worth adding this one as a last minute addition? also concerned since they interview so few oos/oos applicants
Isn't UM Miller relatively OOS friendly? It's a private school. If you don't mind the essay lengths, I say go for it.worth adding this one as a last minute addition? also concerned since they interview so few oos/oos applicants
msar says around 200 interviewed for 5500 applicants, and 113 matriculants. I always heard that miami is friendly to OOS but those stats make it seem like it's really hard to get to interview stage, but really easy to get in once you've been invitedIsn't UM Miller relatively OOS friendly? Yeah, those numbers definitely aren't accurate. Those numbers aren't accurate. I thought the same thing when I saw that while applying last cycle. I don't remember the exact number but they told us on interview day thay they interview somewhere around 600 applicants.
Also, the class is usually pretty close to half and half IS/OOS.
That's a very good question. They didn't specify, but I assumed they meant the primary. They said they "logged in to the portal and downloaded 2,500 applications on the very first day."Just curious - are you referring to the AMCAS primary or the supplemental also? @Flintwire
How many of you filled out the optional sections? I feel like I already talked about most of them in the activities list ...
I only did 3 optional essays, and 1 of them was only 3 sentences long. Just add stuff if you have something more to say, don't repeat yourself. How many of you filled out the optional sections? I feel like I already talked about most of them in the activities list ...
I think the latter - don't give the same exact info.I'm already put my most significant clinical experience in my amcas and it says do not replicate from amcas so should I not write about what I already said was my most significant clinical experience or should I rephrase it with more detail in my secondary???

I checked out last years thread, I think the message is a good thing. Most (not all) of the people that got it ended up getting interviews. As I understand the alternative is a "hold" status.
This is the default status change everyone gets once they have been completely evaluated by the committee pre-interview. And no, there is no way to determine how many points you have or what the interview cutoff is.STATUS CHANGE!!!!
"Your Application has been reviewed by the Admissions Committee at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. Applicants will be invited to interview based upon their point total from the Committee review. Applications that have been reviewed and scored by the Committee will be considered for interviews during the entire interview cycle (September - April)."
Does anyone know if we can see our points anywhere/what the interview cutoff is? Has anyone else received this status - or an II/rejection??
Am I being mooped right now? If so, then lol. If not, then okay, my bad. I'll just stay out of pre-allo and go to allo where I now belong.
So people with this status have gotten rejections? This is the default status change everyone gets once they have been completely evaluated by the committee pre-interview. And no, there is no way to determine how many points you have or what the interview cutoff is.
Haha looked that original post up and that thread was hilarious!Welcome back![]()
WA represent! All quiet on the western front (get it? cause I'm from Washington State? ha... ha... ha... :| )
@Ginred -- no secondary app yet. However, I'm a biochem major, so I better hope I took a biochem course in undergrad 😛
If you're asking in regards to the why Miami essay, it'd be best to go and do your time and research and make your own informed decision 🙂LOL sorry about my last post. i was extremely tired lol
what do you guys like so much about this school?
Where ya from!?!?! I grew up in Spokane, but I work in Pullman (bleh). My sister lives in the Issaquah area right outside of Seattle/Bellevue.
I found tons on their website! You have to look though, it's not given to you on a platter that's for sureI can't find much information to use for the "Why Miller" essay on their website. There's nothing about opportunities for med students that I can see. How did you guys write a 500 word essay about this? (I've never been to Florida)
I don't know where you were looking! I've been clicking around all the links for like 2 hours lolI found tons on their website! You have to look though, it's not given to you on a platter that's for sure
What day were you complete?II just now!!!!!MD and MD/MPH
Complete 7/23, Lizzy M 72.5, OOSWhat day were you complete?
Are you IS or OOS? and stats if you dont mind please?Complete 7/23
Edited above post to add statsAre you IS or OOS? and stats if you dont mind please?
So you got an interview for both the MD and MD/MPH programs theyre separate interviews?Edited above post to add stats
Do you think the early II is because you applied to both MD and MD/MPH?Yes, they said it's two separate days with the MD interview on day 1 (Miami Dade Campus) and MD/MPH on day 2 (Palm Beach Campus). No complaints from this Ohio girl about enjoying the Miami weather for an extra day 😎
Didn't grow up here but spent the past decade or so in the Bellevue area 🙂 so excited to be done with this stuff soon and actually go outside while there's still sunshine
What was your status before that? Also congrats! I think you're the first 🙂II just now!!!!!MD and MD/MPH
