Accepted to Twin Cities! Interview 12/15

Have just been silently monitoring this discussion forum and hesitating to sign up, but when I saw your post I had to join and ask: when did you receive the call? I interviewed 12/15 as well and am anxiously waiting to get some kind of feedback or communication. Congratulations futuredocgirl! I am so pleased for you & hoping hard that we will be classmates

Congrats to all those accepted and good luck to those still waiting! I interviewed on 12/15 as well and received the acceptance call on Friday afternoon. For those of you accepted, how long did it take for you to get an email regarding next steps? I still haven't received anything official.

I interviewed on 12/6, got the call on 2/10, and got the official email on 2/14.

Waitlisted today. OOS. Interviewed 1/6/16. Lizzy M: 72.8.

Grateful for the chance to interview, and it would have been a dream to be accepted.

Anyone know what movement on the waitlist is like?

Does anyone know if MN provides ipads for the med students?
They don't provide ipads, but you are free to use whatever technology you want in class (ipad, tablet, windows, mac, etc.) and the biomed library is right next to the first year lecture hall and that has a bunch of computers you can use. I use the same dell laptop in class that I used in undergrad 🙂 If you do need to get a new computer/tablet/etc. you can request extra financial aid (loans) specifically for that purpose though. Here's the link:

🙂

I thought I would compile a list of helpful Twin Cities links that I have bookmarked (and actually use) to help interested/accepted students:

Transportation:
If you live super close to campus you can get a train pass for free (http://www.pts.umn.edu/bus/campus-zone-passu-community), but otherwise you should buy the $100 UPass after you get your UCard at orientation (http://www.pts.umn.edu/bus/upass)

Housing:

Financial Aid:

General:
https://blackbag.umn.edu/ (after you start school, you will use this site literally every day so I would just bookmark it)
https://www.myu.umn.edu/ (has your financial aid information, transcript, etc. - I use it about once per month)
https://www.meded.umn.edu/year1/
https://www.meded.umn.edu/students/index_tc.php

https://www.meded.umn.edu/students/faq.php

Medical Specialties Exploration:

Hope it helps! 🙂

Been pretty quiet around here lately! Do decisions always typically go out on Fridays?

Anyone hear recently from Duluth campus? Anyone in the high priority acceptance pool?

I am in this pool too, no word yet. When were you notified of your status in this pool? I heard in mid-January. Interviewed early December.

I interviewed ten weeks ago (1/10 Twin Cities) and hadn't heard back yet, so I called the office today. I was notified I should have received an email several weeks ago. The woman I talked to was nice and let me know she'd resend the email, but I still haven't received anything (even in spam). I have received emails from them with no problems until now, so I know they have the correct email address for me on file.

Suffice it to say, you never know when technology will fail. If you haven't heard back yet and think you should have, you might as well give a call now. I am glad to at least have the closure of knowing that I am waiting for an email -- and not a call. Best of luck to those still waiting!

Sorry to hear but good to know. Did she tell you the decision so at least you don't have to wait any longer?

Thank you! She didn't say, but she told me I should have gotten an email (as opposed to a call), so I was either rejected or possibly waitlisted.

Interviewed 1/27. Denied today.

Edit: I am a Minnesota citizen as well as a re-applicant. I'll see you guys in 2019 - congratulations everyone.

Does anyone have details on the difference between WL and Alternate List? I apologize if I missed this in prior comments, I didn't see any specifics. I saw someone also asked about WL movement but didn't see any responses. I'd be grateful if anyone has any info! WL'd today, interviewed on 2/6, so people from that group should be hearing back soon! Best wishes, to everyone for good news!

WL for me also.

WL is literally "we are waiting to make a decision" from what I gather.

Final update: I called again this morning and was told it "looked like" I was waitlisted. Email this afternoon with a rejection.

Sorry to hear. Are you an in state applicant?

Is that when they typically release decisions? I interviewed on 1/19 (9.5 weeks ago) and haven't heard anything yet!
I got an email last week saying I had been put on the waitlist. Interviewed 1/27.

I was placed on the wait list today. I interviewed on 1/27. They mentioned that a decision of acceptance/ranked alternate list/rejection should come no later than May 15th. Still hoping for good news though but I hope this answers the question on the difference between waitlist and alternate list.

Also rejected from the waitlist this evening, oh well! Good luck to everyone still in the running!

Just wondering, do you still get a phone call if you're accepted off the waitlist or is it all email regardless of decision?

Waitlisted today. Interviewed 1/31. OOS.

Anybody accepted at the Duluth campus receive a financial aid package yet?

Anyone accepted from the late Jan / early Feb round of interviews yet? Seems like we haven't seen any acceptances for a while

I do wonder if they overfilled the class this year... Or filled it earlier than usual.
