2016-2017 Texas A&M Health Science Center Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Oh, it's nothing fancy haha. I was just thinking that because of the match, there are a lot of "acceptances" that don't actually get recorded as one. For example: You rank school A number 1 and school B number 2. School A has you on their match list, so you match. But, school B also had you on their match list, but you never hear of an acceptance from there because you already matched to a higher ranked school. So if a school only accepts 50% of applicants, your individual chances of acceptance might actually be higher than that, because the number of acceptances reported is less than actually would be given out if not for the match system. This is just my anxious brain being overactive before prematch though, so I have nothing to actually back this up.

Basically the next 2 Tuesdays will change our lives. That's kind of scary to think about haha

Did anyone from the Nov 3 interview find out if we are eligible to hear back on the 15th? Not sure how frequently the committee meets and would like to know if I should have any expectation of hearing back that day.

I believe every Friday they meet together. So theoretically you could interview the Thursday before the prematch week and still get in. Amirite anyone?

As an OOS student, I interviewed on October 13th and was accepted on the 17th (the first day they gave acceptances to us since the 15th was a Saturday) so it's definitely possible!

I didn't 🙁

Does this mean I'm not loved?

Seems like only the students they're interested got one :/
I think if you selected/check-marked "Interest in MD Plus program" on the secondary app, you received that email

Thanks, LizzyM is closer to 66 I guess lol but I submitted my secondary 8/12 so I definitely thought I was done for here. My interview is Thursday in Bryan.

Can anyone speak to what the interviews are like at this school?

Are interview invitations sent in big batches or few at a time here?

Blah... my interview was next week but I 100% can't go. Had to reschedule and the next date was January. 🙁

I interviewed here in the beginning of November but A&M hasn't showed up on my TMDSAS. Do y'all know how soon a school shows up? Should I call A&M and ask why it hasn't shown up??? Don't wanna look too impatient.

It says on the website it may take time. UTSW didn't show up for me until a couple of weeks after.

For anyone that has interviewed here, can you speak to what the interview was like?

I had my interview on 10/20 at Temple. It was very chill, great vibe. I didn't have any stress interviews, and I didn't prepare myself with practice questions or anything from the school. I found the whole thing to be very conversational 🙂

Need someone to check my understanding real quick: The info sheet they passed out on interview day says that 150 students matched and their matriculating class was 184. Does this mean 80% of the class were from the match/didn't get a pre-match?

I haven't interviewed here yet, but the matriculated students who prematched would have also matched as well. I would interpret it as the other 34 came from the waitlist?

Ah, gotcha. That would make much more sense thank you 🙂

Hey everyone I'm an M1 here and I'm sure many of you are anxious for tomorrow like I was last year. I hope that you get good news at whatever school you are hoping for. Just remember that there is a lot left to happen and even if you don't prematch that is by no means a rejection. For the record I came in off the waitlist here. Hold your head up, try not to freak yourself out and remember that you are not defined by your stats, how many interviews/acceptances you get, or anything else the cycle is making you feel.

Thank you so much!!! I'm definitely anxious right now so I needed to hear that 🙂

Seconded, and not prematching/ matching/ getting on a waitlist does not mean you're projected to be any less successful. Many here know I'm re-applicant wait list miracle case, and I've gone on to represent the school nationally, and I'm not the only one here or abroad with that story. Heads high, you've got bright futures.

Does anyone how many interview dates are still available at Texas A&M?
