2015-2016 University of Cincinnati Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
At the interview I attended last week, they told us that both IS and OOS have a >50% chance of admission after an interview. 🙂 It seemed like a fantastic school--crossing my fingers!

Thanks great Intel....just got II I am IS

Hey guys! I have an interview on the 7th, and I was wondering if anyone who has interviewed so far could tell me about parking. I've looked all over their website and all I could find was information about flying in. I'll be staying at a friends house that is a ways away, and so I'll need to drive there in the morning.

You can park in the Eden Parking Garage right across from the CARE/Crawley building (where the interview takes place). They'll validate the parking for you.

so is the care crawley building where we check in as well? I am confused on their instructions?

Yes! There's a giant staircase, go up it, go in the door and the check in table will be right there, you can't miss it.

II today, its nice that they pay for the hotel, dinner and provide a tour of the city.

1) his status is listed as an 'accepted medical student', so im not sure why he wrote about getting II
2) they don't do any of that of course. none of the schools do.
actually they do, my II said the same thing, but it's because it's for a specific interview date only as part of their diversity initiative.

ah ok, so not generally then 🙂

Also you can be accepted and still receive interview invites. Sorry about not including the diversity part I just read the email and said wow that's nice.

The people with the diversity interview get it all paid for. I got one of those too, lol

Wait explain this diversity day thing.
I believe it's only for diverse application (not white or asian). They host you on the day before the interview, pay for you dinner that day, and take you on a tour of the city.

They say to RSVP on the portal? I only had the option to RSVP for the main interview day?

Question guys,

I'm an OOS applicant, 80 Lizzy score, application marked complete 8/14. Still haven't gotten II. I do have an IA for illegal file sharing on the campus internet which could have put me on hold until later in the cycle. Any thoughts?

Lol omg @ your LizzyM score. Maybe your stats are too high? Some schools reject people who they know will get into better schools, I don't know if Cincinnati is like that. Hopefully that IA won't count against you though, sucks that you got written up for that, everyone does it.

They could just be a little slow working through applications. I'd say give it a full two months before thinking about it too much. That's what my advisor has been saying, at least.

Interviewed today and absolutely loved this school. Such a well organized, welcoming and informative day! Ah I am so eager to find out in 2 weeks!!!

Where you in the morning or afternoon group?

Hey guys, a question about the MMI process - does this mean just scenario-based questions or are there also traditional interview stations during the UC MMI where they ask things like "Why UCCOM" or "Why medicine"?

Hey all,
Sorry to up the neurosis around these parts, but anyone else interview on 9/30? Think we might be hearing something back tomorrow?

Also, for those who plan to interview at UC in the upcoming days, the questions they ask don't cover topics that require in-depth knowledge of medicine or the politics related to it. It's all about your people skills. (The good folks over at UC emphasize this to you themselves.) There aren't any traditional-type stations where they specifically ask you questions about your application. Regardless, you should still be prepared to talk about yourself and your experiences.
That's my $0.02.

I interviewed 9/30 and they told us during one of the presentations that we'd definitely hear back on the 15th.

I've never been to Cincinnati a day in my life, but I am interested in this school and my stats are in their range. Worth an OOS app or no? MSAR says its about 1/3 OOS students, but unfortunately there is no way to tell how many had significant ties to the area/state.

I had terrible dreams about murderers and my teeth hanging out of the roof of my mouth by their veins...

every time i get an email, i have a heart attack. i dont even have the strength to check the portal. i am losing it lol

I was sitting in lab group and I had my computer open pretending to be looking at the article we were discussing, but really I was just glaring at my email with laser eyes.

They did say to us on 9/30 that since we were interviewing later it might be "later in the day on the 15th"... Sob. It needs to happen now, the anxiety is killing me.

Gah, I interviewed 9/2....they've probably had a decision all set for a while, no!? i just cannot even focus at work, this is driving me nuts
