2016-2017 Creighton University Application Thread

Does anyone know how strict the LOR requirement is? All of my LORs are dated before 2015 so I don't know if they are still acceptable. I didn't know until today that the letters must be dated on or after 2015. I am trying to obtain new LORs but I don't think I can get them in on time. Anyone has any insight?
I'd like to know this as well.

They are pretty strict about this. It also depends when you graduated from undergrad (see website). I have 1 dated before 2015 and when I spoke to admissions, they said it needs to be 2015 or 2016 to count. You can always call them to discuss your letters! They are friendly.

Lol I've never seen a school with so many weird requirements/ways of doing things. Had to download a new browser just to complete the secondary and everything since then has been a headache.

Do you know if you were marked complete, whether that means Creighton accepted your letters?

I think if you're marked complete, Creighton has everything they need from you. I received an incomplete email, which is how I found out about the date requirement.

Thanks so much, relieved that they're lax about their LOR requirements for me

Gosh darn. Just checked my portal and saw "You have been invited to an event. Please click here to RSVP." Got happy.

Nope, just an open house. I really really like this school. Creighton, please love me. I would have come to the open house if it wasn't a $300+ flight for me!

I was checking if my app was complete, and I just saw that too. I clicked the link thinking wow it might be an interview, too. I'm too far and too poor to fly anywhere either.

And does anyone know if this statement on the portal: "Your secondary application is complete and is ready to be reviewed for interview purposes," changes once you're under review? Or only when you receive an II?

I have a question for anyone who may know the answer! At the end of the interview day, there was a presentation about admission decisions post-interview, and they only mentioned accepted, accepted with conditions, and alternate pool. There was no mention of rejection. Did they just leave the rejection option out to be optimistic, or is there actually some magic rule where if you interview early enough you are either accepted and placed on the alternate list, not rejected. This latter theory seems to good to be true, so I feel like they just didn't want to end the day on a negative note about rejections...any theories?

Actually, Creighton does not reject anyone post-interview until they have completely filled their class. So it's not an early interview thing--all interviewees will be placed on the alternate list if they are not accepted. Then, once they have orientation, they will send out an email apologizing for not being able to offer acceptances to those that remain on the list.

interviewed here over the weekend. super laid-back, they actually pride themselves on having a laid-back interview process.
one faculty, one student, open file, 30 minutes. it definitely felt a little rushed, my student had to cut us off mid-conversation because we were over time but besides that, great interview day. ALOT of walking during the tour but the campus is gorgeous and the people are extremely welcoming and thankful for you being there

+1. Interviewed here recently and absolutely loved it <3

Can you talk a little more about your experience? Interviewing this Friday and super excited/nervous.

Sure! I stayed with a student host, which I highly recommend. It's a great way to learn more about the school.

So the interview day went like this:

Breakfast/registration starts around 7:30 ish. (fruit, pastries, coffee/OJ/water)
Some presentations about the school in general and it's mission. I believe we had the dean and assistant dean talk to us.
Financial aid presentation.
Interviews! You will interview twice, each for ~30 minutes, once with a faculty member and once with a current student. There are three interview times (10a, 10:30a, and 11) so you will have a 30 minute break at some point. My two interviewers were super nice, and Creighton does not stress-interview AT ALL! They were both super relaxed, and very willing to answer all of my questions.
Lunch! We ate with current M2s, and were given ample time to ask questions. (food was yummy by the way! we got pasta)
After lunch, you get a tour of the hospital campus. Not much walking, because you mainly just see the simulation center. Then there is a Q&A with 3rd year students.
The admissions dean then talks to your interview group about what to expect from here (timeline, etc.)
Next, tour of the medical school buildings and the Creighton campus itself. I didn't feel there was too much walking, at least compared to one of my other interviews, but there is a fair amount.

And that's it! You finish around 2:30p or so. I loved every minute and learned a lot. Best of luck to you!

When did you guys submit just out of curiosity?

I was complete mid-July.

Thanks so much for the informative post! I interview here this Saturday and am really looking forward to it. I hope I enjoy my day as much as you did! Did you happen to do anything fun in Omaha before/after your interview?

Thanks for all the info. I'm interviewing on Friday (super excited!!!!) and I'm just wondering what the dress code was for the post-interview dinner. And do you know long it lasted? I just don't want to be over/under-dressed for it. Thanks in advance.

I ran across the pedestrian bridge and through the park by the river. Went to the MS2 beach volleyball event. Went out with my student host for breakfast and walked around some different parts of Omaha

Casual. I came straight from my flight in jeans. I think we were there for two or so hours, but some people stayed longer and others left earlier. It's just a chance to talk to current students and other interviewees.

I stayed with a student host, which was so much fun! We went out to dinner and explored downtown omaha. Unfortunately I had some homework to finish up that night so I didn't get to do a whole lot else.

I personally did not attend because I had to get back home for work, sorry!

Good luck to both of you!!

@sparkle and Medbom, if you don't mind could you tell us your stats? IS or OOS, date applied. Tx.

Just had my interview today.
Really love the atmosphere, people, and the supportive environment that they create here.
They really make sure that you're comfortable and relaxed before the interview. Very conversational and personable as well.
The student hosts were AMAZING and super informative and supportive, so if you have the opportunity to stay with one definitely do it!

Let me know if anyone has more specific questions!

Did anyone get any snail mail from Creighton? I missed a certified usps mail delivery today that I won't be able to receive until Monday. When I checked the tracking number provided on the slip, it showed the letter or package originated from Omaha, NE. I didn't order anything, so it's weird. Do they send rejections through snail mail?

Congrats! Was this by e-mail? also, what dates are they currently scheduling?

II just now. By email. IS and Creighton Undergraduate.

I thought I was in the "silently rejected" group after waiting for such a long time (submitted 7/8), but any semblance of patience has apparently paid off. II just now!
Same my friend. Complete mid July and so stoked!!

Congrats! Was this by e-mail? also, what dates are they currently scheduling?

I was notified via e-mail, and current dates they are scheduling ranged from late October to early December. All interviews take place on either Fridays or Saturdays. Also, because huskerne mentioned it, I'm OOS if people are keeping track.

Was complete 9/9, hoping for some love soon! And to all of you who received II tonight, congrats! I sincerely wish the best for you all!

II yesterday afternoon as well! Available dates ranged from late October to December.

Complete 8/29 (Sat on this application for 1 month... BAD. Lol) LizzyM 72-73

radio silence...🙁 was complete 8/15 LizzM 74

I interviewed at Creighton on 9/1 and at the time the admissions rep mentioned that decisions could start coming at or after October 15th. I'm doubtful that they'll actually send anything on the weekend...but I'm nervous all the same! Anyone else waiting for news? Any idea when we might start hearing??

I'm waiting too but I looked back through the threads and it seems like they announce a day or 2 after the 15th. So we can expect to hear something on Monday or Tuesday.

I interviewed here on 9/23... Doubt I'll hear anything on Monday, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed for good news! Best of luck to everyone who is waiting in limbo right now, I hope next week goes well for us!

Please check if your rec letters disappear from your creighton secondary site. That means they have taken decision on your application. Then you can call them to know the status.

My letters of rec have disappeared from my secondary portal...does this just mean they've made a decision (accepted, accepted with conditions, on hold) or is it perhaps an indicator for one certain decision? Would they answer if we called on the weekend?

Why would you need to call them on the weekend?
