How did they break the law?
Guys. It's only October. If you're not accepted now, it's okay. I didn't get accepted until the middle of May (I interviewed in January). So please don't be glued to your phones and don't stress out too much. Your time will come. I hope all of you who interviewed had a good time at my school. UM is a wonderful med school, and I'm really happy to be here. I hope to meet many of you in the future. Good luck!
Alternate list... 🙁
@acekhalifa , did you do anything to get off the alternate list during the time you were waiting? What are the chances of getting off of it if we interviewed this early? 🙁
I'm sorry 🙁 Hopefully we can get accepted at one of the next admissions dates!! Don't lose hope 🙂 How did you find out though, email? I still haven't heard anything...
Ditto, and my status online hasn't changed to decision made yet.Has anybody been accepted MD/MPH? I was a part of the first MD/MPH group that interviewed, and my status hasn't changed yet. I was assured by one of their Admissions people that we would be reviewed the first time the adcom meets.
It looks like everyone who was accepted so far was from the MD pool. My bet is that MD/MPH interviewees will hear back tomorrow.
A few more questions before I presumably vanish off this thread for awhile (or just lurk)...
When looking at older threads for UM, it seems like the ones placed on alternate lists early on don't end up getting off of it (or they just sort of..vanish off this thread too). How true is this? Could it just be because they most likely got better offers elsewhere and therefore dropped their spots on the alternate list? The reason why I ask is because it seems strange that most people accepted off the alternate list interviewed in Nov-Feb. It's weird because I thought the process of getting II came from a prelim score, and if yours were higher, you'd get an earlier II. So, wouldn't your base score pre-interview be higher? Assuming most people don't tank their interviews, wouldn't it be easier for the earlier interview people to have overall higher scores once interviews were factored in?
I might be missing something in my thought process though, because I definitely haven't seen anyone on SDN who interviewed sept/oct get in off the alternate (that posted anyway). Most were january-feb interviews, with like a few november ones.
Anyway, I think prolonging my presence on this thread is just going to get me depressed. Will probably check in sporadically during acceptance dates..or not. Bye guys 🙂
Same but 9:28. I just think they didn't get to us yet. So no stress u till 2 weeks from now 🙂I interviewed 9/25 and did not hear anything about waitlist or acceptance. Do you think I should call the admissions office or just hang tight until the next acceptance date?

Yes, they do. I've sent in updates and have received confirmation that they've added it to my file.Do they accept updates? Not letters of intent, just updates?

There's a reason why we are all happy here at Miami. I'm glad you liked my school, it is a solid choice for anyone who wants to work hard in med school and get incredible clinical training while also having lots of fun along the way.@Ace Khalifa
Just interviewed. The environment really is chill just like you said and it also still gives the air that people are truly putting in work. Easily my top choice now. SUNY down has to come hard. U.Miami is amazing; I hope I get the call.

would you want to attend? if so, then yeah fill it outHahahahaahahah What? Competed primary early July, have a few ii coming up, and only NOW did Miami decide to give me a secondary app. I thought they ditched my thing a long time ago. Is it even worth filling out at this point?
I did but to be honest I felt kind of abandoned after three months of silence. for a freaking secondary.would you want to attend? if so, then yeah fill it out
You give the rest of us August complete dates hope!!II! Complete around 8/11 or so.

No, I moved to "been scored and interviews are offered Sept through March. yada yada yada. Waiting for an II, if one ever will show up. My brother didn't get an II until Feb 2 cycles ago. They do go much slower with II than other schools.been complete since july and my status is still "Your Application is currently under review by the Admissions Committee at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine."
anyone in the same situation?
