2015-2016 West Virginia University Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
There's a Facebook page, maybe try looking for WVU School of Medicine class of 2020. Someone posted the link a few pages back if you can't find it. If you want to walk to class, Georgetown, Copperfield Court, and Chateau Royale are the major 3 apartment complexes in the area. I've seen incoming 1st years posting about housing and roommates already on the FB page so that will give you more of an idea.

It's more of a lounge than a study area. It's pretty nice though. There are desks/study spaces, but there are also areas to eat, watch TV, and hang out so I'd imagine it can get loud in there depending on the time of day. It's med student access only though so that's nice. I don't use it much as a third year, but I think the first and second years use it a fair amount between and after classes.

Thank you for the info! Super helpful!

Any recent movement in the waitlist? Or has that train left the station?

First post on SDN.
OOS here, and still waitlisted since December...
Praying for the magical phone call to come soon....

It is a popular hangout spot for MS1s during lunch (and after lunch when the student interest groups drop off their leftovers). Other than that, there are only a couple of us in here most of the day. Sometimes people will drop through to watch a game on TV in the evenings. No one is rude or obnoxiously loud. And that little bit of normal noise is what noise-cancelling headphones are for.

For those accepted, we'll see you in a couple short months. Enjoy your summer!

Is still possible to be accepted this late? Is there anything I can do to help myself get accepted?

Probably not possible. I know of someone in my class accepted in June and another in July, but the odds are not good.

According to the facebook page, there have been two acceptances off the waitlist in the past 2 weeks.

Anyone here care to shed light on how the interviews are conducted and how you felt during it? I have mine in September and I'm just curious. Thanks in advance!

Two on one, single interview, pretty short (mine was like 15 mins max, some were 20 or so). They sat me at the head of the table and sat on either side of me, couldn't speak to both at once so had to keep flipping my head back an forth. Didn't really enjoy it. While waiting you sit in a big board room type thing with the other applicants. Before all this there's the typical tour, speakers on finaid, etc. Can't remember much more of that. Overall not my favorite interview, but not awful or anything. Just really didn't like the format/duration of the interview itself

Gotcha thanks for the info! I'm hoping for an enjoyable experience. Wad the two on one meant to be intimidating or was it a laid back atmosphere

Mine was a laid back atmosphere. One guy was asking all the questions while the other one just sat around taking notes and glancing at me every now and then. In my opinion they give you lunch way to early like around 10:30 instead of after the tour of the facility. The only stressful part is waiting in the room with the other interviewees waiting for your turn (can take up to 2 hours). Otherwise, my interview went on for about 20 mins. Straight forward questions, the usual stuff you should prepare for. Definitely one of the easier interviews I had.
