Complete 7/29!! SO EXCITED ALREADY!!!
To people who got this status in the past, did yall receive an interview shortly after? and how long after did you receive the interview?

I was complete 8/17 and got the status on 8/19, so getting towards 3 weeks now. Seems to me from the thread that that is pretty normal.

My portal status went from this

"Your M.D. file is now complete. The Sub-Committee will now do a review of your application. Once this review is complete, you will receive a status update regarding your profile."

to this

"Your M.D. file is now complete. The Sub-Committee will now do a review of your application. Once this review is complete, you will receive a status update regarding your profile.

Please note that your file may be put on hold for the following reasons:

Hold for MCAT: We are assuming you are scheduled to take the test. The Committee wishes to wait to evaluate your file until those scores are available. MCATS taken after September of the year of application will not be considered. If you are not planning to take or retake the MCAT, please notify us immediately.

Hold for Grades: The file review done by the Committee has determined that you are engaged in coursework which may affect their decision about whether to invite you for an interview. It is imperative that you submit grades for current or proposed courses in a timely fashion. Any file on hold for grades that are not submitted by January 31st will automatically be rejected. If you did not take the course indicated on your primary or supplemental application, please notify us immediately at 804-828-9629."

Does this mean I'm on hold? I already finished my MCAT almost a year ago and my transcript grades have been updated. But they don't specify what I'm on hold for. Anybody else got this status? I submitted 7/30 so it's been more than a month.

I don't think I have had the first status but I have had the second status for quite some time now.

my status has been alternating between those different statuses. First I had the one with the hold, then without and then with the hold again. I called the office originally and the hold for Mcat and grades doesn't matter to you if you don't actually have a Mcat you took recently or if you don't have any grades you are waiting on. I was stressing about that too haha so I called.

This happened to me yesterday. I am not taking any more classes nor am I planning to retake MCAT. So I wouldn't worry about it.

+1 I was complete over a month ago, and have had that "reasons for hold" status nearly the whole time. Not sure what it means but I have my grades and MCAT in. I was assuming they just changed it to that because people were requesting what happens if they don't have their MCAT in? Who knows

Same. I've stopped reading into the odd things they do. It's changed a couple of times between the two that were mentioned.

II via portal update yesterday (not sure when it updated, but sometime this week at least). LizzyM 71-72, IS, re-applicant so this is my first interview at a school I've applied to previously! Still haven't gotten the confirmation email. Complete around 7/18

Interview dates offered around mid October.

Congrats!! Did you have any of the statuses before your II?

on last years thread lots of people got interviews after some of these hold statuses.
I think last year VCU used like 4 different statuses (before II) after the file review. This year it seems to be either direct II, very interested, or your file review is complete.

Okay, so I just checked my portal and now have a new status beyond the normal "file complete and will be reviewed" or whatever status. It now says this: "Your file review is now complete. If you are granted an interview, you will receive a status update on your applicant portal. Please do not call the Admissions Office requesting special dates." That seams like an odd status to me.
I had that, and I got a II a few weeks later. Don't worry about it. It doesn't mean anything positive or negative.

you got an interview after the status that says your file review is complete??? or the "very interested" status?

Nobody said they were 'very interested' in me. It went straight from complete --> II after a few weeks.

Maybe that means they think I'm lame 😀, but you still have a chance if that's your status.

If one were to get their status changed to "very interested", do you get an update email? Or do you only get an update email if you get a II?
I didn't get an email when I got the very interested status. I just happened to log onto my portal and saw it.

Yea same! I didnt get any email.
Have you gotten an II yet? I wasn't clear how long after that status we should expect to hear back from them, especially since some people got II's directly after the complete status!

Nope not yet 🙁 But I have had it for a few days only. How long have you had this status for?

I just got the "your file review is now complete" status and I did get an email about the change in my application, maybe they email only some people for whatever reason. I was complete 2 months ago, so hopefully this leads to something!

Congrats!! Did you have any of the statuses before your II?

I think that the last status I had was the "your app is complete and will undergo review," then switched to the "very interested in giving you an interview" but when I got this status I was able to schedule my interview, so I think that was my II status. Now the status is basically the information about the interview day. I haven't received a single email throughout all of this. Hope the info helps.

Ah got it, yeah I've had the status for a few days as well, I think I got it either last Tuesday or Wednesday. Fingers crossed for us!

Has anyone else been stuck at the "Your M.D. file is now complete. The sub-committee will now do a review of your application..." since mid-July? I'm almost at the 2 months mark.
Since July 15th. I called admissions about two weeks ago. They told me that someone will contact me about my application in the near future. I wish they would have provided a more specific timeline.

Edit: Grammar mistake

Been there since mid August.

Thanks for the update! I hope they let us know something soon.

Yup, since 7/25ish. I also lost my withdraw tab and was concerned that meant I was getting rejected really soon, but that was over a week ago so maybe it means nothing...

+1 since the end of July

Just logged in to my portal to see that I had a "schedule interview" tab added! IS, LizzyM ~73, complete 7/18.

I actually still have that same "Your MD file is now complete. The sub-committee will now do a review..." status, which I've had for two months. But now it also says, "You have an interview scheduled for [date]" at the top.

No email yet.

I dont have my withdraw tab anymore either... although I'm not quite sure exactly when it disappeared. I'll be hoping with you that it means nothing...

It might be just a glitch. I think they would just go ahead and send an email if they were going to reject someone.

what are my chances of getting an interview? 🙁

I have no idea about the interview.. Good luck! Just curious when you were complete? if you don't mind.

People have gotten interviews with this status, don't be discouraged. Good luck!

I took this as my file was on hold, I don't know the chances of getting an interview

My portal did not change from under review to this status. An option to schedule an interview popped up, and the under review status only changed after I scheduled one. But I really don't think that you can really extrapolate much from that beyond that's what happened for one person. Best to just wait and see and not drive yourself crazy trying to derive meaning from it!

I think they meant that despite that status being a "hold" status really, there are a few others who HAVE eventually gotten an interview after the status. I would think the ratio would be quite low, compared to the other few statuses mentioned in the thread already. If you look back in last year's thread, there are a handful of those who got that status and went on later to get an II but not many. Best of luck at your remaining schools and fingers crossed you'll get lucky here as well 😀 ~

I have received OOS interviews but haven't heard anything from VCU (or any other in-state school for that matter). I am not sure if I should be worried because VCU was the first med school I was complete at. Any advice would be appreciated.
One of the last school's I submitted my secondary at was the first interview I received... I wouldn't be too worried yet there's plenty of time in the cycle left!

I've been complete at VCU since mid-July, and I'm still stuck at the "will be reviewed by the sub-committee" status. I'm not sure why people who were complete after me have already gotten an update, but I think VCU may have a variety of reviewers who move at different speeds. This is pure speculation, but I don't know how else to make sense of the process.

You're right according to admissions office staff. Sub-review by a committee usually means file review by a clinician. I think speed of status updates mostly depends on the particular clinician your file is given to

I'm in the same boat...
