2016-2017 Central Michigan University Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
To those of you who interviewed, how long was the MMI? I hope we aren't actually interviewing from 10-1:30! That is very long...What is the breakdown for an individual person? Thanks!

Didn't interview here but normally the days are broken up into individual components. Some people interview which should only take around an hour, others tour, etc. etc.

Yeah I know, but I got the itinerary for the day. It specifically blocks off 10-1:30 for all interviewing things. Lunch and touring are separate!

Hey guys! So I interviews last year at CMU in February. I was not a very competitive applicant, yet I still got waitlisted. I however did not get offered an acceptance. I do know that I was one of the last 5 people on it in July before they rejected me.

However, currently I am at in the BMS program at WSU, and am doing very well in it. I highly recommend it to all those who do not get in this cycle. It has made me a much better applicant, and I currently have two II at school that I did not last year (CMU was my only II last cycle).

I completed my app a little over a month ago, and have not heard anything back yet. Since I was WL last year, and am a much better applicant this cycle, I do expect to get one eventually. How long after completion did it take for all of you to get IIs?
BMS represent! Love the program. Show me some love CMED!

"Your supplemental application review is complete but an interview decision is pending. While we make every effort to provide application decisions in a timely manner, it is possible that an applicant could remain without an interview decision until February." UGHHHHHH

When were you complete?

This is the status before getting an II. Why ughhh?

My app was under review for 5 days. Not sure if thats a good thing, or a bad thing...

until your ii? or until their hold status?
It was under review for 5 days and then went to this.

No that's pretty normal!

Woooo I'm finally under review! Complete on 8/2. I'm in this for the long haul

This scares me because I was complete 8/15 but my review was done by 9/2 and I got that "interview decision pending" message. Maybe they didn't like my app?

I've been at that magic status for a month now but I'm waiting very patiently.

SAME!!! I just want to know if I will get an interview or not

I Promiseeee it's normal!!! Don't read into the time it takes them to review your app. That II will be in your inbox soon

Correct me if im wromg but I feel like everyone gets this status regardless if they are invited to interview after a while or not. I mean I hope I'm wrong because I've been at that status for a while and would love to interview haha

It is but what I'm saying is it's a status that means you're possibly getting an II. Just be patient with it. I gave myself a rule for the next few months - not checking anyyyy more portals for the rest of this damn cycle. Anxiety is too real when I do.

complete 7/14 and still silence. anyone else in same boat? don't know if this is good or bad

II! Submitted on 8/17, went in to review approximately one month later.

Incredibly excited to see the campus, meet current students and faculty, and learn more about their program!

Interviewing here, and really want to go here, but OOS. Anyone know if I will be paying OOS tuition for 4 years ?

Congrats! When you forwarded for review?

I just checked my portal and it doesn't show me the dates anymore, but I can give you an estimate. I submitted 8/26, was under review until about a week ago, and then got this status:

"Your supplemental application review is complete but an interview decision is pending. While we make every effort to provide application decisions in a timely manner, it is possible that an applicant could remain without an interview decision until February."

I was under the impression that this was a hold, but I was only at this status for a max of 2 weeks before my II.

I was complete 8/7 and I'm still under review. They sure are taking their sweet time with this. :/

Received a secondary from this school this am. Forgot I even applied here.. Is it even worth filling out at this point? Seems kinda late in the cycle imo.

If it was too late in the cycle for them to accept you, they wouldn't have requested the secondary from you this late... I'd say CMed is interested in you as a potential student, so it's up to you! (I would, if I was in your shoes)

As did I. I was confused because I thought I didn't make the pre-secondary screening, but I'm going to complete it and submit later today. It's interesting though, my AMCAS was verified in early July so I'm sort of confused why they're sending secondaries a third of the way through the cycle.

I was verified early July as well.. I'm going to think about it today while I'm in the lab. The next available CASPer date is Nov. 20th, which means my file will not be considered complete until sometime in the beginning of December, at the earliest.. This seems very late to me. Especially considering I am an underdog.

The CASPer is encouraged, but not required, so your application will be complete without it. If you feel the school is a match you should submit!

Ladies and gents, I can't stress this enough: there is no such thing as a too-late II. CMED doesn't send interview invitations to people they aren't interested in. IIs are offered at all different points in the cycle, and getting a later II does not mean your app is a loss, or that they're just interviewing you for the sake of appearances. The ADCOM continually evaluates the applicant pool and re-adjusts criteria to acquire the best candidates possible. You may get an II immediately, or not till January. There is no correlation between when you get your II and your chances of acceptance, waitlist or rejection.

"But Traumahawk, OMGWTH it's one third through the cycle and I haven't gotten an II! All I've got is this "under review" status! WHAT DOES IT MEAN?!?!?!?"

It means: absolutely nothing. "Under review" is the catch-all category for every app that's been reviewed. It's not a hold. It's not a waitlist. It's absolutely not a rejection.

Take a deep breath. Relax. Don't fall into the trap of checking the portal every 37.2 seconds. If you get an II, come on up and see us. We're looking forward to meeting you!

Are you an in-stater, if I may ask? or are you applying out of state?
