Part of me is really happy WVU is giving interview invitations/rejections so quickly after submitting secondaries because I hate waiting for an answer but the other part of me hates knowing I could be rejected this time next week...

I'm OOS, and this is the only interview I have right now, so I'm incredibly grateful to be going. Don't worry, everyone's cycle is going to look different! I'm sure you will hear back soon.

I'm in the same boat but It is still SO early in the cycle. I'm sure you'll get more, have faith! When is your interview?

I got the email that they received my secondary yesterday, and I feel like compared to everyone here I got it done really late. It just took AMCAS so long to verify my application! I must've submitted at a busy time because it took almost a full 6 weeks. Waiting for that to get done was absolute torture.
 
I'm OOS. 3.602 GPA, 518 MCAT, got confirmation of my secondary 7/22; hoping to get something about II in the next few days. How long has it taken those who have received II to get notification?

I think mine was about 11 days after my application was complete

Looking at previous year's threads, people got the cut early and then many of the people who got the secondary were invited for interview. Can anyone confirm or deny with a rejection or inside information?

No pre-secondary rejection here. I submitted my secondary yesterday.

I don't think they rejected any IS students pre-secondary, but I know they have done that in the past so I could be wrong. My guess is that maybe the system sent secondaries to everyone with a minimum GPA/MCAT they set. I know WVU says they don't "technically" have minimums but I'm sure it filters people with less than 3.0 GPA, etc.
 
When they say they'll get back to you in 2-3 weeks do they mean 2-3 actual weeks, or 2-3 weeks worth of business days?

How long after your AMCAS application being verified did everyone receive a secondary?
 
II today, secondary submitted like, less than two weeks ago. GPA is >3.7 and 516 mcat. Interviewed here last cycle too but with a much much lower mcat and I had a pretty bad interview. I guess it's a decent sign that they are giving me another chance to interview.
 
Oh and OOS, from NY but went to school in the Midwest.

Any OOS flying in for the interview? Does anyone know a cheap way from the Pittsburgh airport to the campus? The school recommends taking the Grey Line but it only leaves twice a day and airport shuttles are charging me $200 each way. I was thinking of flying in to the local airport but flights are a lot more expensive there. Any tips?
 
I just realized that WVU has a 2 week deadline on returning secondaries 🙁 Its been over 3 weeks now for me. Probably not even worth to submit or call them about it anymore

Im also from CA and have no connection to WV whatsoever so I probably wouldnt have much luck anyways from what I'm reading here

There's also a Megabus, but it leaves from downtown Pittsburgh, not the airport. Your best bet is probably the Grey Line or renting a car.

Shoot...I didn't' realize that and turned it in in 17 days. But you're right, I see it on the website. Hoping they'll be lenient since it wasn't in the notification email! Haven't heard anything back though two weeks later.

Edit: No it's in the email, I'm just blind 😳

Edit 2.0: Literally just got an II after turning the secondary in late - submit submit submit! Good luck!

I submitted on time and I'm a WV resident, but I don't know if I'm expecting a II, I applied last year and didn't get one. Granted now I have a better GPA and MCAT, but I don't know if it's going to be enough. Did undergrad at WVU and still worried I won't get II again - hoping to hear something soon.
 
II this morning. ORM, OOS, no ties, secondary submitted 7/19. Super excited, hoping to catch a football game the weekend I'm there.
 
according to MSAR they interview 762 and only 110 matriculate. What do you guys think chances of acceptance are after the interview? How many acceptances will they send out roughly?
 
They probably send out 250 acceptances or somewhere around there. Maybe a little bit higher

II this morning, which is odd since my app is not complete (my school's committee letter still hasn't gone out yet). Nonetheless, submitted 7/20, 3.58 cGPA, 3.46 sGPA, 515 MCAT, OOS (MD resident) with decent ties to the state.

US News reports that they have about ~800 IIs for ~170 acceptances for ~110 spots.

Note: 70 of those acceptances were for IS students; so if you're OOS heading into the interview, you stand about a 1:6 chance of being offered admission.
 
Also apparently almost every single OOS applicant given an interview is then waitlisted or denied. I have 3 friends at this school currently, and no one they talked to went straight from
Interview-->Accepted. There was always a WL in between.

Well, I'm just letting you guys know what I've heard from current students. May be wrong, but I think this is the majority of cases.

First II! Complete 7/18. LM ~67-69 OOS. Earliest date is 10/5
 
So people are still getting IIs despite submitting past the 2 weeks they state on their website/email? Hmm... Was discouraged after discovering the 2 week rule after the 2 weeks had passed and now it'll be almost a month since they sent my secondary. Do y'all think it would still be worth it?

You are correct. They could always start doing something different this year, but since I've been following WVU admissions cycles (2012) OOS II almost always = waitlist with a few getting rejected and very select few getting outright accepted. Most waitlist movement isn't until April or May, but some can trickle in throughout the winter and early spring.

I think it's always worth a try, but I would call or email and ask first if it's a month late just to save yourself the fee if they say not to bother
 
I got an interview invite today!! 🙂

513 MCAT, 3.97 masters gpa, lower ugpa, OOS, secondary submitted 7/15

Is the idea something along the lines of: "We have 110 spots, and we want those to go to WV residents. If there are any spots leftover for OOS students after interviews, then we'll take them off the waitlist" ??

I think it's something along those lines. I don't think they want to fill the class with only IS applicants, but they want to interview as many IS applicants as possible and fill the class with the best IS applicants first and then go back and fill it with the best OOSers from the waitlist. This is all based on speculation, it's never been confirmed, just FYI.

Way to go, Hau5MD! I hope it makes up a bit for the Mayo rejection. I'm interviewing in Morgantown on 8/31, so perhaps we'll compare notes sometime down the road.
