Poster means that they will be in the same region/city for another engagement and wonders if Stanford is accepting of emails to let it know. Then if Stanford wants to extend an II to poster when they are there, it will be very convenient/$$ saving for poster.

How common is this? I don't believe I've ever seen mention of it before. Do schools usually provide information on this in their II's?

I know it's more common for the NYC and Boston areas, just because there are more schools there. They won't usually let you know it's an option though--I've had to do some searching for some of mine.

I've received a few interviews in New York through that type of request. More common in the expensive areas.
 
Does anyone know if Canadian students are getting any interview invites? Haha I am wondering if they look at all American applications first or something.

No they're going to open up more dates...you're just seeing what's available at the time...
 
Does anyone know what Non-Academic Clinical Practice is? How is that different from Primary Care? Which career path would a trauma surgeon fall under?

Academic refers more to the setting you practice in than the specialty. A professor of trauma surgery would be in academic practice. A trauma surgeon not involved in teaching or research would be in non-academic clinical practice.

Is there anything specific that anyone recommends putting into the 5th section of the secondary: (Is there anything that we have not specifically asked that you would like for us to know and how you may uniquely contribute to Stanford Medicine?)?

Would be ok to leave it blank or is there something I should definitely add to make my application better?

I've left a lot of there optional secondaries blank and still received IIs. Coincidently, I did write something in this section but only because I actually had something to say
 
What's the lowest MCat score they consider here ? Do they look at the application holistically ?
 
I got an II like 3 days after I submitted my secondary (late August). Getting some self-doubt, especially since that turnaround was so quick.. any chance that was a mistake? fwiw I haven't heard anything from them since then and am interviewing in ~1 week

Complete (with LORs received finally...) August 20 - still haven't heard anything. Not quite time to give up, right? GPA c3.98, sGPA 4.0, MCAT 521.

They may have been waiting for your LORs before review.

Had the same reaction, especially since it was the only one of the bunch I heard from (complete earlyish-Sept). But they did respond to an email question I had, and had a similar surprising turnaround with Duke mid-Sept, so felt a bit more reassured that it was less of a fluke hah.

Also from what I recall you need to email confirm your interview with Stanford 5 business days before or you might lose your spot.

I also sent an ITA as I will be visiting SF for my other interview. I am wondering if I should also send them an update on my recently submitted manuscripts which I am listed as 1st author. I already have a few pubs so I don't know if these will be any help. What do you guys think?

You could but in research circles a submitted/in preparation/in review manuscript doesn't mean much (not to belittle your accomplishments). I would say hold on till you get that II. Also I thought Stanford doesn't accept updates prior to II?

The bottom 10th percentile of their class is a 515 MCAT. And this is probably for people who had high GPAs to make up for their MCAT or had beyond amazing extracurricular activities. If your MCAT is in that range and you have a great app/GPA, I'd say you still have a shot!

My UGPA not that great but I have a master in biomedical sciences with high GPA and iam almost done with PHD in BIoengeering from a top10 university with 3.9 GPA but my mcat score not high which is worriesome to me .... I have a great EC and first author publications

Don't count yourself out just yet. You never know! But I would advise you to check MSAR if you are worried. They show you the median MCAT for each school so you can see where you are competitive at.

10th percentile is 513. You're looking at the median of accepted students, which is typically higher than that of the matriculated students due to high stat applicants who hold multiple acceptances.
 
So the students accepted have lower than 515 ?

Those with IIs - what days of the week do they do interviews here?
 
You're not alone - I submitted my secondary on Sept 25, and got an interview invite today (Oct 9).

My stats are solid (3.92 GPA from a state school, 518 MCAT, Asian/ORM) but not exactly anything that would blow them away so i'm kinda shocked I even received an II, much less this quickly.

I have strong research (3 pubs including a 1st author + few posters) which may have helped ...although after spending so much time reading SDN this application cycle, i'm not even sure if this even is that strong anymore given what some people are applying with 😛. Its definitely the only part of my application that I feel stands out however.

Those of you with IIs - any of you apply for the Knight-Hennessy Scholars program? When I met with the director, he said that they would try to coordinate the MD interviews to occur during the immersion weekend, since the program is footing the bill for travel and lodging. Since invites to the immersion weekend aren't sent until December, I'm unsure if those in consideration would even receive an MD II prior to then...

Does that mean that they're only sending invites to KH Scholars that get invited to the immersion weekend?
