No instate med school for NH? What about the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth 😛

Accepted, OOS, LizzyM ~70. Interviewed 9/17.

Congrats! What does ~70 mean? Share stats by any chance? And notified by email I suppose?

I called the admissions office to ask about methods of communication re: decisions. She said nothing electronic and everything was sent via snail mail today. Guess she didn't have the heart to tell me that only accepted applicants were getting an email today.

3.80 gpa 33 mcat. And yeah email early this morning.

Congrats to those accepted! I hope to see you in August! Hang in there if you're still waiting to hear back. There's still a ton of time! 🙂

That's not a public medical school though.

It's still a medical school in the state of New Hampshire. "instate" can be public or private. When I was deciding which schools to apply to in my home state of Massachusetts, I looked at the in-state interview rates. For example, the interview rates for Massachusetts residents at Tufts and Boston University are quite favorable, and both happen to be private medical schools.

Last year, Dartmouth had three students in their class that were from NH. Also, an average mcat score of a 34-35. So while you could argue that it is an "in-state" school, its private and very hard to get into, even as an in-state student.

It's hard to get into no matter what state you're from, but it is in fact easier to get into if you're from the state of New Hampshire. For Dartmouth medical school, the most current MSAR shows 73 verified in-state applications, 17 in-state interviews (23.29%), and 4 in-state matriculants (5.48% of in-state applicants, 23.53% of in-state interviewees). That's more favorable than OOS: 5212 verified OOS applications, 653 OOS interviews (12.53%), and 77 OOS matriculants (1.48% of OOS applicants, 11.79% of OOS interviewees).

I was just making the point that there is a medical school in New Hampshire, as the OP made it seem like there were none (as is the case in numerous states throughout the country).

Wait so only acceptance emails are sent out? I'm confused

I believe that if you were accepted you would have received an email. Anything else is sent by snail mail along with accepted official letters.

There's been so few responses here today though, I don't think we should make sweeping assumptions just yet. be positive!

Edit- it looks like in last years thread they also emailed for waitlist/reject, but it was short and vague to just say a decision was going to come in the mail. If you were accepted the email had your acceptance letter attached

Was today "decision day" for the early decision applicants? I have not heard of 10/15 being an important date in any context.

The AAMC has a traffic rule stating that MD schools are not allowed to release decisions for ED applicants until October 1st, and for regular decision until October 15th. That is the reason why most applicants are eagerly waiting and staring at SDN today and for the next few days.

So they sent out acceptance emails, but snail mailed the rest of us wait list status or rejections?

i was told at the interview that we would find out today via email. so I'm confused by the previous posts.

so much conflicting info going around lol- I'm going to just sleep everyday until the mail comes. I can't take the stress haha

so how does the waitlist feature work? Just got an II today but it seems like there are at least 4 people on every waitlist date already...

If you register for a waitlisted interview day, when (well if) a spot opens up it automatically switches you into that seat. You can simultaneously hold an open seat and stay on a waitlist for another day. I did but a seat never opened up

So I'm guessing my chances are pretty slim with 4 people already on my waitlist date? Btw... if anyone gets accepted to their top choice and is canceling their interview date earlier than february, please pm me and I will bribe you (with candies and stuff... through ups)

I'm not sure to be honest. Depends on the day I'd wager, I'm sure no one wants to give up a Monday or Friday spot if a lot of traveling and missing work is involved haha

I want to call and ask about this weight list thing lol... I feel like the whole "you only get an email if you are accepted" may be right...? but then again hardly anyone got in on this thread.....

since a lot of people got acceptances today, they may be cancelling their interview. i think one will open up.

I am confused as to why some of us have not heard back yet...

My interview season, slots opened up later in November and December as people were accepted to their first choice schools and decided not to interview at WVU. I was able to switch from a February date to an early December date in late November.

The wait is horrible, both for the interview (I had to wait months because I took a late MCAT) and then for the results. I completely sympathize with all of the anxiety, but don't worry, if you got an II you'll get an interview.

But there are at least 3 or 4 people on each wait list date already so I was concerned of the chances that 4 people will cancel on one date. Whenever you got your waitlist date last year, were you the fourth or fifth person in line? i think the program goes in order of whoever signs up for the waiylist first

Our theory was correct. Received snail mail today with weight list notification! Interviewed 10/2

State? I haven't gotten anything yet, damn was really hoping this wasn't true

A lot of ppl were accepted today? No one reported an acceptance in this thread from today
i meant people may have gotten an acceptance to their top school on 10/15, and thus may be cancelling their scheduled WVU interview. so spots will probably open up.

Did you guys send thank you letters to your interviewers? If so, did you send one thank you e-mail to both of your interviewers (since we're interviewed by two together) or did you send two separate thank you e-mails?
