even if you were accepted, then don't go to the interview. It would just be a waste of time and money not only for you, but also for the school.

I wouldn't say its the middle of nowhere. Yea its in the desert but El Paso is the 19th biggest city in the U.S.A. This isnt as big as Houston or Dallas of course but its a lot bigger than the majority of cities in the US where other schools are.

@drumass Let me clarify...what I mean by "in the middle of nowhere" is that El Paso is a 9hr drive from my hometown and at least 8+ hrs from any other major Texas city. So basically I perceive it is being in the middle of nowhere surrounded by desert. And I visit El Paso quite frequently so my opinions aren't based off of a one time trip. And your're right, El Paso is a large city but it is still smaller compared to Dallas/Fort Worth, San Antonio, Houston . Sorry, I should've used a better choice of words.
