2016-2017 Loyola University Chicago (Stritch) Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Any October/November interviewees still waiting to hear back or did ya'll hear back in December?

Interviewed early November. As far as I know, no one from my date or later has heard back yet. They issued decisions for interview groups the week before mine though so I expect to hear back in the next batch.

What does the status on your portal state?

As of today, Tuesday, January 10, 2017:

From what I remember, I believe this status means that the adcoms have all the necessary info and are deliberating on a decision. However given the time frame (you interviewing very early on), I would probably try and reach out to the office to see what is going on, if you are still interested. I believe one of the other people here on SDN did so and received an update. Hope this helps somewhat!

Thank you! That sounds like a great idea.

I'm still stuck on the "Your file is currently undergoing a review by our committee," and let me tell you.. this is one seriously thorough review.

My app was complete 7/8 and I haven't heard anything either way from Loyola since, they're one of the last couple of schools that I am waiting to hear back from.
App complete 7/29 still waiting to hear back too would it hurt to call the admissions office on Thursday and ask about my application?

Current student here. Feel free to ask away.

I was just wondering when you got accepted into Loyola did they ask for your high school grades or do they just want your college grades. Oh also I am a legacy so will that help me get in. My grandpa and father went to loyola.

No high school transcripts, and if you can speak to your passion for Stritch in your family life, it can help, assuming the usual boxes are checked. We have a decent amount of legacy students.

Okay, this is a silly question. But what kind of "personal" updates do people normally submit here? My long term SO just got into a law school in the area and so I don't know if that would count or not...I don't want to send a letter of intent because I did get into another school I love, but Loyola would definitely be like a top 2 choice for me

I think it depends on whether or not the other school you got into was Chicago. If you got into another school that you love that you would attend over Loyola, it doesn't make sense to write a letter of intent.

I liked the schools pretty equally during my interviews so I'm just not sure at the moment which is my top choice! But I think you're right, I don't want to try and take a spot from someone who wants it as their absolute top choice
