What does Lizzy M mean?
It's a score used to compare relative competitiveness. In its most simplistic form you take your GPA and multiply by 10 then add the old MCAT score. It hasn't been refigured for the new one. For example with a 3.5 GPA times ten 35 plus MCAT of 30 would be Lizzy M of 65. Max would be 85

@REL, does it make any sense for a non-trad to submit a late app to UCF at this juncture? My app would likely not be complete until mid-October. I know that applying as early as possible is the best way to go, but I would like to know if an app complete in mid-October is dead in the water just because of timing.

If it helps, I have about a 3.7 undergrad GPA, science GPA is about that or maybe a little higher. I am finishing a master's degree earlier than I expected and would love to catch the tail end of this cycle. UCF is my number 1 choice (I'm in-state).
As you indicate, meeting the deadline for medical school applications normally means that you are late and your chances become diminished. In our process we will always have seats available for applicants all the way through our final interview day in early March. We will likely interview ~425 again this year for the 120 seats. You have obviously missed several opportunites to be selected for an interview with your later submission, but if your application is competitive you would still have a good chance at being interviewed. We do interview a goodly number of non-trads and the end result of our class is normally in the vicinity of a 50-50 split between those who completed the BS/BA in the last year vs those that have been away from academics for a year or more. If you have not done so, and you feel that the MCAT score will be above our minimum 495 for this year, I recommend submitting you AMCAS and also the Supplemental App so that less time is lost in the process that remains.

Status is still "FILE COMPLETE - READY FOR REVIEW" even though it has been over 15 days (submitted 08/13). Should I call?

EDIT: EFI received today

I wouldn't call. I think mine took just over 15 BUSINESS days, so you are still right in that range. Even without taking business days into consideration, you're only at 18 days.

Complete: 8/10
EFI: 8/27
II: Hoping this will come soon!

Checked my status today and have recieved EFI. Was complete late August. I'm in Brazil and afraid I may miss a very important phone call

To the applicants who have already interviewed: How was the II? Anything crazy or is it straightforward and relaxed?

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe this Friday is the first interview day? And from what I've heard UCF has one of the best and most straightforward/relaxed interview days!

Wait this friday is the first interview date? Anyone else participating in the evening before dinner?

I was wrong according to @mauroz, apparently last Friday was the first day.

Also, received an II today! This is my top choice school so I'm really looking forward to it.

EFI around 7/29 if that helps anyone!

What's your LizzyM? and are you IS or OOS? I'm wondering if they are going through the higher lizzym scores first (since so far it seems that way! With the exception of 1 or 2 people who've gotten II with lizzym around my range)?

My LizzyM is 71 if you go with my more recent grades but lower if you go back 12 years.

Is UCF receptive to in the area emails? I will be in Orlando for a week in a couple of months and I'm flying from clear across the country.
@REL If so, do we send an email to admissions or update via attachment on the portal?

I was in the area from California and my interview is two weeks after I get back lol. It's still worth it to ask but didn't end up working for me.

Bummer! Sorry about that. I haven't been offered an II yet and I won't be there until January, so I was hoping that an in the area would help me find out if I should book my flights to leave enough for time for an interview or not. I guess it's worth a try!

Does anyone know if we upload the update letter to the "Attachments" portion of the dashboard, or email it to the admissions office directly?

Do you know if pre-II update letters are welcomed? Although I don't really have anything to update except a confirmed grade for a class I was taking..

Yes, you can submit a maximum of 3 updates at any time during the interview cycle. Updates can include a (Summer/Fall term) grade sheet, something more on volunteering, awards, research or a combination of these types of topics. But you only get 3 for the year so make 'em count.

Why thank you! Have no idea how long I have been EFI...happened to look a few days ago and didn't really realize what that was...either way impatiently waiting for a decision. I need to get out of VA and get to that sunshine state!!!!

Best of luck to your application 🙂

Been complete since the 24th, whhyy is my file still 'ready for review'

I have been complete since early July but my status is still file complete - ready for review. It has been way longer than the 15 business days. Has this happened to anyone else? Not sure whether I should contact admissions or not.

All are cleared on our internal system but it may not be reflected on your dashboard. Send an email to [email protected] and we can check it for you.

EFI just now, been refreshing it all day lol. Still kinda bummed I butchered my secondary though.

@REL Are there stats from previous years of those that applied after attaining a graduate degree (MA, MS, MPH)? Just curious how those stack up. I saw your discussion that the tradition / non-tradition ratio from 2015 was about 50/50

Yes, there are normally 14+ MS-level students and from 1-3 Phd-level students in each class. Our class usually is about a 50-50 mix of students immediately from an UG degree and other non-trads (those out of college at least 1 year). You can look at our web-page and get class demographics that shows this info.
