The "High Priority Waitlist" (In this case, Qualified Candidates) historically has been created to put candidates in who would have gained a spot in the class over those who were ultimately waitlisted, but do not cannot be accepted due to maxed quotas. So a tiered system. I could be wrong, but this sounds the case.

EDIT: HPWL starts to fill the class once April 30th or whatever National Decision day is. UVM will be a difficult financial pill to swallow for many OOS with in-state offers. Just because the class is filled doesn't mean it'll stay that way.

Uber skeptical of this—why would they keep reviewing and putting people in the 'small' pool if the class is already full? I find it hard to believe they filled the class with just Aug+Sep+Oct interviewees.

Many schools have this two tiered waitlist, off the top of my head Jefferson uses this under the name "High Priority Waitlist" and their class is not yet full.

Not sure, but just some optimistic thoughts! I'm still holding out for an II!

The "qualified/alternate candidate" list is not a "high priority waitlist" at UVM, it is just how UVM refers to their waitlisted candidates. IMO because Vermont is still reviewing candidates (i.e. Small pooling people and sending II), I doubt they've filled the class...

Anyone know if an update letter would help with post-interview decisions? (Interviewed in January, they said we'll hear back by March)
 
been small pooled since august and still nothing. hopefully there are a few more rounds of interviews. anyone else here not heard back since small pooled?
 
+3 small pooled since beginning of February

How many people are estimated in the small pool? It seems some people are in limbo since August while others were immediate selected a few weeks later after receiving the message.

I am actually not sure as I never received a complete email. When I checked the portal in January, it said I was under preliminary review and it has been like that since then.

I know - I am trying not to but I have given up hope on this school because I have been on preliminary review for a while!
 
Have acceptances only been given out on Fridays so far? If so, it's going to be another long week!
 
They told the interview group this Saturday that it was the last interview day.

On the portal, it says " Interviews are scheduled between mid-September and mid-March."

It's not even mid-march so it could just be last interview for this month, right?

You'd think if it was the last interview day then they could have at least told all of us in the small pool that we've drowned, right? Maybe they're just letting us tread water until they get around to it. 🤣:roflcopter:

UVM is very cuddly and nice in all of there presentations. At the end, made an announcement along the lines of "We were so impressed with all of you, and we'll remember you. This is our last day for interviews, and we always remember our first and last day of the cycle especially."

Groups have seemingly been bigger this year, so perhaps wrapped up a bit sooner?
 
If that's true, that really sucks. I feel like every timeline UVM told us was completely made up lol

I'd have to agree with you, but what do we really know. However, I cannot see the ad com at any school saying something like that, as to suggest a preference for any particular group of interviewees. My portal says they're interviewing into mid-March, as does an email directly from someone in the admissions office. Only time will tell, I guess--maybe we've all been misled. Best to everyone waiting, and congratulations to those who've been accepted.

If that were a bs post, some people have a really distorted and tasteless sense of humor.
